ANAHEED a Daughter of Fastnet Rock Wins Gr3 Blue Sapphire

Beautifully bred Fastnet Rock filly ANAHEED had been lining up against the silk department in Sydney recently so she appreciated the trip down to Melbourne when recording a dominant win in Wednesday’s Gr3 Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield.

It was the third Group success for Anaheed having already won the Gr2 ATC Percy Sykes Stakes and Gr2 ATC Sweet Embrace Stakes as a 2yo.

Coming from just off the pace under Damian Lane, Anahhed kicked away to defeat Li'l Kontra by one length with Brooklyn Hustle a nose away third.

The filly was scratched from last Saturday's Gr3 Thoroughbred Club Stakes (1200m) to be saved for this event.

“She's a very good filly and we've always known that. It was good to see her perform today" the stable's foreman said.

Foaled and raised at Coolmore Stud, Anaheed is a homebred for Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum.

She advances her record to now 4 wins and 1 second from 10 starts with earnings of $1,277,650

Anaheed is a half-sister to stakes-placed Farooq and is the third winner for Gr1 winning Testa Rossa mare Rostova.

Rostova was purchased by the Sheikh for $850,000 at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in 2015 in foal to Frankel, and that mating produced the winning colt Farooq.

Rostova has a 2yo colt by Medaglia D'Oro (USA) named Epic Deal that was sold by Segenhoe Stud as agent at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for just $25,000.

After missing to Snitzel in 2017, Rostova is now in foal again to Anaheed's sire Fastnet Rock.
