A two year-old taking on a field of 3yo’s at the provincials in NSW at this time of year needs to be exceptional just to be competitive.
Today we saw one that is outstanding.
ALL TOO SWEET, a 2yo gelding by ALL TOO HARD trained by John Sargent at Randwick showed his ability on a good surface at Hawkesbury on Tuesday when as the only 2yo in the event beat a field full of 3yo’s.
All Too Sweet ridden by Jeff Penza jumped quickly and went forward, then raced on the pace at the leader. Turning for home All Too Sweet kicked and put a length on his rivals. Despite being green and stargazing over the concluding stages, he fought strongly to win the 1300 metre maiden by half a neck and coming home a slick 34.22 last 600m which was terrific for an inexperienced 2yo.
A Magic Millions purchase for George Moore Bloodstock (HK), All Too Sweet is the first winner for her US Group 1 winning dam - Rightly So (USA), who passed away last year. Her final foal, is another yearling colt by All Too Hard.
All Too Sweet became the fourth winner for All Too Hard.
The sire also had a second placegetter on Tuesday at Geelong with the David Hayes trained two year-old gelding Rocketcod was resuming from a spell and he also was the only 2yo in the field taking on the older horses.
