Last year the Team at
Arrowfield Stud alerted potential breeders to their
champion DUNDEEL that the big lift in both:
(A) the numbers and
(B) quality of
Dundeel’s 2020 and 2021 crops, would turbo-charge the sire into the next stage of his already brilliant career.
DUNDEEL - Sire at Arrowfield Stud
After his first couple of
million-dollar yearlings and a
career-best Inglis Easter average of $368,000 in 2022 it marked a
new phase in Dundeel’s career.
This year’s yearling sale results for his 2020 crop confirmed that
buyers also heard and understood the message, and liked what they saw in the salering, rewarding breeders & vendors accordingly:
91 lots averaged $239,000 across the 2022 Magic Millions, Inglis Classic, Premier & Easter sales.
Dundeel posted a career-best average of
$368,000 at Inglis Easter 2022, highlighted by his
first two $1 million+ yearlings, and a Magic Millions January average of
$246,000.
54 Dundeel yearlings sold for $200,000 or more, and 13 made $400,000+.
2022 buyers of Dundeel yearlings include: China Horse Club & Newgate, Ciaron Maher & David Eustace, Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott, Dynamic Syndications, Godolphin, Hawkes Racing, Lindsay Park, Mick Price & Mick Kent Jnr, Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou, Julian Blaxland/Freedman Racing, TFI/Kia Ora, etc.
This kind of support by the
excellent diverse buying bench makes breeding to Dundeel in 2022 a
smart strategy.
That’s because his 2023 foals will be yearlings in 2025 when his first two crops bred at the
$66,000 Service Fee and representing an increased volume and quality will be in their prime of their racing careers as 3YOs & 4YOs.
And ….. given what Dundeel has done already; 9.5% Stakes Horses/Runners - including 5 Group 1 winners; in two years’ time, the 2024/25 season is going to be very exciting indeed.
DUNDEEL (NZ) (High Chaparral (IRE) x Stareel (NZ) by Zabeel) stands at Arrowfield in 2022 at a fee of $66,000 inc. GST.
DUNDEEL - Horse Of The Year
DUNDEEL - Horse of the Year in NZ in 2013-14. Champion 3YO in NZ in 2012-13. Champion Middle Distance Male in Australia & NZ in 2013-14. 10 wins-1 at 2-from 1200m to 2400m, NZ$7,550, A$5,386,160, ATC Queen Elizabeth S., Gr.1, Australian Derby, Gr.1, Rosehill Guineas, Gr.1, Randwick Guineas, Gr.1, Spring Champion S., Gr.1, MRC Underwood S., Gr.1, ATC Gloaming S., Gr.3, Allan Denham Racing H., Australian Turf Club H., 2d ATC BMW S., Gr.1, Queen Elizabeth S., Gr.1, Chipping Norton S., Gr.1, MVRC Mitchelton Wines Vase, Gr.2, 3d ATC Ranvet S., Gr.1, 4th MRC Memsie S., Gr.1, ATC Hobartville S., Gr.2.
DUNDEEL entered stud in Aust. in 2014. Sire of 336 progeny to race, 211 winners (62.0%), earnings of over $28 million, 17 stakes winners, 15 stakes placegetters.
DUNDEEL is a “Hot Sire” because the market sees what we see: a
solid-gold Group 1 Sire whose 2020 and 2021 crops will take him to a whole new level of performance.
Their dams include more than
3-times the number of stakes-performed mares that produced his first two crops.
18 of them are Group 1 winners like:
Abbey Marie, Jameka, Kenedna, Miss Finland, Princess Coup, Qafila & Sunday Joy.
And we know what those first two crops produced.
Five Group 1 winners including a pair of stellar colts,
Castelvecchio & Super Seth, both now at stud.
Dundeel has followed up with
12 stakes performers in 2021/22 season, four were placed at Group 1 level including 2YO
Let'srollthedice.
Dundeel - t
he grandson of Sadler’s Wells and Zabeel, is a compelling package of outcross genetics, irresistible athleticism, high energy and mental toughness, as is very evident in his first
17 stakes winners.
