Another Big Weekend of Results for Leading all Northern Hemisphere first Crop Sires by number of stakes winners and group stakes winners, undefeated Triple Crown winner JUSTIFY is now the sire of 16 individual winners and 16 Individual placegetters including 6 Stakes Horses.

VERIFYING has become the tremendous First Crop Sire JUSTIFY’s first Gr1 Placegetter when a gallant runner-up on a heavy bog track over 8 furlongs (1600m) on dirt at Belmont on Saturday.

One of the official lead-up races to next season’s Kentucky Derby, and having only won a Maiden over 1200m on debut, VERIFYING was thrust straight into the deep end of a Group 1 at 1600m but still went to the barriers a 2/1 favourite.

It looked like he had the race in his keeping, but his rider inexplicably kept him on the fence in the slush heap, allowing the 10/1 winner to sail down the centre of the track in the superior ground to grab victory.

Justify’s 16th Winner as Tres Soles Wins Churchill Downs MSW

Tres Soles (2c Justify x Chocolate Souffle, by Tapit) was another debut winner for JUSTIFY at Churchill Downs with a Maiden Special Weight victory.

The Steve Asmussen trained colt was sent out favourite and was first out of the gates in the six-furlong (1200m) race and entered a duel with another runner soon after.

Neither colt refused to yield, and Tres Soles showed a commendable amount of grit for a horse making his debut, when the 2-year-old refused to give in when pressured throughout the race.

He had held the led to the 300m point when his challenger took over, and it appeared Tres Soles would be beaten, but Tres Soles rallied strongly and hit the line hard over the final 100m to have his neck in front at the line, with the rest of the field 6¼ lengths behind the leading duo.

A $400,000 Keeneland September Yearling purchase Tres Soles is the first foal out of Chocolate Souffle, a daughter of Group 3 winner and multiple Group 1 placed Super Espresso. That mare is also the dam of stakes placed Eamonn. This family also includes Group 1 winners Althea, Balletto, Acoma, Covfefe and others.

Chocolate Souffle has a yearling filly by Triple Crown winner American Pharoah as well.

On Friday at Churchill Downs in Race 7, Justify had another youngster perform well, when 2yo Filly Justifying finished a gallant runner-up in a Maiden Special Weights event.

JUSTIFY is proving a First Crop Sire Sensation in North America with his progeny showing huge potential.

From 45 Starters he has produced 16 Winners (35.6%), 32 Placegetters (71.1%)
