AUSSIE PHAROAH trained by Mack Griffith at Mudgee, won Race 5, the Mountain View Hotel Bm50 1550m at Gilgandra on Saturday, when ridden by Clayton Gallagher.
AUSSIE PHAROAH advanced his resume to 13 starts: 2 Wins, 2 Seconds, 1 Third and $46,600.
AUSSIE PHAROAH (4yo geld American Pharoah x Lisson Grove) carried 61.0kgs to a 4.38 lengths WIN over runner-up Searchlight (57.5kgs) with Edith’s Joy (57.5kgs) 6.1 lengths third.
The race was marred by a fall by our rider Clayton Gallagher after the winning post, where as a result he broke his wrist. AUSSIE PHARAOH took fright on pulling up and ducked toward the outside rail and ended up hurdling the fence. Fortunately, our horse was fine, but sadly it left our rider Clayton Gallagher who hit the deck hard, hurting his wrist and ankle.
AUSSIE PHAROAH went around to the post favourite, but a late plunge on another runner named War Toy saw our horse drift from $2.90 to start at $4.60 second favourite. For the record the plunge horse finished a long 32.6 lengths last.
From the time the gates crashed back until the camera flashed the race panned out perfectly, as AUSSIE PHAROAH was ridden to instruction. Straight to the front and stay there throughout.
AUSSIE PHAROAH was never challenged and was eased down the last 150m, yet still recorded a slick 1:34.40.
AUSSIE PHAROAH was left alone in front to bowl along under his own steam and was never challenged throughout the event.
Setting a new Class Record time, lowering the standard set in February 2023 by Turgenev of 1:34.71.
AUSSIE PHAROAH set the new benchmark shaving 0.31 second off the previous best time and this equates to a margin of approximately 2-lengths.
It’s Bittersweet as our thoughts and sympathies are naturally with our jockey who will be out of the saddle for about 6 weeks with his injuries.
Well done to Clayton on his terrific job rating AUSSIE PHAROAH in the lead. Also, congratulations and thanks to Mack Griffiths on training Team Dynamic another Winner.
AUSSIE PHAROAH had his hoof on the till and was due this well-deserved win. Two starts back he was runner-up by half a length with a game effort, then last start, he received an inexplicable steer that gave our horse zero chance of success. Here in this event, and ridden correctly, he gave his peers a galloping lesson.
