On Friday and Saturday, it was a big 24 hours for Redoute's Choice broodmare daughter BANKSIA as both her sons won.

BANKSIA by Redoute's Choice - Dam of 3 to race = 3 winners inc 2 SW
BANK MAUR (Richard Laming) on Friday evening resumed from a spell and won the feature 1400m Apache Cat Classic at Cranbourne banking a further $55,000.

BANK MAUR has advanced his career record to: 28 = 4:3:3 & Prizemoney: $879,525
NAMESAKE (Ciaron Maher) on Saturday won Race 10 over 1200m at the Mornington Stand Alone feature meeting banking another $71,500.

NAMESAKE has now advanced his career resume to: 17= 4:1:2 & Prizemoney $347,250.
Saturday’s win was his 5th race start for his current racing preparation which has produced 2 wins (1200m), a third and a fourth so far and banked $105,900.
At the Magic Millions Yearling Sale in 2025 Dynamic Syndications identified a must buy colt that we thought was simply stunning.

Our Colt
Offered as Lot 194 by Leading Australian Nursery ARROWFIELD STUD, the Chestnut Colt was by Champion Japanese 2yo ADMIRE MARS ex BANKSIA by Australia’s Champion Broodmare sire REDOUTE’S CHOICE.

Since then, ADMIRE MARS is going from strength to strength as a sire in Japan, with his first crop now 3yo’s and 2yo’s in Australia. ADMIRE MARS has sired 21 Winners, 10 placegetters including 2 Stakes Winners with last weekends Gr1 Classic Winner - Embroidery winning the Japanese 1000 Guineas.

ADMIRE MARS - Undefeated Champion 2yo & Co-Champion 3yo
Such is his success in Japan, that his Japanese owners decided he will not be returning as a shuttle sire to Australia in 2025.

BANKSIA - Dam of our colt
The Colt we purchased is BANKSIA’S fourth foal.
He is a Half-Brother to 3 named foals; all winners including two (2) Stakes Winners:

5yo BANK MAUR (Maurice);

4yo NAMESAKE (Maurice)
3yo Bank Book (Written Tycoon).

OUR COLT
We identified him as a colt to inspect based upon his incredible genetic mating success.
ADMIRE MARS is the best son of his own champion sire DAIWA MAJOR – a son of champion SUNDAY SILENCE.
When DAIWA MAJOR is mated over mares by Danehill and his sons, the cross is A+++, it has produced 6 Stakes Winners including 3 Gr1 Winners: ASCOLI PICENO, DOUBLE MAJOR; RESISTENCIA.
In Australia, when we look at SUNDAY SILENCE over Redoute’s Choice broodmares it’s a Rating Score of A 423%. It has also produced 6 Stakes Winners here including Gr1 Winner PROFONDO, Gr2 Winners COUNT DE RUPEE, LANTERN WAY, Gr3 Winner LUNAR IMPACT and LR Winners AS TIME GOES BY and KATSU.
We couldn’t fault the colt as a type when we saw him and gave him one of the highest ratings we have ever given any yearling.
Whilst our vet Dr Tim Roberts had vetted both stakes winners in previous years and agreed that this Admire Mars Colt is the best of the three he has seen from the mare.
Whilst both BANK MAUR and NAMESAKE were already Stakes Winners, and Bank Book is a winner, all three were in the spelling paddock at that time.
Records now show that Bank Book is back in work ahead of the Brisbane Winter Carnival, whilst the stakes winners are in full racing trim.
PEDIGREE EVALUATION

ADMIRE MARS is a SON of DAIWA MAJOR
who is a SON of SUNDAY SILENCE who is a SON of HALO
BANKSIA is a DAUGHTER of REDOUTE’S CHOICE
who is a SON of DANEHILL who is a SON of DANZIG
As ADMIRE MARS is a Young Sire with his Australian progeny only 2yo’s therefore his progeny hasn’t had the opportunities on the track.
Therefore, when analysing data, we look at the Sire of Admire Mars who is Champion Sire DAIWA MAJOR. As he is a Japanese based sire, he hasn’t had many opportunities outside of Japan and those that have raced outside of Japan have been based in Europe and the USA.

