Brilliant sprinter ATOMIC FORCE is scheduled to have an easy time at the barrier trials at Rosehill on Tuesday morning 17/7. However he will only go around if the track is not too badly rain affected.
The Dual Gr1 Winner of 11 races will be using the trial just as a soft foundation gallop to continue building his fitness as he heads towards the Spring Carnival.
He is scheduled to compete in Heat 4 and is number 11. The heat is scheduled for 8:45am.
Should the rain continue during the lead up to the trial, he will be scratched. He will not be risked on a boggy surface at this stage of his preparation.
This will be his first hard gallop this time in. Due to the continued rain, the training tracks have been a mess and we have needed to go steady with Atomic Force as we build the foundation fitness.
He will then be aimed at trialing again at Rosehill on August 3 where he will have a serious hit out before heading down the highway to Melbourne. He will either resume on August 25 at Moonee Valley or September 1 at Caulfield.
Trainer Darren Smith cannot be happier with the horse at this stage of his preparation and his comments have encouraged connections. Darren is of the opinion the horse is in the best shape he has ever been with whilst in Darren’s care.
Fully mature, injury free and a happy horse after a well earned spell, Atomic Force should be a force in the Spring and importantly, handles rain affected ground as well as he handles being on top. With question marks at this early stage over fitness levels of the few of the other top liners in Australia, with average luck and finger’s crossed, he looks ideally placed to have another competitive carnival.
