DECROUX - DEAMER - RAWILLER Deliver DYNAMIC First City Winner for New Season

Oh it’s Great to have NASH back !

On Wednesday at Canterbury, the Jason Deamer trained DECROUX (5yo g Lope De Vega x Mimes) gave his peers a galloping lesson based upon key factors of class and thanks to an exceptional ride by the greatly talented Nash Rawiller.

Race 2 was the ANZ Bloodstock News 1900m Benchmark 72 event.

Turned out in magnificent order, DECROUX looked the pick of the yard and raced accordingly.

It proved effortless when jet pilot NASH and DECROUX (59.0kgs) rattled down the outside to score eased down by 2.3 lengths over Toulouse (53.0kgs) with a nose back to Snippetspeed (58.0kgs) in third spot whilst the favourite Seeingisbelieving finished back in fifth.

This recorded Back-to-Back wins for DECROUX / Nash Rawiller combination.

DECROUX has had 18 starts: 4 Wins, 4 Seconds, 1 Third, 2 Fourths & $143,575

Since transferring to Jason Deamer, DECROUX has had 7 starts and earned $78,015 for the preparation.

Nash Rawiller is DYNAMIC

It was Nash’s fourth win since his return from Hong Kong and Dynamic Syndications have supplied three (3) of these wins.

Well what can we say about this horse?

DECROUX arrived at the Jason Deamer stables after three lacklustre efforts at the provincials when the owners made a decision to give Jason a throw at the stumps and take him out bush.

His first run for Jason was where DECROUX finished 14.76 lengths away running 11th of 13 at Newcastle.

DECROUX had always been leading in his races and had learnt to give-up when challenged.

The ownership team were full of despair about what to do and it was decided to give him one more run out at Mudgee over 1400m in a Class 3 and then sell him.

Given a steadier of 63.0kgs by the handicapper, Jason Deamer said he was working like a real good horse so he concluded that he would like to change his racing pattern and get back in the field instead of leading.

We had nothing to lose and we were ready to pop him in the upcoming online auction to be sold.

That day at Mudgee turned everything around.

He got back in the run early and had to make up a lot of ground. He flew home to run second beaten 0.6 lengths and that was the first time the horse had shown a zest for racing in 12 months.

It gave his owners confidence to keep going a little bit longer.

We continued the “get back philosophy” and the horse has turned around his form.

After the Mudgee run, he was pushed back up in class to a 1500m race at Hawkesbury carrying 58.5kgs and again got back before rattling home to run second beaten just 0.6 lengths.

Then he went back to Hawkesbury over 1600m on a Heavy 9 Track and the same thing happened. He got back in the ruck and stormed home for another second beaten 1.3 lengths.

We then chose to jump in the deep end and went to Randwick on a Saturday where he got back in the field and ran on strongly at 1600m to finish 4th on a Heavy track which had now delivered the perfect foundation fitness to go up in trip.

He then contested a Benchmark 70, 2000m race at Kembla which was the first day back riding for Nash Rawiller. Given a terrific run in transit by Nash, the Dynamic Duo got back and ran on superbly to win eased down by 1.3 lengths.

Nash commented that day he thought the horse felt super and would like to stick with him.

So Nash was engaged to ride him at Canterbury over the 1900m.

We would have preferred to stay at 2000m but there wasn’t a suitable race so we dropped back 100m.

In this event, DECROUX was a benchmark 68 horse so was allotted 59.0kgs. When the field came out it was 8 runners and the speed map looked muddling.

DECROUX had drawn well in barrier 1 but since we had taught him to get back, we wanted to keep with that philosophy. We wanted Nash to ride his own race but come out neutral and see how it unfolded.

We have seen some wonderful rides by Nash Rawiller over the years but he was simply a class above in this event, the way he rode.

Nash won the race going past the winning post the first time.

In a race that appeared to lack genuine speed on paper, as the field ran past the first 100m mark they were 4 abreast. Nash dropped anchor and got the best trail, sitting in fifth spot as Snippetspeed and the favourite Seeingisbelieving then started to ease back to get a trail.

Nash saw that unfolding and pushed up a length which stopped Snippetspeed getting across to the fence which caught Seeingisbelieving being posted 3 deep into the first turn as Monasterio pushed forward to lead on the fence and Toulouse pushed up to sit at its girth.

Seeingisbelieving tried to take off in a lightning move at the 1500m to go to the front but Toulouse pushed up to keep it wide and that put more pace into the race as they turned into the back straight.

While this shuffling was happening in front, Nash had DECROUX asleep on the fence, hacking along in a rhythm with Snippetspeed on his outside.

