BONG BONG CUP – WON IT ! (Track Record Time)
FRENZIED wins the 2019 KJ Scaffolding / CBC Building BONG BONG CUP by 0.23 len
Congratulations to Australia’s First Lady of Racing GAI WATERHOUSE and co-trainer ADRIAN BOTT as the Dynamic Duo were trackside to cheer home our Daisy Hill Stud (Vic) bred, Inglis Premier Sale graduate and Dynamic Syndications purchased FRENZIED (Americain x Paris Tryst) as he claimed the KJ Scaffolding / CBC Building 2019 BONG BONG CUP with a tough and resounding last place to first win, claiming victory in the shadows of the post, under the steadier of 68.5kgs top weight, thanks to a brilliantly judged ride by the King of the Picnic Circuit - Ricky Blewitt.
Pre-race Connections
pre-race tactics with Ricky Blewitt
With the excitement running through the veins of our trackside co-owners: Stephen “The Kouk” Koukoulas, Noel Patterson, Steve Minahan, Eddie Klaassen and Dynamic Syndications Adam Watt, FRENZIED had a big job to do and what was not part of our plan was the way they were supposed to do it!
In typical Waterhouse and Bott bone and muscle fashion, the team like their horses on speed but as the gates crashed back – disaster!
FRENZIED botched the jump and walked out a clear last and then, was slow into stride, settling 5 lengths behind the second last runner in the field of 10 and by the time they had run a furlong, he was at least 15 lengths off the leader.
However, the Gai and Adrian toughness they polish into their horses and the skill of Ricky Blewitt both kicked in.
Ricky angled FRENZIED across to the rail and as the field swung past the winning post the first time, that tight turn saw a few run wide, allowing FRENZIED to sneak up and save a few lengths as the field swung into the back straight.
Then down the back, Ricky had improved along the fence to sit 6 lengths off the speed, mid-field on the fence, and whilst travelling beautifully in a rhythm, the risk was coming up, as they rounded the 600m mark as to how he was going to be able to angle out.
At the 450m, the gap appeared and the hulking frame of FRENZIED and the skill of Ricky the pair pushed their way out to 3 deep rounding the home turn, still some 3 lengths off the lead.
However the big weight was no issue and the fast early race tempo saw the leaders gasping for air at the 100m as FRENZIED chimed in to the roar of the big crowd on hand as the race favourite FRENZIED hit the front at the 50m mark, claiming the lead over the early leader Iggy The Moucher and FRENZIED under the urging of Ricky, went on to the record a 0.23 length win over the Tash Burleigh trained runner-up Ritmico (64.0kgs), with the Bjorn Baker trained early leader Iggy The Moucher (68.0kgs) fading to finish a further 0.25 len away back in 3rd position.
FRENZIED stopped the clock at a time of 1:35.88 for the testing 1560m trip which stands as a New Track Record. In fact, he smashed the class record lowering it by a massive 0.62 secs which is approximately 4 lengths.

There were hugs and high five’s all around as Gai and Adrian had just trained their second BONG BONG Cup winner in a row, having won the 2018 edition with Zeppelin.

FRENZIED in the Winners Circle with Owners and Connections
It was a tremendous thrill for rider Ricky Blewitt, who is a valuable Team Member of Dynamic Syndications, so for Ricky to ride our Bong Bong Cup Winner for us made the win very special.
Post race debrief - Winners are grinners !
It was also a great result for The Kouk and Noel to be able to claim this prestigious NSW Picnic event.

It was fun to watch the post-race celebrations back in the Waterhouse/Bott Marquee as Adam and Adrian drank from their Winning Owners Cup and the Winning Trainers Cup.
As much as we love winning stakes races on feature days and maidens in the bush, there is something special about country racing and even moreso about Picnic Racing.
FRENZIED was resuming from a spell here and is a great example of the horse husbandry and management of their operation to have our horse, fit well and ready to be strong late under the big weight.
FRENZIED has now taken his record to 6 starts: 3 Wins and $55,400. He has won at 1560m, 1600m and 2000m.
A lovely looking horse he has taken time to grow into his big frame but always shown ability and this preparation promises to offer his ownership team a lot of fun and enjoyment.
