Dynamic Syndications continually researches data about breeding trends and genetic balances to pedigrees to establish understandings as to what works and what doesn’t work in thoroughbred breeding.
Successful crosses are those that keep replicating quality results at a higher propensity for success than those compared to the average.
When you are unable to match the fashion hype in the yearling salering, when you don’t have seven figures to spend on a dream, when you have champagne tastes on a beer budget, you must identify opportunities that those unaware or fail to grasp such breeding trends regularly overlook.
It’s easy to buy the best-looking yearling by a champion sire from a champion mare – that’s not rocket science, that’s more ego and bravado because we promise one aspect is certain – racehorses do not know how much you pay for them!
This is where the art of understanding genetic balance, along with horse husbandry, and most importantly, having an “eye” to how these equine babies are likely to continue to grow out and develop.
Vital data that must be analysed includes the racetrack success of the sireline’s progeny established when mating over the broodmare sireline’s progeny.
It’s not coincidental that certain sires are champions at producing racetrack results, but what is often taken for granted or misunderstood, is the impact that the broodmare sire certainly plays in the development of potential high class racing stock.
Data can’t predict the future, what it does is establish the past. So, we must learn from historical success and avoid historical failures.
Dynamic Syndications have only limited shares remaining in 4 yearlings we purchased in 2021.
Our other 17 yearling purchases are already SOLD OUT.
What this article wishes to highlight is the importance of the high quality of the genetic crosses of these yearlings, so to assist our owners in the understanding why we purchased these yearlings over thousands of others on offer at the time.
As the 2021 Racing Season draws to a conclusion on 31 July, now is a good opportunity to look at our yearlings from a genetic perspective.
Specifically, we will highlight the established link of the broodmare sire of each yearling.
Below is a table of the Australian Top 12 Broodmare Sires by Earnings and Winners
FACTS & FIGURES of 4 Current DYNAMIC YEARLINGS

We have a fantastic FILLY by Champion Racehorse and Champion Young Sire PIERRO (by Lonhro) who simply cannot do anymore with his progeny than what he is achieving to date, and the success will certainly continue.
Our FILLY is from a FLYING SPUR Mare.
Genetically this is proving extremely successful: 15 Runners / 12 Winners (75%) / 2 Stakes Winners
Note: Sensational racehorse PIERATA $5,802,940 is bred on this identical cross
FLYING SPUR on the BROODMARE SIRES Premiership is:

COLT: SAVABEEL x PASION CHEVAL (by Fastnet Rock)
– STALLION PROSPECT
We have available a COLT by Champion Sire SAVABEEL who is about to be Crowned Champion NZ Sire for the seventh (7th) straight season.
Our Colt is from a FASTNET ROCK Broodmare.
Genetically this is proving an awesome cross: 6 Runners / 5 Winners / 1 Placed / 2 Stakes Winners
FASTNET ROCK on the BROODMARE Sire Premiership is:

