AWESOME LAD
When a horse with incredible
upside, magnificent
conformation, has displayed indisputable
ability and has a
genuine reason for sale comes onto the market, you need to be
astute.
When you have all the
knowledge and full
history of the horse, from
conception to foaling, raising and grazing, breaking-in and education, pre-training, training and full veterinary records, you gain
confidence.
When you can allow
“your eyes to be your judge and your pockets be your guide,” you have the distinct advantage.
AWESOME LAD at the Sale 4th August
But the icing on top is when you are
already part of the team that is offering such an opportunity and you receive the ultimate
“inside information” about what is happening, then you have almost ticked all the boxes.
Now
add in the biggest tick of all, when your contracted veterinarian declares the horse
“sound of wind and limb” and concurs with information received from other sources, then your
due diligence is done.
The final piece of the puzzle is to establish the
correct market value and set a
ceiling price.
When you determine that the horse has a value into the six figures and you purchase that horse for what is a substantial discount to the market appraisal, then the planets have aligned.
This is what happened for
Dynamic Syndications on the 4th August at the
Magic Millions National Sale where the
Estate of the Late EDUARDO COJUANGCO sold their horses in an unreserved complete dispersal.
AWESOME LAD at Gooree Park before heading up to the Magic Millions Sales

AWESOME LAD - HISTORY:
Bred by Eduardo Cojuangco
Raised and Grazed at the magnificent Gooree Park Stud – Mudgee
Broken-in, pre- trained and spelled at Gooree Park
RACING OVERVIEW:
As an early 2yo every measure was taken to keep him a colt because of his pedigree and stallion potential.
However, he was both immature mentally and physically and had an alpha male character as a colt therefore his temperament and stubbornness prevented him from starting as a 2yo.
He was spelled after 2 trials and was gelded.
He resumed from that gear change, two stone lighter and a different individual. Far more tractable and willing to work with his riders.
His first trial back was just a soft fitness foundation effort.
His second trial for the preparation he trailed up well for an easy win.
On debut he Won at Gosford over 1200m leading all the way defeating a stablemate.
Believing they had a horse that may develop into a nice horse in the Spring, but was needing to be placed onto the right calendar pathway, he was tipped out for just 4 weeks and then came back into work.
He had two lead in trials with the first on the 5th May for fitness and the second trial on the 27th May when he ran second by a nose.
Then two weeks before this resumption race, Eduardo Cojuangco passed away on 6th June.
The estate requested that the horse runs and then returns to Gooree Park to be prepared for a dispersal sale.
The horse went first-up to Newcastle over 1200m on 20 June. A poor barrier and no luck had him trapped wide without cover throughout and eventually the hard run told and fitness told.
The stable believed his hoof was on the till and requested that they keep him going for just one more run which would still give Gooree Park plenty of time to prepare the horse for the sale.
The Estate accepted that request and AWESOME LAD ran on the 7th July where he ran third beaten just 1.6 lengths working home stylishly in fast time, in what proved to be a good form race.
On the 8th July AWESOME LAD was on the truck back to Gooree and was spelled for exactly 4 weeks from the 8th July to 4th August when we purchased him at the sales.

Here is his most recent start when 3rd at Newcastle on 7 July
Awesome Lad from Dynamic Syndications on Vimeo.
AWESOME LAD was sent to
Bimbadeen Park under the guidance of
Shane Rose our pre-trainer.
He had
5 days off in the paddock to unwind from the trip up to the sales, the saleyard process and then float trip down to Bimbadeen Park.
On
Monday 10th August, AWESOME LAD resumed pre-training with Shane Rose and will be sent to his new trainer
JASON DEAMER on Monday 31st August.
What we learned from Newcastle spies prior to the sale:
Dynamic Trainer - Jason Deamer
Jason Deamer knew of the horse who was trained by Kris Lees at Newcastle.
Both stables share the same veterinary practice and we were aware that the horse had no veterinary issues.
We investigated with senior ground staff, track riders and jockeys that had worked with the horse previously. The reports were glowing on the horse since he had been gelded (they weren’t so complimentary of him when he was a young 2yo colt!).
What we learned from Gooree Park prior to the sale:
As our followers are aware, we have a team of horses spelling and pre-training at
Gooree Park under the care of manager
Andrew Baddock and pre-trainer
Mack Griffith and they have become an integral part of the
Dynamic Syndications team.
ANDREW BADDOCK
We were advised which of the Estate’s horses we should be targeting to become members of
Team Dynamic based upon racetrack ability and veterinary soundness.
Dynamic Syndications didn’t miss our targets and purchased each of their highly recommended horses.
At the sales we had our own contracted veterinarian
Dr Tim Roberts attend and represent us. Tim examined each horse in detail and then, as they passed physical inspection, Tim performed an endoscopic evaluation. Each of the horses we purchased had a
Grade 1 (clean) scope.
AWESOME LAD presented as he had been represented by
Andrew, Mack, Jason and Tim gave him the tick of approval.
He represented fantastic value when knocked down to our bid at
$75,000 plus GST = $82,500 based upon breeding, conformation and ability. He is lightly raced and has tremendous upside.
We had
significantly more in our pockets to buy him and believed we would need to pay well into
six figures to secure him.

He is now fully mature. He has displayed genuine ability and with such wonderful prizemoney on offer he is “as cheap as chips.”
5% Shares are $5,280 inc GST which includes all training fees, float fees, and other costs out to 30 September and Full Insurance to 1 November.
It is envisaged that
AWESOME LAD will be
ready to race early November and then can have a lovely preparation over the summer months.
Purchased with distinct targets in mind, he will be aimed to progress through the easy races to win back his purchase price and gain confidence, fitness and experience, raising his Benchmark ratings slowly before heading into more competitive city class racing over the Christmas period.
AWESOME LAD offers our owners what may turn into the ultimate “inside information”
“Remember – it’s not always what you know, it’s often who you know!”
