SANTA delivered a wonderful gift for
our Loyal Ownership Team that race
AWESOME LAD (4yo gelding I Am Invincible x Sensible Lady) when our recent acquisition went
back-to-back to score a
tough and courageous Win in Race 7 at Newcastle on
Boxing Day.
Winners keep rolling in for our DYNAMIC SYNDICATIONS, Trainer JASON DEAMER and Jockey CHRISTIAN REITH trinity.
The excellent Newcastle based horseman JASON DEAMER presented AWESOME LAD in 11 out of 10 condition in the pre-race parade which was
matched by our go-to jet pilot CHRISTIAN REITH who put in a
fantastic ride to steer AWESOME LAD to victory in the TAB VENUE MODE CG&E Benchmark 64 Hcp over 1350m.
AWESOME LAD winning at Newcastle 26-12
AWESOME LAD ($6.00) carried a steadying
Top Weight of 61.0kgs in a field of 15 starters and had to show
enormous courage under fire to hold off a 4 kilogram pull for Surjin (57.0) who was the eventual runner-up by 0.22 length, with Bravio (55.5kgs) beaten 0.46 length back in third spot and the $3.20 favourite Macleay (58.5kgs) finishing fourth by 1.22 lengths.
AWESOME LAD ran a Time of 1:21.38 for the 1350m coming home the last 600m: 0:34.16.
AWESOME LAD in full flight
Perfectly placed in the right race, Class was on display by horse, rider and trainer and the result was delivered for our Dynamic Ownership Team.
This was considered the hardest race on the programme by punters, form students and rating experts alike with half a dozen chances in an open contest.
However huge money came late for the John O’Shea trained Duty (57.0kgs) who was backed into second favourite in the betting shortening from
$9.00 to start at $5.50 but it was unable to give a yelp, finishing 9th whilst the favourite Macleay was also heavily backed coming in from
$4.40 to $3.20 to run 4th.
Having drawn well in barrier 3, our race tactic was to be positive and roll forward in a race where we could see a quick tempo being set.
We had hoped that, as our speed map read, we would be able to take up a forward position tracking the leaders one or two pairs back with cover.
Christian had AWESOME LAD ready to fly and as the gates flung back, the horse was fast away, eyeballing the Waterhouse-Bott runner Nelspruit for the first 50m before that runner was urged to take up the lead and from out deep, the eventual third placed Bravio came across to sit at the girth of the leader.
This was ideal for Christian, who allowed it to cross and that
gave AWESOME LAD the gun run, sitting in the
one-one position in fourth spot as the field thundered past the 1000m marker.
As the field swung down the side, passing the 700m, $26 chance BARACUS considered a genuine no-hoper in this field, attempted to push up 3 deep to try and put
AWESOME LAD into a pocket but that move backfired as that runner burst like a balloon and finished last beaten 15.04 lengths.
As the field started making moves as they roared to the point of the home turn, Christian angled out off the heels of Bravio whom he had been tracking in the run and was placed perfectly in the running line, as they straightened for the long run home.
Passing the 400m mark, Bravio gave a kick and had collared Nelspurit who had posted the white flag whilst
AWESOME LAD was feeling the steadier of 61.0kgs and was trying to wind-up to the outside of Bravio.
Passing the 200m
AWESOME LAD was working hard and responding to Christian’s urging to be just over a length back.
Christian Reith drives AWESOME LAD to the post
It took
AWESOME LAD a further 125m to draw up level with Bravio and then with 75m to run, stride by stride,
AWESOME LAD pulled away from Bravio however Surjin was rattling home under 57.0kgs with its 4.0kg pull in the weights. This required
AWESOME LAD to dig deep which he did to hold off that runner.
None of his 14 peers had any excuses as they all had their chance but the class of Horse, Rider and Trainer prevailed.
We purchased
AWESOME LAD ($75,000) and his younger Full Sister
DOMINANT LADY ($45,000) both from the
Gooree Park Stud dispersal sale of the Estate of the Late Eduardo Cojuangco held at the Magic Millions on the 4th August and we gave both horses to Jason Deamer to train for us.
We thank the Team at GOOREE PARK for their insight and their wonderful horse husbandry because we use their magnificent property and excellent horsemanship skills to continue the sensational run of success we are achieving for our owners. GOOREE PARK have become wonderful allies for Dynamic Syndications.
Jason has done a brilliant job with them.
AWESOME LAD returning after his win
AWESOME LAD has had 2 starts for 2 Wins and Dominant Lady has had 2 starts for a Win and a fourth.
AWESOME LAD has taken his Overall career record to 5 starts: 3 Wins, 1 Third and $59,945.
He has won at Gosford (1200m), Hawkesbury (1300m) and Newcastle (1350m).
His Benchmark Rating after this win rose 5 points to a rating of
69 which pushes him now into
mid-week grade.
AWESOME LAD and CHRISTIAN REITH return to the Winner's Circle
AWESOME LAD won his first start for us at Hawkesbury and we were extremely happy with our horse entering into that event but firmly believed whatever he did there, he would improve on significantly in his next few starts. As it has turned out, he has won his second start for us now, and looks to be capable of city class in the right event.
We also knew that he has been a lazy trackworker, only doing enough to please his rider and if the rider dropped their hands to coast to the post, he would think the job was done, so we didn’t want to be a leader but rather chase the leaders and arrive over the last 100m.
We certainly got the tactics right because that is how this race panned out and thanks to a great ride, we were able to deliver back-to-back Wins for our owners.
