The open 2yo event at Randwick on Saturday provided a terrific quinella for
Champion First Season Sire elect PRIDE OF DUBAI when Achiever beat home another Pride of Dubai colt name Street Dancer.
Achiever was 3rd to highly rated colt Peltzer at his previous run on May 23 and highlighted the strength of that form with this dominant display.
He settled near the rear for Brenton Avdulla and bounded away down the outside to win the 1400m contest by 3¼ lengths.
Never further back than fourth in four previous starts, Achiever was overdue to break the ice and has now won over $90,000 in prizemoney.
"He will be the type we can aim at a race like the Spring Champion Stakes in the spring," Waller said in his post-race.
"He was on our JJ Atkins team until he ran third last start and just missed the cut.
"He has always shown us ability which is why we still have him up and going."
An $80,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the Erinvale Thoroughbreds draft, Achiever is a half-brother to Group 3 winner Decircles and three other stakes horses being from the family of champions Elvstroem, Haradasun and Highland Reel.
Achiever is the
ninth winner for PRIDE OF DUBAI, who stands at
Coolmore Stud this spring at a fee of $38,500.
