Team Dynamic attended the Inglis Classic in 2025 with just an inquisitive mindset, not with any great intent to add to our already wonderful start to the yearling sale season which we achieved at the Magic Millions.

History has taught us that whilst there are some nice racehorses that do come from this Classic sale, traditionally there is better buying on quality, type and price from the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale. For example, this is where we purchased I AM ME and REWARD FOR EFFORT.

So, we would be happy if we didn’t purchase anything at the Inglis Classic, knowing that the Melbourne Premier is to come and then, the pinnacle is Inglis Easter where we believe in 2025, we will be able to source the highest quality yearlings at far more affordable pricing.

So, if we were to buy anything at the Inglis Classic, then:

The Arrowfield mantra for this sale is -

So, if we were to buy anything at the Inglis Classic, it should come from the Arrowfield draft and:

(a) It must be able to add upon the high-quality standards we set at the Gold Coast,
(b) It must be by a successful sire,
(c) it must be a terrific type,
(d) it must come from their leading thoroughbred nursery
(e) it must have commercial appeal
(f) it must be a minimum of A an above genetic rating score with a minimum Quality factor of 7,
(g) it must represent outstanding value for money, preferably around Service Fee,
(h) it must pass veterinary inspections and be low risk (clean) on X-Ray and have a low-risk endoscopic evaluation.

Only if we can achieve a tick on each of these criteria would we consider looking at any lot.

We have walked away from the 2025 Inglis Classic with just one (1) joining our team and we are delighted with what we have achieved over the inspection days and days of the sale.

Dynamic Syndications purchased Lot 541 a Bay Filly by successful young sire THE AUTUMN SUN from PRINCESS MARS – an unraced daughter of DUNDEEL.

Arrowfield’s Bloodstock Manager Jon Freyer went on record to declare from their draft of 40 yearlings catalogued, the Top 6 Lots he picked out to kick off Inglis Classic buyers’ short-lists.

One of these was Lot 541 – The Autumn Sun-Princess Mars filly

“The Autumn Sun fillies have taken all before them and this filly is the right type. Good deep shoulder and walk. Her dam is a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner and Classic Sale graduate Contentment.”

DYNAMIC SYNDICATIONS purchased this filly.

Why this filly?

Firstly, and with incredible importance, Arrowfield breed winners. Their horse husbandry and management offer the best start to life for any young thoroughbred.

Next, we know the incredible success that their sire THE AUTUMN SUN has achieved already with his progeny and based upon the quality of mares he has been covering, the future looks assured.

He was a champion racehorse by REDOUTE’S CHOICE - a champion sire who produced a dynasty of sire sons.

In fact, THE AUTUMN SUN was the Best Son of his champion sire.

The filly we purchased is from the mare PRINCESS MARS - A daughter of another of their resident champions - DUNDEEL.

Whilst she was unraced, she brings wonderful genetics and commerciality to the mating.

Dynamic Syndications have a close working association with the Team at Arrowfield.

This ensures we get the “Good Oil” when it comes to information flow about history of a horses that presents at a sale.

The ones we buy from their team they will always stay-in and race in co-ownership with us.

We know the ones that they own outright, the ones they are in partnership with other breeders, the foal shares. The ones that must be Sold, the ones that have big reserves, and conversely those that have modest reserves, those that have x-ray concerns, and those that are as clean as a whistle.

We know they breed the best, off the wonderful pastures at their farm in the heart of the Hunter Valley.

We also know that buyers of Arrowfield graduates at the Inglis Classic over the past 5 Classic Sales have had 2-times the chance of landing a Stakes Winner; and 5-times the chance of getting a Gr1 Winner than compared to all other drafts.

Lot 541 was the first lot through on the morning of Day 3 of the sale.

At 10:00am the salering was near deserted, A cannon could have fired and not hit anyone.

The filly went through the ring and left passed-in with a Reserve of $60,000. The reserve price of $60,000 was the conception year service fee.

Owned by Arrowfield Stud and Hermitage Bloodstock in partnership, the filly had to be sold to dissolve the partnership.

The team at Arrowfield were naturally disappointed as they rated the filly highly, as per their Bloodstock Manager - Jon Freyer rating the filly in the Top 6 Lots in their draft.

