Att DYNAMIC OWNERS – New SUPER MAIDENS Add $6.5m A Year To NSW Race Programs

Racing NSW
hierarchy have been
"badgered
" by this author, and other leading industry participants and luminaries for some years about the
rising record levels of prizemoney in NSW
not
adequately
“
hitting the mark”
in
protecting Owners
against rising costs of initial investment and ongoing horse husbandry costs.
Whilst we all acknowledge racing is aspirational, and we need record prizemoney levels to gain
headlines Nationally and Internationally
for our sport,
Team Dynamic
have been advocating for a long time to see prizemoney distribution levels of
MAIDEN RACES
be increased, allowing owners an opportunity for a
“quick fix”
for their initial investment in horses and costs.
Not every horse can win a race, sadly that is a statistical fact of the sport. Further not every horse can go on and win multiple races due to the many various aspects related to ability, injury, and other numerous causes.
So, to
reward Owners
for their initial investments, and to
give Owners
that
“sugar hit”
sensation of increased financial rewards early is
vital to Owner’s sustainability.
Racing has never been better in NSW under the guidance of the current board
and their management ensures
ongoing prizemoney sustainability.
Below is an extract of the
RACING NSW announcement of SUPER MAIDENS.
Racing NSW have announced from 1 September 2023 they are introducing
SUPER MAIDENS
to the racing programme which will run for massive additional prizemoney across NSW on
midweek metropolitan, provincial and country Showcase and country TAB meetings.
The Super Maidens will insert a further
$6.5 million
per annum in prizemoney to participants taking the total payment for MAIDEN RACES in NSW to
$64.5m.
Distribution will be as follows:
• Metropolitan
SUPER MAIDENS
will be run
weekly
at midweek metropolitan programs for prizemoney of
$100,000.
• Two (
2
) Provincial SUPER MAIDENS will be run
each week
carrying prizemoney of
$60,000.
• One (
1
) Country SUPER MAIDEN will be run at all
65 Showcase
meetings
for prizemoney of
$50,000.
• One (
1
) Country SUPER MAIDEN will be run at one designated Country TAB meeting
each week
.
This announcement comes
in addition
to the already announced
$27 million
per annum of prizemoney increases commencing in NSW on 1 August 2023.
“Racing NSW already pays out
$58 million
in prizemoney for maiden races per annum and now with Super Maidens this will take it to
$64.5 million
per annum,”
said Racing NSW's Chairman Russell Balding.
“The Super Maidens will enable owners to recoup a larger share of their outlay with their horse’s first race win,”
Mr Balding added.
