Following on from the instant success of his progeny
Tenebrism and Elliptic, boom first season sire CARAVAGGIO (USA) had
another scintillating filly strut her stuff on debut, as
CONTARELLI CHAPEL was
super impressive winning the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden eased down by a widening
5½ lengths at Naas on Monday.
CONTARELLI CHAPEL- Timeform Rated 90
Ryan Moore wore the silks on the
Ballydoyle debutant, co-owned by German born Swiss billionaire Georg von Opel along with the Coolmore partners.
The
Aidan O’Brien-trained daughter of CARAVAGGIO showed a very impressive turn of foot in the final 200m to stamp her authority on the
six-furlong (1200m) contest – and the Ballydoyle trainer was quick to
identify her as a
Royal Ascot type.
Ryan Moore never asked
CONTARELLI CHAPEL for her maximum effort, as she crossed the line
5½ lengths ahead of the second-place runner.
CONTARELLI CHAPEL
This win secured CARAVAGGIO his second TDN Rising Star from his three winners.
CONTARELLI CHAPEL (2f CARAVAGGIO x Chenchikova, by Sadler’s Wells) romped in with the filly showing that 1200m was no problem under Ryan Moore.
Disputing the lead from the start,
CONTARELLI CHAPEL took control after the 300m and was travelling sweetly.
She was joined for a few strides as they passed the final 400m marker, but that was all the challenge she needed, as
CONTARELLI CHAPEL responded brilliantly despite her inexperience, pulling away with ease.

Aidan O’Brien was very impressed with his filly.
O’Brien told Thoroughbred Daily News (TDN),
“She was never let off the bridle at home and we knew that she would be very green when he did drop her, but she was very impressive.
“I would imagine she is an Albany-type filly (Gr3 to be run on June 18). She might come back here (on May 16) before that.”
Paddy Power have installed
CONTARELLI CHAPEL at
6/1 early favourite for the Albany Stakes.
CONTARELLI CHAPEL is bred to be a star, being a half-sister to Group 1 winner
Fancy Blue and stakes-winners
Casterton and
Smugglers Cove. She is the seventh winner from top producer
Chenchikova, herself a full-sister to champion racehorse and sire
High Chaparral.
Australian yearling buyers have been impressed this year with the first and only Australian crop by dual Group 1 winning sprinter
CARAVAGGIO (USA), who unleashed his third winner overnight.
Now standing at Ashford Stud for Coolmore in North America, CARAVAGGIO is off to a flying start at stud with his three winners - two better than any other American freshman sire.
TENEBRISM - Timeform Rated 92+
ELLIPTIC - Timeform Rated 84p
The stallion was moved by Coolmore from
Ireland to their US based
Ashford Farm, where he stands for USD $25,000.
CARAVAGGIO was shuttled to
Coolmore Australia for just one season before the breeding powerhouse considered the
“Ballydoyle Bullet” was
“too important” to risk shuttling, and considering he was bred in the USA and being the
fastest son of champion USA sire SCAT DADDY who has subsequently died, it was a business decision to have
CARAVAGGIO (USA) base himself in
Kentucky where he nicks so well with so many US pedigrees.
All three of CARAVAGGIO’s 2yo winners are now eyeing starts at Royal Ascot in June.
Nicknamed the “Ballydoyle Bullet” in his racing days due to his sizzling speed, it’s now obvious he can throw this acceleration into his progeny.
From his one Australian crop, CARAVAGGIO had 47 yearlings sell across all Australian sales this year for an average $88,159 including 13 yearlings that sold at Magic Millions at an average $105,769.
Dynamic Syndications are delighted with the CARAVAGGIO colt we purchased at the Magic Millions.
Purchased with the specific aim of the
Magic Millions 2yo race in mind, he has been
broken-in by SHANE ROSE who was in raptures about our colt’s natural ability.
Bred on a super cross for the sire, our Colt is from MALIBU ROAD (by Malibu Moon).
Bred on the SCAT DADDY x A.P. INDY Cross
The 1 x 1 SCAT DADDY over A.P. INDY line Mares =
8 Stakes Winners (6 colts – 2 fillies) & 7 Stakes Placed (4 colts – 3 fillies)
This is a highly successful CROSS especially for COLTS:
COLTS to date:
46 Runners / 32 Winners (70%) / 10 Stakes Horses (32%)
6 STAKES WINNERS (19% SW:W) / 4 STAKES PLACED (13% SP:W)
Earnings $2.4m USD / Ave Win Distance 6.68 Furlongs = 1340m
Dynamic Syndications believe the deeds on the racetrack that Caravaggio produced during his own brilliant race career and being the fastest son of a world class sire in Scat Daddy, has the right profile to be very effective in Australia.
We researched all the pedigrees of the mares that produced foals in Australia and settled upon one that ticked all our boxes with size, conformation, veterinary acceptance, genetic balance and boasted a highly commercial pedigree page.
Offered at the MAGIC MILLIONS by COOLMORE STUD we made him our target and purchased him.
He was LOT 514, a masculine colt
This is the “Best of the Best” of American genetics which works on turf and is capable of success in the Southern Hemisphere.
Just like Dynamic Syndications Gr3 winner LOVE TAP, this horse profiles in a very similar way.

IN REVIEW:
The colt we purchased has ticked all the boxes to give him the maximum opportunity of racetrack success in Australia.
The Sire can’t do any more – a brilliant type himself with speed to burn and a super race record.
His progeny have hit the ground running – just like he did!
His Dam has produced 100% winners to runners including INDEPENDENT ROAD – a dual stakes performer and winner of his last two in a row in Melbourne.
But Wait ….. There’s More!
Whilst you may have heard that line before, this colt HAS broken-in sensationally.
Our horse educator SHANE ROSE proprietor of Bimbadeen Park and Australian Equestrian Olympic Team member was full of praise about how the colt broke in and moves.

It’s near impossible for any stallion to have a better strike rate on a cross than what this cross is producing.
