Champion 3YO Racehorse
THE AUTUMN SUN
(Redoute’s Choice)
had a sensational weekend as a
First Crop Sire
with his daughter
AUTUMN BALLET
trained by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott
creating history when winning the
Gr3 BLACK OPAL Stakes
whilst 24 hours earlier The Autumn Sun’s New Zealand-based daughter
TULSI
finished
third
in the Gr1 Diamond S. 1200m at Pukekohe.
Exciting First Crop Sire THE AUTUMN SUN
The Autumn Sun has now posted his
First Stakes Winner
and his
First Group 1 performer
from his first six (6) 2YO runners.
AUTUMN BALLET wins the Gr3 BLACK OPAL on Debut
It was a
Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained quinella in the BLACK OPAL
when
AUTUMN BALLET
created history
in winning the feature on debut, because in the
50-year history
of the Black Opal no debutant had ever won Canberra’s feature 2yo race.
AUTUMN BALLET
became the highly promising First Crop Sire THE AUTUMN SUN’s second individual winner and First Stakes Winner
Ridden by
Tim Clark, Autumn Ballet
tracked stablemate The Years (Time Test), before taking over at the 250m to win by two lengths with Make A Call (Extreme Choice) a length back in third.
Stable representative Neil Paine said
"Gai is here to break records. Gai and Adrian, what a terrific partnership, to be able to get this filly to the race and win first-up.
“Our stable is enjoying a terrific run with the two-year-olds.
“Tim rode that beautiful and we got the quinella.”
Purchased from the Arrowfield Stud draft at the 2022 Inglis Australian Easter,
AUTUMN BALLET
is the daughter of
THE AUTUMN SUN
and is the second winner from as many to race out of the Street Cry (IRE) mare
GRISI.
Grisi is a half-sister to Group 2 Meydan Zabeel Mile winner Zakouski (Shamardal), Group 3 Up and Coming Stakes winner and Group 1 Golden Rose runner-up Albrecht (Redoute’s Choice), and Group 3 Prix Thomas Bryon winner King’s Command (Dubawi). Grisi’s dam O’Giselle (Octagonal) is a sister to champion racehorse and sire Lonhro.
THE AUTUMN SUN was a 5-time Group 1 winning son of Redoute’s Choice and stands at Arrowfield Stud for a fee of $66,000.
Jockey Tim Clark said of
AUTUMN BALLET,
"
She’s a very good filly to come here and be able to win on debut…I think we’re only just really scratching the surface with her at the moment.
"She’s a lovely filly, got a lovely temperament…it’s a bit scary to think where she could end up."
In the short-term that is likely to be in the field for the $1 million Percy Sykes S. on 8 April, Day 2 of The Championships.
Little more than
24 hours before Autumn Ballet’s Group 3 win,
The Autumn Sun’s New Zealand-based daughter
TULSI
finished an excellent third in Saturday’s Diamond S. 1200m Gr1.
The race was won by the unbeaten colt Tokyo Tycoon from two-time winner Ulanova, both considerably more experienced than Tulsi who was The Autumn Sun’s first winner at her debut.
Described as a
"superstar filly in the making"
by her trainers Johno Benner & Hollie Wynyard, Tulsi (ex Talimena by Lonhro) Tulsi’s next target is likely to be the Manawatu Sires’ Produce S. Gr1 at Awapuni on 1 April.
Dynamic Syndications
have an extremely promising 2yo colt by
The Autumn Sun ex Flidais
who also is trained by
Gai and Adrian.
RHISSUU
He had a recent trial on 20 February at Randwick where he finished 2nd to his stablemate and the
flashing lights were all over his efforts
on that morning and the time was very slick.
Dynamic Syndications went back to the well at the Magic Millions and purchased a colossal colt by
THE AUTUMN SUN ex TOTAL DISCRETION
(by Northern Meteor).
Yearling Colt - ex TOTAL DISCRETION
The Dam was a speedy filly winning at 1100m and placed at Moonee Valley as a 2yo and hails from a super Black Type pedigree saturated in 2yo winners.
This cross of
REDOUTE’S CHOICE over NORTHERN METEOR
mares is
highly successful
and rates
A+++ A+++ Q7
which placed him in the
TOP 20
Lots in the catalogue by genetic balance.
Our vet Dr Tim Roberts
also gave him his highest rating score on type at the saleyard.
There was only ever one stable that this colt was heading too, which is
GAI & ADRIAN.
That was before they were having such a wonderful season especially with their babies, and the job they have done with
our 2yo Rhissuu
and to achieve history with
AUTUMN BALLET
in the Black Opal, it becomes an obvious choice.
Details of our
THE AUTUMN SUN
ex
TOTAL DISCRETION
Chestnut Yearling Colt will become available later this year.
