Consistent Dynamic Performer, Superior Instinct is set to run at Rosehill on Saturday in a benchmark 80 event over 1200 metres.
It has been almost a month since we have seen the 7yo son of Delago Brom, the last time being when he did not handle the conditions and track in the Tamworth Cup and pulled up slightly lame.
Prior to that run, Superior Instinct produced two super efforts finishing 2nd behind now Doomben 10,000 2nd favourite, Pampelonne and then finishing a close up 3rd behind stakes placed Dee’n’gee.
Unfortunately he has had no luck with the barrier draw and has drawn in the car park currently placed in barrier 17/18.
Superior Instinct is set to hit the ground running on Saturday
This bad run of luck has really become the story of this honest gelding’s life who seems to have things go against him whether it be on the track, at the stables or out in the paddock.
However the racing gods have a number of different ways of trying to even things up and we are hopeful that they are looking down on him on Saturday and he receives a little bit of luck in running.
Blake Spriggs who has a great association with the horse, being the jockey in 2 of his 4 wins, has been booked to ride and brings him down to 57.5kgs after his 1.5kg claim.
Superior Instinct has always been a horse with plenty of ability but he has been hampered with injuries from the very start of his 2 year old career.
Superior Instinct finished 2nd this prep behind Pampelonne
It is a credit to Darren Smith, his second trainer, that he has been able to get him back to the track, in the sort of form he has been in.
Darren believes that with the freshen up that the horse has had since his last start, we can see yet another good performance, if he manages to get any sort of luck in running.
We wish the owners and the horse the best of luck on the weekend and we are hopeful that he will be hitting the line well.
Stay tuned for more updates on Superior Instinct and other horses who we currently have in and out of work.
