Dynamic Syndications tough and talented mare AFRICAN DAISY once again showed her class and determination, scoring a brilliant victory in Race 1 – The Midway Handicap (Benchmark 72, 1200m, $120,000 – 1st $55,000) at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday 13 September for Three-Years-Old and Upwards. Track Condition: Soft 6 | Time: 1:11.57 | Last 600m: 34.61.

Beautifully presented in peak condition by her Newcastle-based trainer Jason Deamer,

African Daisy ($21) made light work of a wide draw thanks to a copybook ride from promising apprentice Braith Nock (a2).

From the barriers, our tactical plan was clear – we were committed to taking advantage of her race fitness and the Soft 6 surface, Braith bounced African Daisy forward with intent, rolled across the field, and secured the prized position leading on the fence. From that point, the race was run to perfection.
Braith rated African Daisy with the maturity of a seasoned senior rider. He produced negative splits through the mid-stages (each furlong quicker than the last from the 1000m to the 200m), ensuring our mare conserved energy early while stretching the field behind her. By the time the challengers loomed, African Daisy was simply too strong.

Braith was so confident of victory that he was able to ease down over the final 100m, cruising to the post with 1.54 lengths up his sleeve.

It was African Daisy’s second victory at Rosehill over 1200m in her past four starts, underlining her affinity for the circuit and her genuine consistency.

This latest triumph is a credit to the teamwork of Dynamic Syndications, our trainer Jason Deamer, and apprentice jockey Braith Nock, who continues to impress with his tactical nous and cool head in pressure situations.

Importantly, since transferring the mare into the care of Jason Deamer, African Daisy has thrived.
Under his training methods she has had 12 starts for $182,475 in earnings, a wonderful return that reflects both the mare’s consistency and Jason’s horsemanship.
Braith Knock was interviewed by Sky Channel’s Chantelle Buckley post-race:
“Good job Braith, you were able to bowl along, and they were not able to catch her.”
Braith responded: “Yeah, last time we got crossed and I felt we needed to be going quicker and came off the bridal and never really found much. So, I think today, rolling at that tempo without cover I think she was she travelled really strong and I was able, I thought I got it easy enough to kick. She actually threw her head up a little bit awkwardly coming into the bend there but yeah, she let down really well today.”
Chantelle then asked: “Do you think she is better suited on this softer going? I know she's won on heavy, but she looks to really get through soft better.”
Braith answered: “Yeah I don’t think I have rode her on this surface before, I t might have been a good or a heavy but yeah, I just travelled. It took a while to get through my gears, but once we were there in front, I just travelled so sweetly and showed a nice turn of speed to put them away. Thank you.”
