LOOSE BUTTONS is by terrific young sire ZOUSTAR ex the Gr2 stakes placed mare SUNDAY ROSE – a daughter of Exceed and Excel.
This is an A+++ Cross that has produced 15 Stakes Winners.
Sunday Rose is a half-sister to Gr2 placed DIVINE MOON and Gr3 placed MOONBOAT – Dam of Gr3 placed INTO THE ABYSS and Listed placed AGHNA. Whilst the 3rd Dam is a half-sister to CANNY LAD, CANNY LASS, SISTER CANNY.
LOOSE BUTTONS has only had one race start as a 2yo and has been spelling since.
Her trials in the stable have been terrific and at her only start she pulled up extremely shinsore and was immediately spelled.
LOOSE BUTTONS was owned by Coolmore Stud, Mr J S Kelly and Mr J Wiltz.
The US based Mr Kelly was gravely ill and had instructed that all his bloodstock interests be dissolved by unreserved sale. Mr Kelly passed away last Saturday.
LOOSE BUTTONS as instructed was offered for sale unreserved to dissolve the partnership.
Having many horses in the Waterhouse / Bott Stables we were fully aware that the filly has so much ability and she would be sold due to Mr Kelly’s circumstances.
Dynamic Syndications had valued the filly to $125,000, 20% of her yearling price and basically two Saturday metro wins which we believe the filly, with what she has shown to date, may achieve.
As the bidding war continued Dynamic went $45,000 and that was countered by a bid at $50,000 to which we fired back $55,000.
Holding that bid it wasn’t countered and it was knocked down by the auctioneer who announced
Dynamic Syndications as the buyer.
There was immediate confusion as the underbidder was part owner
Coolmore Stud who mistakenly believed the held the $55,000 bid.
Coolmore sent their representative straight over to us asking could they buy the filly from us however we were not interested; we know how good she goes and her upside. She was
a $625,000 yearling and she is a 2yo with a terrific pedigree page.
