5.16 Lengths was the official margin posted by
Dynamic Syndications highly promising
3yo filly AFRICAN DAISY (AMERICAN PHAROAH ex CIGUARAYA (USA)) when our
$1.24 favourite, ridden by
Brodie Loy, went around in an exhibition gallop that was not much harder than a trackwork sit and dash, to claim Race 1 at Wyong on Thursday afternoon the
HMA Group 1350m Maiden Plate.
It was that easy !
Trained for us by
Annabel Neasham at Warwick Farm, AFRICAN DAISY looked a moral on paper, then after there were 3 scratchings from the race at 7:30am this morning, punters quickly rallied to the promising
daughter of AMERICAN PHAROAH backing her from
$1.30 into $1.24 in the field of 8 runners.
AFRICAN DAISY had posted notification that she was more than handy at her first preparation for her
Dynamic Ownership Team, when she had three race starts in that prep.
On debut she had flashing lights over an unsuitable 1300m event at Scone when finishing sixth. She followed that up with a
terrific runner-up position at
Canterbury at her second start over the increased trip of 1550m on a Heavy 10 and only inexperience and racecraft cost her that day.
Then at her third start she was back on Heavy ground when 4th at Canterbury over 1550m. She lightened off in condition over those 3 runs, and we knew we had something special on our hands, so we tipped her out and gave her a chance to mature and fill out.
She came in this preparation bigger and stronger and Annabel has taken her time getting the filly ready to resume, with two very impressive trials at Warwick Farm over 740m and then 1200m at her most recent effort.
We had our eye on this event over 1350m at Wyong and two days later at a 1400m event at Newcastle to kick off her campaign.
Whilst the 1350m was a suitable trip, and she has shown a liking to wet ground, it was still an ask to resume on a bottomless bog heap. Ideally, in the run we would have liked to get cover in the race and let the speed go, and then take a trail to give her a more economical trip and leave petrol in the tank for the finish.
Jumping from barrier 6 in a field of 8,
AFRICAN DAISY flew the lids and landed a length in front and Brodie Loy simply steered her across the face of the field to find the fence and as anticipated, Gem Flight worked up to sit at our girth and then rolled 3/4 length in advance, as Brodie restrained
African Daisy on the fence into second spot.
No pressure was applied from any others in the race, as
African Daisy and Gem Flight carved out soft early sectional splits. Passing the 600m mark Brodie slipped African Daisy some rein and she muscled herself to the lead as Gem Flight on her outside began to yield and those chasing came straight off the bit.
Swinging into the home turn, Brodie was simply an armchair passenger as the
Dynamic Duo hacked up to a 3-length lead as they turned into the straight.
At the 100m
Under hands and heels
African Daisy bounded clear and was almost 7 lengths in front passing the 100m mark and passing the 50m point
At the 50m
Brodie grabbed hold of our filly to restrain her. She resent this and got her head up and fought the rider to the line because she resented being restrained as she wanted to go faster to the line.
She's certainly light on her feet !
Smile for the camera !
They wound down to a canter across the line, yet
African Daisy still posted a
5.16 lengths winning margin over the second favourite Gracious Gracie ($7.50) with Australian Citizen back in third spot 6.41 lengths behind our filly.
AFRICAN DAISY & BRODIE LOY returning to the Winner's Circle
The margin would have been significantly further if at any time Brodie asked our filly to extend.
We certainly chose the right option kicking off her campaign over the 1350m at provincial level and earning the first prize cheque of
$16,740 plus the BOBS BONUS attached to the race.
Whilst she won with ease, this trip is still well short of a distance we believe she will prefer, which could see her aiming at some Black Type in Queensland in the coming weeks at 2000m and further.
Jet Pilot BRODIE LOY wins another race in our silks
Jet pilot Brodie Loy said to the owners:
“Yeah lovely, just jumped well, settled beautiful, had a great kick, hopeful can progress now and go to better things. She was a bit green and wayward up the straight but that’s just doing it a lot easier than the rest of them so really good run. Thanks for the ride.”
African Daisy was forward enough in condition to handle this assignment; however, she still has several length improvement in fitness and condition to come as we get deeper into the preparation. Whilst we can’t get carried away because the class of this opposition was obviously inferior, we are excited about how far our filly may take us.
Co-Owner Team Member Mark Annabel post race in the winner's circle said it was a "fantastic day."

These
American Pharoah progeny are doing a very good job on the racetrack for a young stallion and a breed that will keep getting better as they get older and distances increase.
AMERICAN PHAROAH at Stud
In Australia, AMERICAN PHAROAH'S oldest are just 3yo’s and he has now produced 25 Individual Winners of 37 races and 65 placings. He has 3 Stakes Winners and 2 Stakes Placed with earnings of $1,165,793.
On Anzac Day he sired his
4th Individual 2yo Winner named
TIJUANA who won the Listed Anzac Day Stakes and became his
27th Stakes Winner and his
3rd Stakes Winner in Australia.
African Daisy became his
22nd Individual 3yo Winner in Australia this season.
Overall
AMERICAN PHAROAH has sired
229 Individual Winners including 27 Stakes Winners and 21 Stakes Placegetters.
Dynamic Syndications also have a magnificent
2yo colt by AMERICAN PHAROAH from LISSON GROVE named AUSSIE PHAROAH and the feed back from our educator and his trainer suggest he is also way above average. However, we are resisting the challenge to push him as a 2yo and are waiting for the spring 3yo races.
On the strength of what the two we have are doing, we went into the market this year and
purchased another two (2) yearlings by the promising sire.
The way they have broken-in and what they have shown us to date, our only regret is we didn’t buy more of them.
We purchased
a colt by AMERICAN PHAROAH from WAR HEROINE and gave him to our
“go-to” trainer Jason Deamer at Newcastle.
This colt is an
absolute “belter” that represents dream buying. He is a son of the world champion superstar racehorse and champion first and second season sire in the USA.
Importantly he is from a
LONHRO Mare that was a
dual Stakes Winner, and his second Dam is also a Stakes Winner. The sire is on fire and the Dam was a racetrack star.
5% Shares are brilliant value at just $7,560 inc GST and all costs to 30 June 22.

Our second purchase we are delaying until the
1st July 22 before offering her to the market.
She is by
AMERICAN PHAROAH from the 3-time winning Sydney Saturday class mare IN TIMES OF WAR (by Street Cry).
The Second Dam is
MILITARY ROSE – the brilliant race filly who
won the Magic Millions amongst 6 race wins-5 in succession at 2- and was ranked the
Second Top Filly in Australia in 2009-10.
Leading breeder and Magic Millions owner GERRY HARVEY bred this filly, and when
Dynamic Syndications purchased her,
Gerry told us that he would like to buy back a
leg (25%) because he loved her so much and she had been a clean filly from the time she was foaled.
That’s the best endorsement you can have, when
Uncle Gerry wants to race them with us!
She will be trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.
5% Shares are $11,150 inc GST and All Costs to 30 June.
