This time it was the turn of talented
3yo colt MARINE ONE who was already a
Gr3 placegetter, who took the giant leap at Caulfield when winning the
Group 2 MRC Rubiton Stakes (1100m) over a select field of sprinters.

Now with
co-trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Marine One had run well in Benchmark 70 sprints at his previous two starts after an unplaced effort in the Group I VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes back in the spring.
With a good barrier and Jamie Kah in the saddle,
Marine One produced a career best performance to run down seasoned campaigner Oxley Road to win by a length and a quarter.

MARINE ONE has become the
Sixth Stakes Winner among 17 Black-Type Horse for sensational young sire
CAPITALIST.
The Golden Slipper Winner and Champion Australian 2yo claiming the Breeders Plate, Magic Millions and Golden Slipper, CAPITALIST has been an instant success in the breeding barn.
CAPITALIST
Last season as FIRST CROP Sire, CAPITALIST claimed the overall title of Champion Sire of 2yo’s in addition to claiming Champion First Season Sire.
Again, at the half-way mark of this season, he is
both Leading Second Crop Sire by Earnings and by Winners.
His instant success saw his service fee jump from
$55,000 to $99,000 last season.
However, what is most vital to understand about his progeny to date is
CAPITALIST has established a proven nick with daughters who are by the sons or grandsons of DANEHILL.
Five (5) of his six (6) Stakes Winners plus four (4) of his eleven (11) Stakes Placegetters are out of daughters by broodmare sires who are either the sons or grandsons of DANEHILL.
That’s 9 of his 17 Black-Type horses (53%) are from mares where Danehill is their sireline on the female paternal line.
Regarding the success of
MARINE ONE, co-trainer David Eustace said,
“He's just gradually progressed. The team have done a great job with him down at the beach, gradually getting everything right and then just being able to stay up for as long as he has.
"He's a colt and requires a bit of work in between as well. He really knows how to race well now. He relaxes early and he's strong late and he showed there again today that the 1200 won't be a problem if we choose to go there.
"He's a son of Capitalist, who is doing a great job at stud, and he is now a Group 2 winner, so he's got a bright future on the track whatever he does, then goes to stud.
"He'll be looking to building on that record, but we'll sit down with the ownership and work out where we go now."
A $500,000 Magic Millions purchase from the
Newgate Farm draft,
Marine One runs for a syndicate that includes his co-breeders China Horse Club and Newgate partners.
He has the overall record of four wins and two placings from 10 starts with prizemoney just shy of $400,000.
Bred by China Horse Club in partnership,
Marine One was foaled and raised at Newgate and is the first winner for stakes winning Snitzel mare Golconda, who was also placed in a Group I VRC Oaks.
This was the second Stakes Winner for CAPITALIST in a week, and the second bred in a similar pattern being out of a Danehill line mare, with
SEBONACK a 2yo colt becoming a Winner on debut at 1000m in the MRC Lamaro's Hotel Chairman's Stks., Gr3.
