The
Listed MVRC Atlantic Jewel Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley, was won by
ZOUZARELLA who zoomed to a powerful two length victory.
Zouzarella wins the Listed Atlantic Jewel stakes
Zouzarella became the 24th stakes-winner for her sire Zoustar, who stands at
Widden Stud in 2021 at a
service fee of $154,000.

Zouzarella had opened her account with a commanding winning debut at the same track on August 21 on a good track surface and last Saturday on soft going, she took a quantum leap to
win a stakes race at just her second start.
Zouzarella was ridden quietly by
Brett Prebble and stormed home out wide on the track to score an impressive
2 length win over the Godolphin filly Larkspur Run with Literary Magnate a further 0.8 length back in third spot.
Trainer Sam Freedman said
"She's handled the ground (soft) at home and in her trials, she's handled it really well. We knew she would,”.
"She didn't have a lot of luck in running, but she is that sort of big-framed filly who probably enjoys a bit room when she's able to pin the ears back like that.
"The query today was that she's looking for 1400 and she was powerful to the line.
"She'll probably head to the Jim Moloney Stakes next and then we'll probably go to the Thousand Guineas after that.
"A big thank you to Cambridge Stud for sending her our way. She's a beautiful filly."
Brett Prebble has been aboard
Zouzarella at each of her wins and is in love with the daughter of
Zoustar.
“What you're seeing is what I felt a very long time ago. When it comes to fruition, it’s a nice feeling,” he said.
"It doesn't matter what the distance is when they're that good. The Freedman’s have had champions win derbies and then winning three Lightnings in a row, so I'm not telling the Freedman’s where to run a horse, but wherever she goes I just hope I've got a seat on her."
Zouzarella was consigned to the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by Glastonbury Stud, where
Cambridge Stud were holding the bid when the hammer fell at
$250,000.
She is the second foal and second winner for the well-performed
Al Maher (Danehill) mare
Zazparella, a 6-time winning sister to the stakes-placed Almachino and a half-sister to stakes-placed Let’s Get Nauti Gal.
Her dam Zazparella was purchased for $45,000 at the 2016 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale. After foaling a So You Think filly last spring, Zazparella was covered by Highland Reel (IRE).
Zouzarella (by Al Maher – a son of Danehill), comes with an intriguing pedigree as she has a double cross of not only Danehill, but also Fairy King, not to mention blue hen Dancing Show as her pedigree also features Redoute’s Choice and his three-quarter brother-in-blood Al Maher.
Zouzarella is the
Second Stakes Winner this new racing season for boom sire ZOUSTAR, following on from the Gr3 Aurie Star Winner
The Astrologist (5yo g by Flying Spur).
Both Stakes Winners are from Danehill line mares.
Zouzarella became the

We went to the sales to buy the best on type we could find by the sire only from a Fastnet Rock broodmare, as we knew this is statistically the best cross for Zoustar.
He’s a great type; big, strong, and very athletic, he’s conformation is flawless, and he is sound of wind and limb, with clean X-rays and a Grade 1 endoscopic evaluation. He has broken-in superbly and under saddle is exciting Australian Olympian Shane Rose with his intelligence and easy flowing, effortless action everytime Shane works him.
