100 Race Winners for SNITZEL this Season

A treble of metropolitan winners on Wednesday has seen Arrowfield Stud’s champion sire SNITZEL become the 4th sire to join the century club with 100 Australian winners for the season.

SNITZEL had success with Marmooga at Ascot, Baldassare at Doomben and promising two-year-old Freakofnature, a debut winner at Sandown.

SNITZEL with 100 winners from 242 runners (41.3%) including 11 Stakes Winners, joins I AM INVINCIBLE (132/299 = 44.1%); WRITTEN TYCOON (112/292 = 38.4%); ZOUSTAR (106/303 = 35%).

Snitzel turns 21 this year, and last season he covered 168 mares at a fee of $220,000.

SNITZEL to date is the sire of:

1,419 Runners; 1,096 Winners (77.2%); 131 Stakes Winners (12%); 118 Stakes Placed

That’s 249 Stakes Horses with Earnings +$214m.

Of the 118 Stakes Placegetters, 107 have won races.

This equals 238 of his Stakes Horses are Race Winners = 21.7% Stakes Horses to Winners.

Simplistically 3 out of 4 Runners by Snitzel Win Races and 1 in 5 of his Winners earn Black Type.

It’s these freakish statistics that create buyer demand for his progeny.

He is also making his mark as a Sire of Sire’s through the deeds of his sons like Shamus Award and Russian Revolution and promising sire Trapeze Artist holding is doing the job and shows promise for the future.

Whilst SNITZEL Daughters are also having a growing influence on the breed.

SNITZEL is now sire of the Dams of 21 Stakes-Winners. This success was always to be expected after tasting early success when his first-crop daughter Eye for Fun produced Golden Slipper winner Mossfun as her first foal.

Stakes-winners this season from Snitzel mares are: North Star Lass (by Zoustar), Daisies (by Sebring), Faithful Feat (by Per Incanto (USA), The Novelist (by Written By) and Japanese bred and trained Verdad Imeru (by Orfevre).

At the upcoming yearling sales, SNITZEL will be the most represented sire at Inglis Easter with 40 entries, whilst he has 7 catalogued at the Inglis Premier.

He has already seen 36 Yearlings sell in Australia this year with a Top price of $1,125,000.

At the Magic Millions 34 Sold for an Average of $492,500 and a Median of $400,000

At the Inglis Classic 2 Sold for an Average of $220,000 and a Median of $220,000.

Demand for Snitzel remains as strong as ever and we were delighted to strike early at the Magic Millions buying 3 Snitzel yearlings – 2 colts: Lot 33 ex KYLIKWONG for $200,000 + GST & Lot 687 ex BRING ME THE MAID for $200,00 + GST.

Also, we grabbed a filly – Lot 479 ex THE HAMPTONS for $250,000 + GST.

All 3 are already SOLD OUT.

We also purchased for $80,000 + GST a filly by another Arrowfield Champion stallion -