DAIWA MAJOR - Sire of ADMIRE MARS
Japan hasn’t had a lot of exposure to Danehill blood, however when his daughters have been mated with the Danzig / Danehill line mares, they have achieved tremendous results.
Fortunately, DAIWA MAJOR is a SON of the prepotent sire SUNDAY SILENCE who was a stallion or elite influence around the World and in particular his influence in Australia has been significant.
SUNDAY SILENCE has been exceptionally successful with DANEHILL producing 20 Stakes Winners whilst a further 47 Stakes Winners have been produced by either SONS or GRANDSONS of SUNDAY SILENCE over DANEHILL or DANEHILL’S SONS and GRANDSONS being the sire of the broodmare.
Therefore, from a genetics position, SONS and GRANDSONS of SUNDAY SILENCE have been a A+++ Success with the DANEHILL Line.
In following that data, it would be expected that ADMIRE MARS as a SON of a Champion Sire DAIWA MAJOR who has from limited opportunities Sired 6 SW with three being Gr1 Winners from this line and with ADMRIE MARS being a GRANDSON of SUNDAY SILENCE it will be a cross that will work at a higher propensity to produce Stakes Winners than when compared with every other sireline in the thoroughbred world.
This was obviously in the minds of the Team at ARROWFIELD STUD when they selected ADMIRE MARS to complement their many DANEHILL line mares they own.
As ADMIRE MARS has no DANEHILL line blood in his pedigree, he can cover all DANEHILL line mares. This is referred to as an Outcross and is desirable to strengthen the gene pools.
Whilst we have covered off on why ADMIRE MARS will work in Australia and why he will work well with the DANEHILL Line, we next drill down into his champion Sire and Broodmare Sire SON - REDOUTE’S CHOICE.

REDOUTE'S CHOICE
BANKSIA is a daughter of REDOUTE’S CHOICE from a deep and saturated black-type family.
BANKSIA is actually a three-quarter sister to

Gr1 Winner FOXWEDGE;

Listed Winner SHE’S A FOX;
and Gr2 placed PAULOWINA - Dam of SW LILAC

Lilac
Each of these 3 stakes horses are by FASTNET ROCK who is a SON of DANEHILL - just as is REDOUTE’S CHOICE.
It’s no surprise that this mare has been an instant success as a Broodmare, when mated with another Japanese sire that Arrowfield stand as a shuttle sire - MAURICE who is also free of Danehill Blood.
As mentioned earlier, the first two foals from BANKSIA were by MAURICE and produced a Gr2 Winner and Gr1 performer BANK MAUR who is trained by Richard Laming along with Listed Winner and Gr2 placed NAMESAKE who is trained by CIARON MAHER.
Whilst the third foal from the mare by Written Tycoon is BANK BOOK who is a winner at an unsuitably short 1000m and looks on form, to be city class and who will get out a bit further in ground.
BANKSIA appears to be heading in the right direction to become one of those elite and rare “Blue Hen” mares. Rare in their ability to be able to uplift progeny of any sire. The “Blue Hen” is a mare who has proved herself exceptional in producing high quality foals, regardless of which stallion might be the sire.
These bloodlines on paper were the ultimate reason we initially targeted the ADMIRE MARS x BANKSIA Colt to inspect.
The Sire was a Champion 2YO & Co-Champion 3YO
The Sire is a SON of a CHAMPION SIRE and the GRANDSON of a world Class CHAMPION SIRE
The Sireline matched well with DANEHILL Line blood.
The DAM is a daughter of Champion Sire REDOUTE’S CHOICE – a SON of DANEHILL
The DAM is a three-quarter Sister to Gr1 winner and Successful Sire FOXWEDGE
The DAM is a three-quarter Sister to SW SHE’S A FOX and SP PAULOWINA
COLTS only bred where SUNDAY SILENCE is the 3rd Generation on the Sireline and DANEHILL is 3rd Generation Broodmare Sireline = 179 Winners (62.6%) 20 Stakes Horses; 11 SW and 9 SP.
COLTS only bred where SUNDAY SILENCE is the 3rd Generation on the Sireline and REDOUTE’S CHOICE is 2nd Generation Broodmare Sireline = 22 Winners (64.7%) 6 Stakes Horses; 3 SW and 3 SP.
There has not been a runner by DAIWA MAJOR from a REDOUTE’S CHOICE Mare to date.
Where DAIWA MAJOR as the 2nd Generation on the Sireline and DANEHILL as the 3rd Generation on the Broodmare Sireline there has only been 5 replications to date for 2 winners.