We buy a lot of yearlings from Arrowfield, and they are very good to us with information and meeting the market. We spoke with them and asked would the Arrowfield side of the ownership stay in the filly to race her with us which they were delighted to do.

So, after a little lighted hearted banter and argy-bargy, we settled on a price of $50,000 + GST which was $10,000 less than the reserve. That allowed them to dissolve the partnership with Hermitage and retain equity to race the filly with Team Dynamic.

We signed off with Inglis and arranged the filly to be scoped again, which it passed.

In addition, from meeting our strict criteria, this cross is desirable.

The Autumn Sun > Redoute’s Choice > Danehill crossing over mares by Dundeel > High Chaparral, > Sadler’s Wells works a treat.

It scores an Enick rated A 153% with a Quality Factor rating of Q7 and an Australasian GeoNick rating of A 180%.

There have only been two foals bred on this exact cross to have raced to date THE AUTUMN SUN over a broodmare by DUNDEEL including PLYMOUTH - Winner and Gr2 runner-up.

Due to limited opportunities of THE AUTUMN SUN as a young sire over DUNDEEL - a reasonably young broodmare sire, we go back one generation and look at the success of REDOUTE’S CHOICE over HIGH CHAPARRAL.

This is successful with the exact cross producing 5 Stakes Winners.

Based on the REDOUTE'S CHOICE--HIGH CHAPARRAL this cross is rated an A 180% and has produced 5 stakes winners in Australasia, including:

Whilst the Danehill x High Chaparral has produced 25 SW and the Redoute’s Choice x Sadler’s Wells has produced 44 SW. Therefore, genetically we know the data supports the fact that the cross has a higher propensity to produce a stakes class racehorse.

Next, we know the fact that the filly was sent to sale to dissolve the partnership.

We also know that Arrowfield are at the pinnacle for breeding stakes class horses in our industry.

We know the filly was clean on x-rays and scope, and we know that the filly will always be from a half-sister to a high class Gr1 winner.

We add in that we purchased the filly for incredible value and that the industry’s leading breeder is taking an equity share in the filly to race her with us.

What we also know is that the first foal out of the mare is a full sister to our filly and has been named Sovereignty and is with trainer Paul Messara at Scone. The whispers about that filly were enough to also encourage Arrowfield to maintain an equity position in this younger full-sister.

Our latest acquisition will be heading to the Team at CIARON MAHER Racing who was at the sale and liked what he saw with the filly.

Our filly will be paid-up for the Inglis Race Series which also includes a $100,000 bonus on 50 Maiden Races. She will also be paid up for BOBS and BOBS Extra.

THE AUTUMN SUN was the spectacular star of his generation. The 5-time Gr1 winner at two & three, the best racing colt by Redoute's Choice, and now the sire of first-crop G1 Classic winners Autumn Angel, Coco Sun & Vibrant Sun and Autumn Glow.

At stud, breeders have backed him with almost 700 mares in his first five books. He has wasted no time justifying their belief in him.

The Autumn Sun now has three (3) crops of racing age, with his third crop just current two-year-olds.

His 16 yearlings sold at Inglis Easter in 2024 averaged $246,000, with a top price of $650,000, and 3 of his Arrowfield graduate daughters have sold out of training for 7-figure sums: Autumn Angel ($1.225 million), Autumn Ballet ($1.6 million) & Tutta La Vita ($3.2 million).

The Autumn Sun ended 2023/24 in 2nd spot on Australia’s Second Season Sires’ Premiership and 5th on the 3YO Sires’ table.

The Autumn Sun’s 2024 crop of yearlings saw 25 sell across the Inglis Easter & Magic Millions Gold Coast sales. They averaged 4.1 times his fee, with a top price of $650,000 achieved by Arrowfield’s filly ex Missybeel.

86 yearlings sold from The Autumn Sun’s first two crops have averaged $340,000 at the 2022 & 2023 Inglis Easter & Magic Millions Gold Coast Sales, including the $1.8 million filly ex Via Africa (Group 3 winner Autumn Glow), & the $750,000 filly ex Bagalollies.
