Brilliant YAO DASH records 600th Dynamic Win as he Smashes Record with Debut Victory

Wow Wee - What a Win and What a way to bring up our 600th Race Win !

Dynamic Syndications debutant YAO DASH (3g Smart Missile x Rahy Storm) destroys quality opposition at Canterbury on Wednesday 21/8 when claiming Race 1 on the programme the Headwater @ Vinery Handicap 1200m Maiden for 3YO Colts & Geldings.

Having first use of the Good 3 surface, YAO DASH posted a 3.5 length victory over $1m colt Petronius with a head back to Colada (Brazen Beau) in third and Godolphin’s Jetski, (a full brother Gr1 winner Trekking) finished a further 1.2 lengths away in fourth spot.

YAO DASH was sent out a $2 Favourite and ran a Class Record time of 1:09.48 sizzling home his last 600m in 33.79 seconds under hands and heels for jet pilot Nash Rawiller.

That took a massive 0.55 secs off the previous Class Record was 1:10.03 set back in 2014.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained YAO DASH had always given the indication that he may measure up into something special but on his early sessions in training as a colt, he was a genuine “naughty boy” to be around. His alpha male behaviour started to become dangerous for him as a horse and for ground staff and he wouldn’t concentrate, wanting to take control of the riders rather than the other way around. So it was an easy decision to rectify his manhood, to allow him to concentrate and this has made all the difference.

Trainer and track riders, strappers and jockey’s alike, kept excitedly telling us that the horse has a truck load of ability and now he was a gelding, it could be harvested.

At his first ever barrier trial on the 12th July he accounted for Time To Reign on a Heavy track.

Then at his second trial, he was allowed to get back in the field and run on over 1050m also on a Heavy track, when spotting Athiri 4 lengths at the 200m and running it to 0.5 length on the line.

So we have no doubt that should it ever decide to rain in Sydney, he will handle wet tracks with aplomb.

However, we also believed off his trackwork, that he prefers to be on top of the ground and on a pristine carpet of grass delivered by the ATC ground staff at Canterbury, he certainly had that made to order.

Also we are conscious of the fact that the way he works and the way he is bred that 1400m and 1600m will be far better distances for him.

However despite believing we had a racehorse to be excited about, nobody truly knows until you place them under competition because after all – racing is a sport.

We came – We saw – We conquered.

There was a strong westerly wind blowing at Canterbury which horses were running into the teeth of down the back straight and pushed them home in the straight.

Our speed maps had stablemate Hemingfield leading the fence with the $1m colt Petronius sitting second and Yao Dash box seating with cover.

However as they jumped, YAO DASH showed good gate speed and went forward to sit alongside Hemingfield with Petronius slotting in, getting cover in behind us. The field stayed in this pattern until straightening where at the 300m YAO DASH went to eye-ball Hemingfield with Petronius pushing up on our outside to challenge.

Nash pushed YAO DASH and he went to a half-length lead and then Nash let the brakes-off and YAO DASH left them standing with sheer brilliant acceleration.

Incredibly YAO DASH started swishing his tail and Nash put the whip away and rode hands and heels over the final 200m but the tail kept swishing and the gap kept widening.

This was an awesome display from an inexperienced horse. His first competition on top of the ground and his first attempt to be competitive and he blew away his peers.

All you can do is win. He’s a special colt in the making but has to keep taking the necessary improvements.

Racing these types of horses, we just take it one day at a time. He’s a gelding so we have no need to reach for the stars, simply little fish are sweet.

However if the opportunity presents to aim a little higher it will always be considered.

TV Presenter Richard Haynes said: “A bit of swishing of the tail but he had a bit on those Yao Dash – a lovely, lovely debut.
“A Dynamic Syndications 3yo, I saw Dean and Adam here with a big group of owners, they were the first ones in the yard and they were a bit nervous. I think they thought they had a smart one on their hands but they just wanted to come and see him do it and he did it in great style.
“But Yao Dash, you can’t do too much more than that!”

Brad Davidson TV Presenter said: “Well wow wee, a very impressive debut.”
“We were just saying to ourselves coming to the turn “how well is this favourite going?” but when he really balanced up at the 200m, look at how superior that last 200m was, he really knuckled down there and put them to bed.
“He looks a really promising horse going forward, and looking for a bit further later on as well but gee, they don’t win much more impressively than that here at Canterbury, with his ears pricked – just look at him through the line he was very, very strong.”

Richard Haynes interviewed co-trainer Adrian Bott: “That was Dynamic Syndications 600th Winner in those colours, Adrian Bott joins us, that’s quite a milestone for a team that put a lot of people into racing.”

Adrian Bott: “That’s a fantastic achievement, Dean and Adam have been in the game for a long time and they obviously have got a hugely successful business and I’m glad to play a part of that, it’s a big achievement certainly.”
“Yao Dash is a nice, raw individual and there is plenty of improvement off today. Obviously that’s quite an impressive performance today, I think there’s a lot of scope to go on and improve, particularly as we can stretch up in trip, but I am most impressed with how well he did today. He relaxed nicely when Nash needed him too and obviously he showed a brilliant turn of foot.”

Richard Haynes: “It’s one thing to trial really well on those heavy tracks, you come to a good surface and think, I hope they can replicate it and he’s really done that.”

Adrian: “Look we were confident with the conditions today, obviously he’s shown us plenty at home, but it’s one thing from taking the form from the trials to the races but he’s done that well.”

Jockey Nash Rawiller said: “Yeah he’s a lovely horse. When I first came back to riding up here in Sydney, I worked with him a couple of times and he showed me he had a few glimpses of something special actually. So it was just how soon he was going to put it all together.

He’s had the two trials and learned a bit from each of them and today, he was very professional. It was a masterclass taking him to 1200m because it gave him a chance to get into a nice rhythm and he was very strong at the end of it.”

“This is the beauty of racing. You try and aim for the sky and see where you land but he’s a lovely horse and he’s well worth following through his career because he’s going to give everyone a lot of fun!”
