Sibling pride was not to be denied over the weekend when our
magnificently bred 4yo gelding
AWESOME LAD (by I AM INVINCIBLE from SENSIBLE LADY (USA)) simply refused to allow his
Dynamic Syndications owned 3yo Full Sister DOMINANT LADY receive all the kudos after she had
WON impressively the day before at Newcastle.
AWESOME LAD became Dynamic Syndications 4th Winner for the weekend by Winning Race 6 at Hawkesbury on Sunday, the HRC MOTEL 4YO & UP Benchmark 64 Handicap 1300m. He clocked 1:16.63 with a Last 600m: 33.90 to pick up the 1st $16,740 first prize.
AWESOME LAD winning Race 6 at Hawkesbury
AWESOME LAD defeated ROMAN WOLF by 0.63 and third was PATRINA by 0.74
His Career Record now reads:
4 starts: 2 Wins: 0 Seconds: 1 Third and Prizemoney: $43,205
AWESOME LAD is trained for us by Jason Deamer at Newcastle and our horse looked a picture in the parade ring.
Like his full sister the day before, this was
AWESOME LAD’s first race start for
Dynamic Syndications and our loyal team of owners.
We had purchased
AWESOME LAD ($75,000) and his younger Full Sister
DOMINANT LADY ($45,000) both from the Gooree Park Stud dispersal sale of the Estate of the Late Eduardo Cojuangco held at the Magic Millions on the 4th August.
DOMINANT LADY 3yo Full Sister to AWESOME LAD Winning Race 2 at Newcastle on Saturday
We gave both horses to Jason Deamer to train for us.
Jason has done a brilliant job with them and on Sunday, we were extremely happy with our horse entering into this event but firmly believed whatever he did he would improve on significantly in his next two starts.
Tactically after seeing the speed map, we wanted to be tucked in just behind the speed as we felt on paper it looked as if the race would be run fast upfront and set itself for swoopers.
We also knew that he has been a bit of a lazy trackworker and if the riders dropped their hands he would think the job was done, so we didn’t want to be on pace but rather chase the leaders and arrive over the last 100m.
We got the tactics right because that is how the race panned out and thanks to a great ride by
Rachel King, we were able to deliver a first-up victory for our owners.
The race panned out perfectly from the time the gates opened.
There was a charge upfront with
AWESOME LAD among 5 horses all vying for the lead.
Rachel continued to stay in the running line making those horses work hard to her outside to cross.
After the field had run 150m, Rachel eased back a length and that saw the tempo continue but allowed Rachel without working too hard to find the fence, two lengths off the leaders, as the field was leaving the back straight to run down the side of the track passing the 800m.
The field started to condense as they ran into the home turn and Rachel kept
AWESOME LAD travelling on the bit, following the fence saving ground just behind the speed.
As the field straightened for the run to the post, at the 300m mark
AWESOME LAD was ready to go but the leaders in front of him were running about like drunken sailors and the gaps kept opening and closing.
Rachel patiently stayed on the fence, persevering for an inside run.
From the 250m to the 150m there was nowhere to go but as they passed the 100m mark,
AWESOME LAD and Rachel King
bullied their way through a narrow gap that appeared on the fence and that gave
AWESOME LAD the clear running and confidence he needed. Our Dynamic Duo let fly to go to the line full of running to claim a widening victory by 0.63 length.
The margin would have been significant had he got out earlier but that was not necessary.
However, the coolness under pressure and the driving finish by Rachel King made sure there was plenty in the tank when they needed it most.
