An exciting new
Group 2 Winner for
AMERICAN PHAROAH was achieved on Saturday when
Coolmore’s racetrack hero and super Young Sire American Pharoah (USA) was represented by a stunning new Stakes-Winner in the USA, when lightly raced 4yo mare
AS TIME GOES BY made it a one act affair when streaking away in the
Group 2 Santa Margarita Stakes at Santa Anita.
A homebred for
Coolmore Stud and trained by the legendary Bob Baffert,
AS TIME GOES BY was an odds on favourite for the 1 and 1/8th mile (
1800m) contest and she strode home and allowed to eased down but was still a commanding
nine and a quarter length winner.
See her fly !
As Time Goes By from Dynamic Syndications on Vimeo.
Baffert has high hopes for
AS TIME GOES BY, who has the overall record
three (3) wins and three (3) placings from six starts with prizemoney topping $260,000.
Baffert, who also trained her
sensational sire American Pharoah, said.
“I was debating on running her next week in Kentucky or here, but since I want to develop her slowly and the Breeders' Cup [at Del Mar] is the main goal, we chose to stay here.”
“She's so sweet like her sire. She's the sweetest thing in the barn. I have a soft spot for her, because I think of American Pharoah every time I walk by her stall.”
AS TIME GOES BY is the 15th Stakes-Winner worldwide for American Pharoah and comes with an impressive pedigree.
She is from
TAKE CHARGE LADY (by DEHERE) and is a half-sister to
Champion USA 3YO Colt WILL TAKE CHARGE and
Group 1 winner TAKE CHARGE INDY, and she is the last foal from
2013 US Broodmare of the Year – TAKE CHARGE LADY, a three-time Group 1 winner and she is also the grand-dam of multiple Group 1 winners
TAKE CHARGE BRANDI and
OMAHA BEACH.
Followers of Dynamic Syndications are aware of the emphasis we place on the genetics of a pedigree, and identifying if a pedigree cross of the
Sireline over Broodmare Sireline has a propensity to work at a
higher rate of success than compared with the average success rate of all broodmare sirelines.
It’s this attention to detail that sets us apart and has delivered us with
250 individual Winners from 273 Individual Runners 91.6% over the past 16 years.
The data is there to be identified, it’s a matter of being able to interpret the data for financial advantage and ultimately racetrack success.
This is highlighted because, whilst
AS TIME GOES BY has a strong commercial pedigree page, she is by
AMERICAN PHAROAH (USA) - a son of
PIONEEROF THE NILE, who is a son of
EMPIRE MAKER who is a son of
UNBRIDLED.
Whilst she is out of a mare by
DEHERE (USA) who is a son of
DEPUTY MINISTER, himself a son of
VICE REGENT.
This is important because, we know from limited broodmares mated upon this cross, there has now been
3 Stakes Winners on the
Pioneerof The Nile x Deputy Minister cross, whilst there has now been
7 Stakes Winners on the Empire Maker x Vice Regent cross.
Most importantly – when you drill down the data, there has now been
42 Stakes Winners – nine (9) at Gr1 Level, by UNBRIDLED sireline stallions ex the DEPUTY MINISTER Broodmare Sireline.
It’s no coincidence!
It’s statistical fact that this cross works strongly and the most recent example is this
9.25 length win from
AS TIME GOES BY.
We believe there is an important aspect of following known crosses that have performed statistically well beyond expectations, as this gives us a major racetrack advantage for success.
PIONEEROF THE NILE x DEPUTY MINISTER Cross:
On the
EXACT CROSS of –
AMERICAN PHAROAH x DEHERE there has been
1 Runner:
AS TIME GOES BY – a Gr2 Winner
On the
Extended Cross – AMERICAN PHAROAH x DEPUTY MINISTER Broodmare Sireline there is
1 Runner:
FI FI PHAROAH - Stakes Placed
On the Extended Cross:
PIONEEROF THE NILE x DEPUTY MINISTER
64 Runners : 39 Winners (62.9%) : 3 Stakes Winners & 4 Stakes Placed
That’s 10.9% Stakes Horses to Runners & 17.9% Stakes Horses to Winners
Average Winning Distance 7.54 furlongs = 1550m

