We are delighted to report that one of our most
honest racehorses under management named
DISCOMBE (4yo g Redoute’s Choice x Lovetessa) has broken through for a courageous win on Monday at Muswellbrook. Our
Jason Deamer trained galloper led all the way for in-form Jet Pilot
Samantha Clenton, as the duo claimed Race 2 the TUNE IN TUESDAY 18 FEBRUARY Maiden Plate over 1500m, running 1:28.93 Last 600m: 0:37.93.
Taking full use of an inside barrier, Samantha and our
$1.75 favourite DISCOMBE rolled to the front but then, we were attacked for the lead twice over the first 400m which caused two very quick sectionals to be peeled off, burning a lot of petrol in the process.
Then when the tempo finally subdued,
DISCOMBE had the field spread out over many lengths and as they turned for home, the only danger Brother Bassey, having a 2.5kg pull in the weights, was camped in our slip stream and waiting to pounce.
DISCOMBE slipped a couple of lengths in front, as the balanced up at the 300m and then the pair pulled away from the rest of the field.
It became a two-horse war over the final 200m as
DISCOMBE who was out of petrol and feeling his big weight, but showing true courage, dug deep to fight off
Brother Bassey by 0.41 length on the post with
Total Recall a further 3.45 lengths away in third spot.
DISCOMBE took his career to 9 starts: 1 Win, 3 Seconds, 2 Thirds, 1 Fourth, 1 Fifth.
Jason has done a terrific job this preparation with our horse.
DISCOMBE has now had 4 starts for Jason recording a 2nd, 5th, 2nd and now a Win.
The previous race starts this prep,
DISCOMBE was anchored by big weights against promising lighter weighted horses but in this event, his fitness and class took over to deliver the win.
To put into perspective what a good effort it was and just how fast they went in the early sections of this race, there was a Class 2, 1500m run in the next race and a horse carrying 5.0kgs less ,won in a time of 1:30.36 which was a significant 1.43 secs slower, which is equal to approximately
11 lengths.
DISCOMBE was purchased from Sir Patrick Hogan’s Cambridge Stud (before the stud was sold) and was bought through the NZB Karaka Yearling Sale.
He was named after
DISCOMBE ROAD, which is the road that Cambridge Stud is situated upon.
Congratulations to our Loyal Team of Dynamic Owners who race DISCOMBE upon your well-deserved and what had been unluckily, an overdue success:
