Race WIN # 71 for the 2011 Calander Year and WIN # 30 for the 2011-12 Racing Season made it a very Merry Christmas for both Dynamic Syndicatins and one of our Team of Dynamic Owners on Saturday as SANTA arrived a few hours early for the Dynamic / Darren Smith trained staying prospect GALLANT SPUR (Flying Spur / Gallant Miss) as he romped to victory in Race 3 at Kembla Grange in the SWH BUSINESS SOLUTIONS Benchmark 60 Hcp 2000m Track Condition: Good. Winning Time: 2:06.81 (Last 600m 0:34.75) winning by a length.
StartingTop Weight and then blowing in the market from $2.60 favourite to $3.70 third favourite, Gallant Spur was far too classy for his opposition over the 2000m trip.
Looking a standout in the pre race parade, Darren Smith had the horse looking a picture of health with a glow to his coat and a frame rippling with muscle.
Earlier this week, Gallant Spur was not part of the original nominations for this event with the thought being we would race him on Wednesday 28/12 at Kembla over the same trip in a Provincial Bowl event however after nominations and acceptances, we believed the Saturday event was far more suitable and we were proven correct.
Leading Newcastle based apprentice Alison Threadwell has been riding in outstanding form of late and despite having out ridden her claim in the bush, she still has 2.0 kgs available at the Provincials which is a huge advantage considering how well the young lady rides. Originally Alison was not planning to ride at the meeting but when the opportunity presented to ride Gallant Spur, she jumped at the chance and drove down to Kembla from Newcastle for the one ride - to pilot Gallant Spur.
Alison was asked to just allow Gallant Spur to find his rhythm early and bowl along under his own steam, where comfortable and then quicken the tempo from just before the home turn and make it a true staying test. Alison produced a perfect ride and dominated the race throughout.
Our speed map showed Gallant Spur should get a soft lead, so we asked Alison to ride her own race, controlling the speed upfront and if she was to get some soft sectionals, give him a rest at some stage before ramping up the pressure prior to the turn. Alison found herself in front after just 50m so allowed Gallant Spur to come back under her and work into a rhythm without being pressured. Gallant Spur set up a couple of lengths advantage and then controlled the pace. Approaching the 1000m mark Alison let Gallant Spur have his head and the horse put up a 6 length lead from the 1000m to the 800m. Then Alison gave him a breather from the 800m to the 500m. The field was working to get on level terms and Gallant Spur kicked off the turn into the straight and got a length break. The field had every opportunity to run him down as the swoopers set out after our horse that had done all the work. However Alison was in no doubt she was on the winner and had the horse full of running and rode strongly to the line never under any danger. He never gave his owners and supporters any concern and went to the line strongly and was doing his best on the line suggesting that further trips were not beyond him.
Congratulations to Dynamic trainer Darren Smith for supplying us a great year of racetrack results. This was also Dynamic Syndications 71st win for the 2011 Calendar year and was our 30th race win for this 2011-12 Racing Season. Also it was Dynamic's 262nd win under the Dynamic Syndications Banner.
Also a big Well Done to Alison Threadwell for a well judged ride.
Darren has done a super job with this Dynamic runner since inheriting the horse as a city reject from Randwick. This preparation, Gallant Spur resumed with an unsuitable first up short course trip before then, an eye catching run second up at Hawkesbury when 3rd in a very strong event. Then he won at over 1600m Tamworth carrying the grandstand. Then a close 2nd placing after missing the kick badly last start at Tamworth over 1600m before winning with authority today over 2000m
Gallant Spur was an Inglis Classic purchase by Dynamic Syndications.
From 19 runs, He has now won 3 races, 2 seconds, 3 thirds and win $53,200 prize money.
Well done to the Team : S McCrea, John & Mary Synd, W Hunter, Lord Howe Island Synd, D Sykes, A J Hanna, A Thackeray, A Bradley, R Choy & Milky Town Synd.
