Young Warrnambool trainer Mitchell Freedman showed that the big occasions are within his grasp with exciting 1600m - 2000m prospect
BRAVO TANGO who was the best of good things beaten on Saturday at Flemington when
running a courageous 2nd in the Antler Stakes Listed Race over 1400m.
Snitzpeg hangs on to beat Bravo Tango and Sircconi
Officially known as the
VRC Poseidon Stakes, BRAVO TANGO was defeated twice in this event – once on the track and then in the stewards’ room but his supporters would have been elated with the massive run the horse put in.
Locked away on the fence at the tail of the field throughout most of the trip until they turned for home,
Bravo Tango with Ben Melham aboard, was in a lock fast pocket with nowhere to go trying to take a run between the winner Snitzpeg and Sircconi. Again at the 100m the gap closed.
Angling for runs everywhere nothing was happening until it was too late but when the gap opened he sprouted wings attacking the line but alas, missed the winner by 0.75 length.
However the interference was enough to inspire connections to lodge a protest which was later dismissed.
Stewards extract - Brave Tango: “Correct weight was delayed when Ben Melham, rider of Bravo Tango (second placegetter) viewed the patrol videos before lodging an objection against Snitzepeg (winner) alleging interference shortly after straightening. On the evidence it was established that shortly after straightening, Bravo Tango was held up for a run between Snitzepeg and Sircconi where there was not sufficient room and was then held up until approaching the 100m. Stewards believed there was never a run for Bravo Tango and therefore the objection was dismissed and correct weight was declared.”
Connections believe they have a genuine
Australian Guineas prospect (1600m Gr1 in the Autumn) on their hands.
With not a suitable option immediately available, Bravo Tango is likely heading to the paddock to allow Mitchell Freedman to set his horse for that race.
BRAVO TANGO has become the second stakes performer from 5 foals to race from the quality broodmare PAS DE DEUX (IRE) by Sadler’s Wells.
He joins his Full-brother CHIMBORRA who was Gr1 placed and Group 2 placed as a 2yo in Sydney then sold to HK for $1.4 million.
PAS DE DEUX (IRE) has now had 5 foals to race; 4 winners and 1 placed including these two stakes horses.
Dynamic Syndications purchased the yearling filly out of the mare at the 2017 Magic Millions.
By ALL TOO HARD – he has now established a good lead in the Second Season Sires Premiership and this mating is by far the strongest that the mare has received by her owners.
Additionally this stakes performance of Bravo Tango now being added to our filly’s pedigree page has certainly increased the commercial value of our filly both now and later as a broodmare when racing retirement looms.
BRAVO TANGO is the full brother to CHIMBORRA - who was Gr1 placed in the ATC Champagne Stakes and Gr2 placed in the ATC Pago Pago Stakes as a 2yo in Sydney.
CHIMBORRA
At the Magic Millions Yearling Sale in 2017 we purchased a magnificent filly by boom sire ALL TOO HARD from PAS DE DEUX (IRE) which makes our filly the half-sister to both stakes horses - CHIMBORRA and BRAVO TANGO.
