The promise we had always seen in FARNCIFUL was realised at Port Macquarie today, as our three year old filly delivered a performance full of determination, professionalism and upside to break her maiden in Race 1, the Janice Walker Maiden Plate over 1000 metres.

There was a sense of unfinished business about the filly heading into the race. At her previous start she had been a desperately unlucky odds on favourite, caught wide and denied clear running when runner-up, a performance that simply did not reflect her true ability.
Today, with even luck and a more favourable run in transit, she was given the opportunity to show what we knew she was capable of.
As the gates opened, Kissavos was stoked up early but unable to cross, allowing Hell Of A Legacy to lead. FARNCIFUL, from her inside draw, was unable to match the early tempo and Ash Morgan allowed her to find her feet, settling back in the field 6 lengths off the leaders as the speed unfolded in front. Approaching the 650 metres she was travelling comfortably, weaving a passage behind runners as the field began to compress.
Around the home turn, with the race building, Kissavos loomed into contention and FARNCIFUL was angled into the clear. At that point she still had several lengths to make up and for a stride or two the situation looked sticky as the leaders stacked them up.
However, once the gap appeared, the race changed complexion instantly.

As the caller described, “FARNCIFUL finishes powerfully and gets up to win,” and that final surge told the story. Charging down the outside, she lengthened with purpose, reeled in the leaders and asserted her superiority over the final 50 metres to defeat the males who filled second and third. It was a performance backed up on the clock, on a Soft 7 surface stopping it in 0:59.26 with a slick last 600 metres of 35.09.

The Sky Channel team summed it up perfectly, noting she “explodes at the top of the straight” and that “the best bit of her work was late,” highlighting both her acceleration and her strength through the line. Importantly, they also identified the key difference from her previous run, today she enjoyed the right run in transit, allowing her to finish off as she is capable.

Trainer Jason Deamer continues to do an outstanding job with our team of horses, and it was a proud family moment with his father John Deamer strapping the filly on race day.

Speaking post race, John described her perfectly, “she was very good… she’s game and she’s a little spicy for a filly, she’s got a bit of cheek about her,” a comment that captures both her attitude and her will to compete. John added, "Dynamic look after Jason. They give him a lot of support." they have an incredible strike rate with them too. "I think we've only had one, I think, that hasn't won a race."
He also reaffirmed what we all knew, that she had been unlucky at her previous start when caught wide, and with even luck today she was able to turn the tables.

Ash Morgan was equally measured in his assessment, giving a confident and composed ride that allowed the filly to build momentum. Reflecting post race, he was quick to take responsibility for her previous run, noting “I don’t know if I was Arthur or Martha the last time, so can’t blame her,” but made it clear that today the plan was executed perfectly. “They went a good gallop and she got a nice suck run… she was strong enough late to win, which is the way to ride her.” It was a ride full of confidence and understanding, and his judgment to follow the right horse into the race proved decisive. “I was confident following Kissavos… I knew I’d be able to get into the clear… I just liked the way she knuckled down late.”
That toughness and willingness to fight is exactly what we look for, and it was on full display over the concluding stages as she attacked the line with purpose.

A three year old brown filly by Champion First Season Sire Farnan from the Invincible Spirit mare Invincible Diva, FARNCIFUL was secured at the Magic Millions for $100,000 by Dynamic Syndications / Dean Watt Bloodstock. She is a filly bred to be fast and tough, and now with race experience under her belt, she is beginning to deliver on that genetic promise.
With this victory, FARNCIFUL advances her record to three starts for a win and a second, with prizemoney and bonuses now totalling $26,225, including today’s return of $19,575. Importantly, she has now put that maiden behind her and done so in a manner that suggests there is more to come.