Dundeel announced his arrival as a major sire-in-the-making with a rapid-fire sequence of
six Stakes Winners in the first four months of 2019.
Three of them were Group 1 winners:
CASTELVECCHIO
Castelvecchio - Timeform Australia's co-Champion 2YO & Champagne S. G1 winner;
YOURDEEL
Yourdeel - Champion New Zealand 2YO; and
ATYAAB
Atyaab - South African Classic winner.
The following Spring, they were joined by
Dundeel's fourth Group 1 winner from his first two crops,
Super Seth - Caulfield Guineas G1 winner.
Only two (2) other sires in history, both
champions - Danehill (7) and Redoute’s Choice (5) have ever sired more Group 1 winners in their
first three seasons than
Dundeel.
Castelvecchio chimed in with a world-class performance when runner-up to Japan's Horse of the Year Lys Gracieux in the 2019 Cox Plate G1 and returned in the Autumn of 2020 to add the Rosehill Guineas G1 to his record.
Both Super Seth & Castelvecchio retired to stud in 2020, but it didn't take long for Dundeel to unfurl his 5th Group 1 winner, the Western Australian star -
Truly Great. Sadly,
Truly Great died in March 2021 but his
5 wins from 7 starts between October 2020 and January 2021 featured three dominant Group victories, including the $1 million Kingston Town S. G1.
Fresh talent has arrived in the form of
2YO Let'srollthedice (VRC Sires' Produce S. G2, 3rd ATC Sires' Produce S. G1), 3YO’s
Victoria Quay (Wakeful S. G2) &
Ain'tnodeeldun (Listed wins at Flemington & Morphettville) and Group 1 performers
She's Ideel, Entente, Hit The Shot, Let's Karaka Deel & Teewaters - all among
Dundeel's 24 stakes horses in two seasons of 2020/21 and 2021/22.
Dundeel's book quality and yearling prices have followed the upward trajectory of his escalating career.
He has more than 300 foals in his 2020 & 2021 crops, and their dams include a mouth-watering list of Group 1 winners:

These two crops, the new season 2YO’s and the new yearlings of 2022/23, can and will continue to elevate
Dundeel to the
top echelon of Australian sires within the next
two seasons.
DUNDEEL A TOP 10 STALLION IN 2 SEASONS
As we have rolled into the new racing season, and with our 2021/22 review already completed, we now set our attention to the future.
Dynamic Syndications believes that after careful analysis DUNDEEL will be a Top 10 Sire.
We have a
large database of information on their next generation, and for
fact finding and general interest,
Dynamic Syndications made the
'Prediction' for the seasons to come.
We predict that
Arrowfield Stud's DUNDEEL will elevate himself into one of the Top 10 active stallions in Australia by progeny earnings, on the back of this current 2yo crop and those crops to follow.
This is a big statement when you consider
DUNDEEL'S highest achievement to date on the Australian General Sires table is
20th place in 2019/20, mainly due to lack of racing crops because he is a young sire and for the 2021-22 season which just concluded,
Dundeel finished in
26th place as at 31 July 2022.
However ..... It's when you look at his results against his peers in the 5th Crop Sires, DUNDEEL had a marvellous season.
DUNDEEL finished in
third place by winners.
Zoustar produced 154 / 306 and Spirit Of Boom produced 132 / 275 with Dundeel 106 / 230. These boys were the only 5th crop sires to break 100+ winners in the season.
Whilst
DUNDEEL was Fourth by Earnings.
SHAMUS AWARD thanks to an inflated tally by his son
Incentivise ($5.4m) was
First with
$14.470m.
Second was
ZOUSTAR with
$12,457m and
Third was
SPIRIT OF BOOM with
$9.592m and
DUNDEEL earned
$6.836m.
Here are the facts why we believe Dundeel will be a Top 10 Stallion:
DUNDEEL at Arrowfield
1. Dundeel is a high-class stallion on many measures:
Stallion Data -
Dundeel was a target stallion for us this year’s yearling sales on the back of the detailed data analysis we did leading into the sales season.
