“If you can’t beat ‘em – Join ‘em” and that’s exactly what Dynamic Syndications did when we went to the TATTERSALLS Horses-In-Training Sale at Newmarket England and purchased a tried middle-distance / staying prospect.

As a result, our Dynamic Owners enjoyed racetrack success at Warwick Farm on Wednesday afternoon when our FIRST Dynamic Syndications European Import named MUSHAIREB (GB) a 5yo Bay Gelding by INVINCIBLE SPIRIT (IRE) from HIDDEN BRIEF (GB) won with authority Race 8 - the AUSTRALIAN TURF CLUB Handicap a Benchmark 74 event over 1400m.
MUSHAIREB winning at Warwick Farm 17/4/19
This was MUSHAIREB’S second career start in Australia. His previous start was an eye-catching effort when runner-up over 1600m seven months earlier, back on the 1st August 2018. After that run, he developed a quarter-crack in a hoof and then developed a respiratory infection.
After some great work and horse husbandry management by our veterinarian Dr Tim Roberts the horse was right to return to training.
The “People’s Trainer” Richard Freedman and his co-training son Will, have done a great job with “MUSHI” and that resulted in this blistering first up win.
Techniques Richard and Will have employed to ensure his hooves were protected included a special “Flip-flop” shoe similar to a rubber thong, for daily wear, and that has been a remarkable success.
Also too, MUSHI is full of energy and a touch anti-social so Richard and Will’s horse management has both quieted down MUSHI and allowed him to concentrate in trackwork. He has a few traits that are unusual, including a desire to always be with his mate – a stable pony, and they go to and from trackwork together and the pony walks Mushi out onto the training track and then, waits there for Mushi to finish his work and they walk off the track together and walk home.
However, with patience and dedication, our Vet and our Trainer have allowed Mushi to shine and the horse shows enormous potential.
You can see for yourself what a marvellous effort Mushi put in to score. He jumped sweetly to be an early leader and then after the first 100m, the pace went on and the field put on a suicidal tempo clocking 10.95 and 11.1 for the next 2 furlongs.
Jet Pilot Tim Clark quickly summed up the pace and allowed Mushi to come back a pair and got a lovely trail in the one out / one back spot. As the field swung for home, they bunched and swoopers were full of running and momentum down the outside. Unfortunately Mushi was held up on the back of the tiring horses in front and was twice baulked when gaps appears and closed.

Win
It was only at the 200m did he see daylight and by then he was spotting the leaders a couple of lengths.
Once clear of traffic and with 150m to go, the turbo kicked-in and in a blink, he had hit the front and went on to score an eased down, yet widening 1.5 length win.

MUSHAIREB being returned to scale as a winner in Australia
Connections all know he has a truck load of ability and he is well above average however his hyped up temperament, also being a bit “tubby,” as well as 1400m being well short of his expected 2000m + preferred trip and then, carrying 60.0kgs were all going to conspire to make his first-up task difficult to win, however class rises to the top and that was on display.
Pre-Race parade
We are convinced he has several lengths improvement still to come, so along with an increase in trip, MUSHAIREB certainly looks one to follow.
A trip north over the Brisbane Winter Carnival may even become part of the agenda this preparation. We are simply taking one day at a time however consideration towards Brisbane is certainly justified.
Next up a Benchmark 78 race over 1550m around Randwick’s Kensington track on the 4th May looks an ideal stepping stone as we increase his fitness and distance but there are several other options also available.