As the field finally started to slow the pace, the rider on Snippetspeed chose to push up and get closer to the leaders. As that unfolded the rider of Hoof Hustler pushed up to keep us tucked away on the fence. All the time Nash was just being patient, letting it all unfold. Then as the field approached the 700m the rider on Hoof Hustler took off 3 deep and Nash simply rolled off the fence.

As the field started to turn into the straight, Nash went for a run around the tiring Monasterio and underneath Hoff Hustler who was deep.

It got very tight on the point of the turn as Monasterio shifted out and at the same point Hoff Hustle shifted in to squeeze DECROUX and Nash was not going to have that and rode aggressively pushing through the gap.

DECROUX is so light on his feet he simply floats along !

As they balanced for the run home Nash gave DECROUX his head and the horse changed gears and quickly started to extend, drawing level with the leaders at the 150m. Nash gave him 2 reminders and it was all over as he bounded away to score.

It was a terrific win and the scenes were fantastic in the Winners stall after the race, as happy owners were back-slapping and taking selfies.

Nash had ridden his 4th winner back and Jason Deamer had just trained his 5th winner from his last 9 starters whilst DECROUX had just posted back-to-back wins.

Sky Channel’s Richard Haynes and Brad Davidson did the post-race interviews.

Firstly, Richard interviewed Jason Deamer:

Richard said: “I suppose in any race momentum is important and keeping them going is a good thing and your bloke was just about the only horse there whose momentum was rolling the whole way and …., away he goes”

Jason responded: “yes Nash rode him perfectly, the race panned out well and it was beautifully set up for us. It was a race to the first corner and Nash just sat back and smoked his pipe and DECROUX relaxed beautifully and it was just a matter of getting onto the back of the right horse when they put on the speed from the 700m so he just peeled out and was very strong at the finish.”

Richard: “We were down there at Kembla Grange the other day and I was standing with you and it was a determined win, so he has come on just that nice little bit.”

Jason: "Yes I think that win gave the horse that bit of confidence too he was just lacking that little bit prior to Kembla but since Kembla he’s bouncing around like he’s King Kong and he’s proved it by running very well again today."

Richard: “He’s a lightly raced 5yo and there’s more to come here.”

Jason: “Yes I hope so, I’ve only had him a short time but he’s been very honest since I've had him and its great to get another win on the board for Dynamic.”

Richard: “Well done – Adam Watt’s here - Any win’s are good, these wins especially, he was good he was tough there again your fella.”

Adam: “Yes he was really tough, it’s just so nice to have Nash home, he’s been a godsend for us since he’s got back but also this horse is going great. Full credit to Jason Deamer, he’s doing a great job with him and taught him to relax and settle and finish his races off. With Jason’s polish and Nash’s vigour we’ve got a winning formula.”

Richard: “Lots of photos and selfies as the owners get together from everywhere and these wins are fun.”

Adam: “They certainly are – he’s been a horse that’s been around for a while and the prizemoney here in NSW is great especially for BOBS Extra horses and that’s why its so much fun to race horses in NSW.”

Richard: “Well Done. Adam and Dean do a great job bring owners into racing which is tremendous and DECROUX does the job really nicely here and it’s also lovely to have Nash back in town doing what he does best and riding those winners all around the place.”

Brad Davidson then interviewed Nash upon returning to scale.

Brad said: “Well Nash it was a race that changed complexion about 6 or 7 different times, but you were always going to be the strongest one the way it played and that’s the way it came out.”

Nash: “Yeah, he’s a horse racing in very good form, I think going to Kembla the other day gave him a fair bit of confidence, he’s raced in better grade and had probably forgotten how to win and I was very happy today with his last 100m. He really came away and put them to the sword, and there is no reason why he won’t keep doing it.”

Brad: “He was a horse earlier in his career that would roll up on speed but Jason has just got him to relax and it’s been a credit to the trainer to get the best out of him.”

Nash: “Yeah he’s got him in great form and as you say, the change in riding tactics has probably given him a new lease on life. He’s learnt to love himself again. I think we‘ll go to the Taree Cup now and I’ll go and ride him after that win today.”

Richard: “Well done to all concerned with DECROUX, he’s become a pretty consistent staying prospect and this might just be that horse whose gradually improving that bit and he’s now a mid-week winner (twice).”

Brad: “He’s doing a good job, he’s been very consistent this preparation and Jason’s doing a great job with him.”

The Win by DECROUX was Dynamic Syndications second win and our first city win for the new 2019-20 racing season which is just 7 days old.

DECROUX also recorded Dynamic Syndications 599th Race Win overall.