Per our data systems, he runs at
22% Metropolitan Saturday class gallopers to runners, and he has an impressive conversion rate of
9.3% stakes class gallopers to runners.
This latter measure puts him in the
Top 10 Active Sires in Australia and shows us that when you get a good one by
Dundeel - you could
'go all the way' to Gr1 glory.
Group 1 Gun - as detailed above
Dundeel has a tremendous strike rate of high-class gallopers. His
five (5) Group 1 winners is only bettered by
Danehill (7) and Redoute's Choice (5).
Stallion Potential -
Dundeel already has two (2) commercial sons at stud through Waikato Stud's Super Seth & Arrowfield Stud's Castelvecchio.
AEI (Average Earning Index) - a stallion's calculated Average Earnings Index is a useful comparison. Where
1 on the index equals the average,
Dundeel had an
AEI of 1.39 which equates to his progeny earning
39% more than their counterparts in the same generation.
2. Top Class Back-Up On The Way
Dundeel stood his first five seasons at a fee of
$25,000 + GST and he averaged
143 mares a season over this period (719 mares in total).
These five crops are Dundeel's current crop of just turned 3yo’s through to his oldest crop just turning 8yo’s.
On the back of his early Group 1 success, Dundeel's stud fee was raised to $60,000 + GST in 2019, and in the
three seasons since then, he has covered an average of
176 mares (529 mares) including some of the finest mares Australia has to offer.
The market has not missed the step up in quality offerings by Dundeel, proven when you review his historical yearling sales results:

With
Dundeel's strong showing already as a young sire, it appears highly probable that his increased mare quality due to his rise in service fee and his progeny success on the track and numbers coming through over the next few seasons, will elevate him into the next bracket of Australia's stallion ranks. He has top class back-up on the way!
Our Game Plan:
Dundeel was a target stallion for us this year based on
his data, the
quality of mare he covered in 2019, and
the value they present in the marketplace.
DYNAMIC Opportunity:
If you would like to join us as we ride the wave of success and further upside Dundeel offers, we have a fabulous Filly with a booming black-type pedigree to contemplate.
Our Filly by DUNDEEL x SPORT CHIC
OUR FILLY in Training 21-7-22
Our Filly is certainly light on her feet ! 21-7 22
Our Filly in the paddock at Gooree Park 26-7 22
She is a great type from Australia’s Leading Thoroughbred Nursery, the farm that produces Group 1 success:
What You Need To Know:
One of the best value Fillies we purchased in 2022, especially when you consider her size, strength and outstanding conformation, clean X-rays and Grade 1 scope, which marries into her highly commercial pedigree page - and her DAM named SPORT CHIC – was not only a Caulfield winning 2yo, she is also a daughter of super sire REDOUTE’S CHOICE, who (for the third time) was crowned Champion Broodmare Sire.
DEALMAKER - 4 Wins & $522,780 & 10-times Stakes Performer
Another very important factor is – this filly is the full-sister to high quality racehorse DEALMAKER (by Dundeel) 4 Wins & $522,780, he was stakes performed on 10 occasions.
DEALMAKER as a yearling - He is the Full Brother to our Filly
SPORT CHIC (by Redoute's Choice) - Caulfield Winning 2yo & Dam of our Filly
Our Filly is the First Filly produced from her Dam SPORT CHIC and being the full sister to DEALMAKER ensures she will retain excellent residual value for the breeding barn when eventual racetrack retirement occurs.
RICHARD & WILL FREEDMAN - Rosehill Trainers
We have placed this magnificent filly into the care of Rosehill trainers RICHARD & WILLIAM FREEDMAN – The Dynamic Duo have been supplying Team Dynamic with excellent racetrack success and we have kept rewarding the father and son training combination with high quality racing prospects. Originally we were intending to send the filly to GAI & ADRIAN however we swapped stables to reward RICHARD & WILL for the great work they are doing and results they are achieving for Team Dynamic and our owners.
