DYNAMIC HORSE OF THE WEEK – FIRST FOOTMAN (GER)

Dynamic Syndications are proud to advise our latest HORSE OF THE WEEK is promising European Import FIRST FOOTMAN (GER) trained by Richard / Michael / Will FREEDMAN.

This horse has been a challenge since we purchased him however he went to the races for his first run in almost 2 years at Newcastle on Thursday and ran an eye-catching 4th in his first Southern Hemisphere assignment.

FIRST FOOTMAN was purchased in Europe to aim at middle-distance and staying races in Australia.

When we purchased him he had raced on 9 occasions in England for 5 runner-up results.

When he arrived in Australia he was in training but on our hard tracks he pulled-up a bit scratchy one morning and x-rays found he had chipped both knees.

After surgery and an extended spell, he then had a long, slow build up to be ready to race.

Then we gave him 3 barrier trials to be considered ready to go to the sport.

In 3 previous runs in the Northern Hemisphere under 2000m he had been beaten a combined 27.5 lengths but once he got to 2000m he grew another leg.

We know First Footman needs 2000m and further however we have to lay solid foundations to get there and on Thursday at Newcastle, he was given 61.0kgs over a short 1500m giving significant weight to all other runners.

On a track which was displaying wicked bias towards leaders, FIRST FOOTMAN couldn’t keep up in the fast run tempo set early and drifted a dozen lengths off the leaders early. Jockey Tommy Berry angled wide in the run and came down the outside where at the 300m he looked the winner before he ran out of gas first up in combat after 2 years and under the big weight was still strong through the line to run a very pleasing 4th position just 2 lengths from the winner.

This was a courageous run by the horse and was wonderful to see for his loyal Dynamic Owners who have shown enormous patience.

Tommy Berry was delighted in the horse and immediately reported he will be winning races in the near future.

He advised not to waste time at 1600m but to go straight to 1800m next start and with this under his belt he will strip a lot fitter.
