Arrowfield Stud shuttle stallion SHALAA (IRE) has had a busy season with his juveniles and
Quang Tri added to that success when scoring a stylish victory in the $160,000 VRC Taj Ross Final LR (1600m) at Flemington on Saturday.
SHALAA - Wonderful 2nd Crop Sire
SHALAA has under-lined his
value as an
outcross source of juvenile talent, with his
4th Australian 2YO Stakes Winner Quang Tri, who was an impressive winner.
Quang Tri
Quang Tri is the
ninth stakes-winner worldwide for Shalaa and is one of
13 Australian juvenile (2YO) winners this season for the Group 1 winning son of
Invincible Spirit.
The manner of
Quang Tri’s Flemington win, achieved with a sustained, straight-long chase after racing wide without cover, opens up exciting Classic possibilities for her in the Spring.
Bred and sold by Rushton Park, Quang Tri was a $90,000 buy from the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale and is trained by Patrick Payne.
Her dam Saigon Tea (by Spinning World’s son Thorn Park) won the 2400-metre Christmas Cup LR as a 5YO, and her grand-dam Boulevardofdreams won at Group 2 level in New Zealand before her Australian Oaks G1 third.
Shalaa’s latest European three 3YO Stakes Winners:
Night Endeavor, Siam Paragon &
Welwal have won from 1400m to 2400m, indicating a versatility that his precocious Australian progeny are also likely to display.
Quang Tri, along with Group Winners
Seven Veils (whose grand dam is by Spinning World) &
Semillion, and city winners including Shalstar, Shalailed & Gold Bucket head
Shalaa’s 50 Australian Winners this season. They have earned him
2nd spot by Winners and 5th position by prizemoney on the 2nd Season Sires’ Premiership.
Importantly, the progeny of
Shalaa are doing a great job as juveniles. He has sired
13 Individual 2yo Winners this season.
To put that statistic into focus,
SHALAA as a
second season sire with limited runners and
13 Winners only sits behind leaders:
Spirit Of Boom & Better Than Ready (20), Snitzel & I AM Invincible (16), Zoustar & Russian Revolution (14) whilst Capitalist & Deep Field also have 13 Winners.
SHALAA now from
2 crops is the sire of
53 Individual Winners of 77 races in Australia, including
10 Stakes Horses including 4 Stakes Winners and 6 Stakes Placegetters.
Overall SHALAA has clocked up 150 Individual Winners with 17 Stakes Horses being 9 Stakes Winners and 8 Stakes Placegetters.
The action on the track of his progeny explains the demand for Shalaa’s yearlings with 53 sold at major 2022 sales for over
5 times his service fee.
Shalaa stands at a fee of $33,000 at Arrowfield Stud this spring.
The team at Dynamic Syndications are very aware of the potency of SHALAA
At the 2022 Magic Millions Yearling Sales Gerry Harvey offered a super colt he had bred – Lot 902 by SHALAA from Darby’s Bid by REDOUTE’S CHOICE.
GERRY HARVEY has purchased 25% in our Colt
OUR COLT
OUR COLT under saddle ridden by Shane Rose
A lovely looking, athletic individual, that we believe can be an early
2yo type, he was late in the sale on the Saturday evening and we were
able to buy him for a terrific price of $80,000 + GST.
Gerry loved the colt so much and
has a great strike rate of success with horses Dynamic Syndications
purchase from him, that he advised he would buy 25% of the colt to race him with us to attempt to win his own Magic Millions in 2023.
Our belief in the sire and the Cross drove us to inspect LOT 902 and when he was sound and right of wind and limb with clean X-rays and a Grade 1 endoscopic evaluation, it was a no brainer to buy him.
And with Gerry jumping back in for a leg (25%) you won’t need a better endorsement than these factors combining.