The oldest Australian bred progeny of American Pharoah are just two-year-olds.
He is doing a very good job here in Australia. He only has
78 named 2yo progeny, yet he has sired
10 runners to date – 3 Winners and 3 Placegetters which is
exceptional because nobody expected his progeny would run as early 2yo’s in the Southern Hemisphere.
The professionals have purchased his progeny to be
3yo’s and older horses, at distances between 1600m to 2400m.
This flash of precocity by his early 2yo’s saw
AMERICAN PHAROAH progeny remain in demand at the yearling sales this year, with his second crop selling for up to
$650,000 with
44 Yearlings Selling in 2021 for an
Average $202,045 and a Median of $155,000.

Dynamic Syndications believed this was the time to buy the
American Pharoah yearlings because they may have been more affordable than they were in his first crop, simply because they hadn’t had a lot of 2yo’s get to the track yet and in our
fickle fashion parade style market, there is an emphasis on buying precocious 2yo types.
We study the pedigree of every yearling catalogued for sale by
AMERICAN PHAROAH and settled on
two yearlings by the sire bred to excel under Australian conditions. The first was a
Filly at the
Magic Millions from the mare BLUE MONEY by Street Cry – a son of Machiavellian by Mr Prospector. She is
Sold Out.
Our AMERICAN PHAROAH x BLUE MONEY Filly - Sold Out
The other was from the
Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale and this
WOW FACTOR Colt is the
only COLT in the Southern Hemisphere by AMERICAN PHAROAH from a DEHERE mare.
We have available a Colt by AMERICAN PHAROAH x LISSON GROVE (by Dehere)
Our COLT is from the
brilliant Stakes Winner LISSON GROVE who has had
4 foals to race – 2 winners and 1 placed.
LISSON GROVE is a half-sister to
ONLY A LADY - the Group 1 ATC Flight Stakes Winner and placed in the Gr1 Oaks and she has produced multiple stakes winner and Gr1 performer
REDWOOD FALLS.
ONLY A LADY
REDWOOD FALLS
LISSON GROVE is also a half-sister to Stakes Winner and Gr3 placed
SMOKO, and to
London Lights – Dam of Gr3 Winner and Gr1 Placed
FARAWAY TOWN.
Bred and raised at leading thoroughbred nursery
YARRAMAN PARK, our
COLT has both the genetics and commercial pedigree needed to be a success on the racetrack with the
Marketable Appeal should he reach the heights his pedigree suggests, he could well become a
stallion prospect.
Clean X-rays and a Grade 1 perfect scope, with excellent conformation and athletic presence, this colt offers tremendous upside.
We also believed that
DEHERE mares would mate
brilliantly with AMERICAN PHAROAH and the only runner bred on that
Exact Cross in the Northern Hemisphere is a
9.25 length Gr2 Winner and we have his only progeny out of a DEHERE mare in the Southern Hemisphere.

Just how good was AMERICAN PHAROAH?
He is one of the greatest performers in the USA since legendary US champions NATIVE DANCER, SEATTLE SLEW and SECRETARIAT and the thoroughbred world is indeed lucky he was made available by COOLMORE to horse breeders in both hemispheres.
America’s Triple Crown winner is a handsome bay horse standing proudly at 16.2 hands high.
With perfect conformation and bone to match, he has massive jaw and nostril width for maximum rapid airflow, and he must have a heart the size of a lion to fit within his deep expansive girth.
An iconic racehorse with a wonderful physique, he is now
leaving the image of himself in his progeny and they have represented
him with great success seeing him be crowned Champion First Crop Sire
and Second Crop Sire in the USA with all those Stakes Winning 2yo’s and
the Breeders Cup Juvenile Sprint Winner and third placegetter on turf !
