COOLMORE STUD announce JUSTIFY will stand in Australia for $77,000 in 2023
COOLMORE STUD announce JUSTIFY will stand in Australia for $77,000 in 2023

It was
announced last week by Coolmore Stud
that
JUSTIFY
will
return to Australia
for the
2023 season
and today it was confirmed he will stand for
$77,000
including GST
in the Hunter Valley this season.
JUSTIFY - He was happy to here he is coming back to Australia in 2023.
It’s a backflip for Coolmore Stud, who chose not to shuttle him to Australia last season, sighting that he was
“considered too valuable”
in the Northern Hemisphere off the success of his first crop there to be risked shuttling back to Australia.
JUSTIFY at Stud
Justify
stood his first season in
2019
at Coolmore at a fee listed as
Private
(
$77,000
), his
2020
second season at
$66,000
and his
2021
third season at
$55,000
. He didn’t travel here last season and jumps back up to
$77,000
for 2023.
Thoughts quickly changed about
JUSTIFY
returning when the sire proved himself as the
Best
First Crop Sire in Australia this season.
Australia’s current leading first crop sire by
Earnings
and
Winners:Runners
Strike Rate
produced his
fourth winner
from only
ten starters
with a smart debut victory from the
Ciaron Maher & David Eustace
-trained Scentify
at Warrnambool on Wednesday.
In addition, he has sired
another two Saturday metropolitan runner’s-up,
plus a provincial
runner-up.
He also has an unplaced runner who was
fourth
at Warwick Farm. That’s
8
of his
10
starters have weighted-in.
His two who haven’t yet troubled the record keeper, both have started once when unplaced in
Stakes Races.
Whilst
6
of his
10
runners
to date have competed in
black-type races.
Unlike some of the high-profile peer group sires with big foal crops.
JUSTIFY only had
96
live foals
from his
first crop
and so far, only
10
have graced the racetrack.
So, there are will be
a flood of well-bred 2yo’s
to hit the racetrack over the coming months.
Justify’s
exploits this season are highlighted by Annabel Neasham’s
Group 2 winner
Learning To Fly,
one of the most talented 2YOs in the country, as well as Peter Moody’s
unbeaten stakes-winning filly
Legacies
who indicated Group 1 ability when winning the Anzac Day Stakes by almost
5 lengths.
Coolmore Australia’s Colm Santry
stated that:
“due to popular demand we look forward to welcoming Justify back to Australia this season at a fee that we believe represents great value for breeders. All the leading breeders throughout the country want to use him and he will cover a select book of mares. He currently sits on top of the first season sires table by a significant margin and he looks set to be the first shuttle stallion to be crowned Champion First Crop Sire, since More Than Ready (2004-2005 in 19 years).”
Santry continued,
“High-class, Danehill-free stallions are few and far between in Australia and it is particularly encouraging that Justify has already proven to be extremely effective with Danehill blood. The indication from trainers is that everything that they are doing as 2YOs is a bonus, so we expect that this is only the tip of the iceberg for him which is very exciting.”
Breeders that use
Justify
this season look set to capitalise on the unbelievable quality of mares that he has covered.
Santry observed,
“His second crop yearlings sold for $1,400,000, $750,000, $700,000, $700,000 etc. and they were out of Sunlight, Invincibella, Nakeeta Jane and Champagne Cuddles, so there is no shortage of quality stock coming through.”