COLT: AMERICAN PHAROAH (USA) x LISSON GROVE (by Dehere)
– STALLION PROSPECT
We have available a COLT by World Champion Racehorse and Champion Young Sire in the USA - AMERICAN PHAROAH. This 2-time Gr.1 winning Champion 2YO & 6-time Gr.1 winning Champion 3YO was the first horse in 37 years to win the USA’s three major 3yo Gr1 Triple Crown Races – Kentucky Derby (2000m), Preakness (1900m), Belmont Stakes (2400m). Since 1950 only five (5) horses have achieved this feat: Secretariat (1973), Seattle Slew (1977), Affirmed (1978), American Pharoah (2015) and Justify (2018).
AMERICAN PHAROAH was the HIGHEST RATED Horse in the WORLD in 2015! Also awarded 2014 Eclipse Champion Juvenile & 2015 Horse Of The Year. AMERICAN PHAROAH is the Highest Timeform rated horse at stud in Australia - rated 138. He won 9 races and almost $9,000,000 including the Breeders Cup Classic-Gr.1, Kentucky Derby-Gr.1, Preakness S.-Gr.1, Belmont S.-Gr.1, Haskell Invitational-Gr.1, Arkansas Derby-Gr.1, Del Mar Futurity-Gr.1 & Front Runner S.-Gr.1.
The sire’s progeny in the USA are at their best between 1600m to 2400m as 3yo and 4yo types and this is expected of his progeny here in Australia. His first crop in Australia are 2yo’s and with the number of high-quality mares he has covered in his first crops at Coolmore, and with the weight of numbers coming through, he shall be the sire you expect to excel next season.
Genetically this is Cross is proven already!
On the Exact cross - there has been 1 Runner - 1 Stakes Winner!
AS TIME GOES BY (USA) 2017 f, (by American Pharoah - Take Charge Lady, by Dehere)
Winner of the Gr.2 Santa Margarita Stakes & the Gr.2 Santa Maria Stakes, 2nd in the Gr.1 Beholder Mile Stakes
On the Extended Cross: PIONEEROF THE NILE x DEPUTY MINISTER
61 Runners : 38 Winners (62.3%) : 3 Stakes Winners : 3 Stakes Placed
DEHERE on the BROODMARE SIRES Premiership is:
Earnings:
33. Dehere (by Deputy Minister) 170 66 (4) 114 (5) 38.8% $5,199,520
Winners:
37. Dehere (by Deputy Minister) 170 66 (4) 114 (5) 38.8% $5,199,520
Its important to note that DEHERE in Australia does not have the same numbers of mares at stud as many other sires, so it’s important to look at the strike rate percentages. Most importantly, the cross has produced one runner - a dual Gr2 Winner / Gr1 placed, and OUR COLT is the only colt by AMERICAN PHAROAH from a Dehere mare in the Southern Hemisphere.
So, OUR COLT is: (1) by a World Champion racehorse (2) by a Champion Young Sire in the USA (3) from a Leading Broodmare Sire and (4) the cross is striking at 100% success, (5) Our Colt is the only colt bred on this cross in the Southern Hemisphere, (6) Our Colt is from a Stakes Winning mare (7) GAI and ADRIAN will train Our Colt. They have quite a few by this Sire in their yard and they are overjoyed in what they are showing to date.
COLT: MERCHANT NAVY x PARFAITS (by Strategic)
– STALLION PROSPECT
We have on offer an incredible COLT – He’s a Half-Brother to Gr1 Queensland Derby Winner SONNTAG. He’s by Sensational Australian 3yo MERCHANT NAVY - a son of Champion Sire FASTNET ROCK. MERCHANT NAVY was trained by Ciaron Maher to be a Gr1 Winner of the Coolmore Stud Stakes as a 3yo at FLEMINGTON and then went to ROYAL ASCOT and was a 3yo Gr1 Winner of the Diamond Jubilee.
The sire’s progeny are expected to be sprinter-milers but more likely to be 3yo prospects.
His first crop are just yearlings in Australia and with the high number of high-quality mares he has covered in his first crops at Coolmore and with the numbers coming through, he shall be an exciting sire over the coming seasons. Add in the fact he was Australia’s Leading First Crop Sire by Averages at the 2021 Yearling Sales.
MERCHANT NAVY being a son of FASTNET ROCK (by Danehill), mares need to be free of Danehill blood to mate successfully.
OUR COLT is from the Highly Successful broodmare PARFAITS - from a family that was developed by the Inghams when they owned their Woodlands Stud.
PARFAITS has already produced the Gr1 Queensland Derby Winner – SONNTAG and our colt is by a more speed influence sire.
PARFAITS is a half-sister to Gr1 Winner FLAVOUR. She is a daughter of STRATEGIC out of the multiple Stakes Winner ICE CREAM SUNDAE.
FACT: OUR COLT is one of only 4 yearlings by MERCHANT NAVY who are siblings to Gr1 Winners. 2 are Colts and 2 Fillies.
STRATEGIC on the BROODMARE SIRE Premiership is:
Earnings:
39. Strategic (by Zeditave) 156 65 (3) 102 (4) 41.7% $3,750,594
Winners:
47. Strategic (by Zeditave) 156 65 (3) 102 (4) 41.7% $3,750,594
Again, with restricted numbers we must look at the percentage strike rate which is 41.7% this is remarkably high for an older broodmare sire.
The exact cross has produced 2 Stakes Winners to date, whilst the extended cross has produced 24 Stakes Winners.
OUR COLT is: (1) by a sensational racehorse MERCHANT NAVY who won a Gr1 in both hemispheres as a 3yo (2) by Fastnet Rock - a champion Australian Sire, (3) is a half-brother to a Gr1 Derby Winner, (4) bred on a highly successful cross (5) he is one of only two Colts by the sire to be a sibling to a Gr1 Winner (6) from a highly commercial Female Family (7) to be at his best as a 3yo prospect to aim at the Blue Ribband races like Guineas (1600m) and may well be able to stretch out to a Derby trip, and (8) Our Colt is being trained by CIARON MAHER who polished MERCHANT NAVY into a sensational racehorse - so it is only right that he should train such a brilliantly bred son by the sire.
As the saying goes: Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics:
You would have noticed themes with the data above including the amount of Due Diligence research Dynamic Syndications do in our selection process. Our selections are foremost based upon genetic crosses, well before consideration is given to the commerciality of the pedigree. Only once these two key performance indicators match our stringent requirements will we physically inspect the yearling at the sales.
Its no coincidence, nor is it luck, that since the year 2005, from 306 Individual Runners, Dynamic Syndications have seen 257 Individual Winners which is an incredibly high Australian Market Leading Strike Rate of 84.2% Winners : Runners.
Plus we have a further 31 Individual Placegetters equalling 96.0% Placegetters : Runners.
Whilst there are a further 11 Individual Prizemoney Earners (4ths / 5ths). That’s 299 of our 306 runners have earned prizemoney for their Dynamic owners equalling 97.7%.
Further, at the time of writing this article, DYNAMIC SYNDICATIONS have just recorded our BEST RACING SEASON by Winners in our 16 Seasons of operation having Won 69 Races which betters our previous 68 Wins in 2009/10.
We identify:
1. genetically the crosses have been proven, so there is a higher propensity for this cross to repeat at a high level of success.
2. each yearling is by a Champion Sire either as a Racehorse or as a Sire or both.
3. each has a commercial black type pedigree to support its genetics
4. each must be a magnificent looking yearling that our vet passed as clean and correct including x-rays and endoscopic report.
5. each yearling we purchase must have size, strength, good bone and athleticism.
6. each horse must be able to be purchased within our strict market valuation.
It’s Our Due Diligence which is Your Quality Assurance.
We are aware that approximately 76% of stakes winners comes from genetics that involves just 20% of the foal crop.
So where would you rather shop?
In the 20% of yearlings bred to produce 76% Stakes Winners?
Or
The 80% of the crop that doesn’t represent the acceptable risks – v – returns indicators that produces 24% of the stakes winners?
Having done our Due Diligence in the selection of quality yearlings, we then employ the best Trainers, Best Educator and Best Agistment properties to care for our horses, so our Dynamic Owners maintain the best opportunities to achieve racetrack success. With the record prizemoney on offer, it can be a very lucrative investment, along with a brilliant lifestyle opportunity offering fun, glamour and excitement at affordable entry level investments.
