A filly with
above average ability, the talented
Asteroidea (2f American Pharoah x Starfish, by Redoute's Choice) made a
winning debut on Friday at Sale and she lived up to the expectation of punters.
The Mike Moroney trained
Asteroidea showed her class in a recent jumpout at Flemington, so was
heavily backed and did not disappoint.
Ridden by Patrick Moloney
Asteroidea was sent forward and led all the way. She always looked to have the 1100m maiden in her keeping, was not threatened when
cruising clear for a dominant length victory.
A $575,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Coolmore draft,
Asteroidea was foaled and raised at Coolmore Stud and is a half-sister to Group 2 placed Wolf Cry and stakes-placed Glenbawn Dame.
The most expensive yearling filly by American Pharoah sold in Australia, she is the sixth winner from six foals to race from top producer Starfish, a Group 3 placed half-sister to stakes-winner Brilliant Bisc by Redoute’s Choice, from Group 1 winner Stella Cadente.
Coolmore sold the Pierro yearling colt from Starfish at Magic Millions this year to
Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott / Kestrel Thoroughbreds for $400,000 and the mare is now in foal to Justify.
Asteroidea became the fourth Australian winner for first crop Australian sire American Pharoah, with another four placegetters. The exciting young sire has produced 19 stakes-winners in the Northern Hemisphere.
American Pharoah returns to Australia this spring and stands at a Service Fee of $49,500.

GAI WATERHOUSE, DEAN & FIONA WATT - DYNAMIC SYNDICATIONS , ADRIAN BOT
Our AMERICAN PHAROAH x LISSON GROVE Colt is under the care of champion trainer
GAI WATERHOUSE and ADRIAN BOTT.
AMERICAN PHAROAH as a sire is unlikely to produce you a
speedy squib 2yo, as they are not what his genetics is about.
He will produce a horse to excel at distances between
1600m – 2000m and further as 3yo’s and older horses.
However, what we are very pleased to see developing in the Northern
Hemisphere, with his turf horses is that speed mares are giving his
progeny the much-needed turn of foot, required for a sire to be
successful.
LISSON GROVE is a DEHERE mare.
DEHERE was a
Gr1 winner at 1600m and an elite sire with over
80 stakes winners, and he imparts
miler genetics into this female line, whilst
LISSON GROVE herself was a
speed race filly and offers a
turn of foot capacity and the prospect of a more precocious type as an early Spring 3yo.
As a broodmare LISSON GROVE is doing the job with 5 Named Foals: 4 to Race: 3 Winners & 1 Placed
Whilst, there are never any guarantees in the racing game, we would rather have statistics align.
Our COLT who is a
sensational sort, with a
Champion trainer, out of a
Stakes Winning 2yo who herself was a daughter of a
super sire.
OUR COLT is by a sire producing
sensational statistical data. As the saying goes
“Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics.”
Facts are facts -
AMERICAN PHARAOH is producing
Black Type horses at an
elite strike rate whilst
OUR COLT is arguably the
BEST-BRED SON of the sire in the
Southern Hemisphere by genetic balance.
Add in the fact he has
broken-in like a Ferrari rather than a
clapped-out VW adds a further tick to say
OUR COLT has the lot.
The
professional buyers love the
AMERICAN PHAROAH progeny.
In 2021, he had
45 yearlings sell for an
Average of $197,556 and a Median of $155,000.
