DYNAMIC Team Justify Belief in GRACED with Second WIN
DYNAMIC Team Justify Belief in GRACED with Second WIN

On Saturday at Wagga there was a
Country Showcase Meeting
and
Team Dynamic
sent our
4yo mare
GRACED
to the sport and she delivered her
second WIN
for the preparation, and her second
WIN
in her past
4 starts
for her
team of Dynamic Owners
and her
trainer
locally based Dynamic Trainer
Darrell Burnet.
GRACED (4yo m Justify ex Tingu)
competed in Race 3 the
REXEL WAGGA WAGGA Showcase Class 1 & Maiden Plate (1600m)
and was ridden by Darrell’s brother-in-law
Nick Heywood.
A field of 10 runners faced the starter where the betting was suffocated by the presence of
O’Hellyeah (53.5kgs)
a
$1.30
favourite.
That runner could not repel the dominant display of
GRACED
(57.0kgs) as our mare won eased down by 0.8 length over O’Hellyeah (53.5kgs) who finished runner-up whilst I Am Vengeance (55.0kgs) was 1.31 lengths third. On a Good 4, they ran a Time: 1:37.24 Last 600m: 0:35.53.
As the barriers clanged back, Nick Heywood had
GRACED
jumping away well from barrier 4 and pushed forward to take a controlling position before two runners from out deep worked across to take up the running and allowed Nick to get
GRACED
into an easy rhythm on the back of the leader Deloris who had the runner Rising Water work across and sit at its girth after the first 100m.
As the field established its positions at the end of the first furlong, Deloris held the paint with Rising Water in attendance on its outside and this pair put on a spurt of speed giving
GRACED
the perfect trail.
1200m
Passing the 1200m the field began to spread and
GRACED
was perfectly positioned 2.5 lengths off the leader with nine lengths covering the field whilst the odds-on favourite was being restrained three lengths further back than
GRACED
but was one off the fence with cover in a stalking role.
1000m
800m
Nothing changed for the next 550m before the field began their swing into the home straight. At this point the leading pair began to yield and the field started to bunch up on the point of the turn and this allowed the favourite the perfect cart-up into a striking position whilst
GRACED
who was following the leaders was held up in a pocket.
At the 400m
GRACED
was in an awkward position in third spot 2 lengths off the lead and looking for a way out as the field fanned for the run home.
turn
300m
Nick Heywood waited until the 300m before angling out 3 deep off the heels of those in front and trying to stave off those runners full of momentum that were deeper on the track.
200m
From the 200m to the 100m
GRACED
was able to balance-up and work to hit the front at the 100m.
100m
Despite the big weight pull of 3.5kgs (work approximately in handicap terms 2.3 lengths in distance) once
GRACED
hit the front she was in cruise control and stretching out with big strides.
Photo Taken
Nick just kept her mind focused over the final 50m with the race won he was kind to
GRACED
as the
Dynamic Duo
were in cruise control as the camera flashed.
JOB DONE!
Nick Heywood
was greeted by his sister (and Darrell’s wife)
Brittany,
who had the camera rolling for
our Dynamic Owners.
Brittany started by saying:
“Nick comes back on GRACED the winner, congratulations.”
Nick Heywood
“Thanks, she had a lovely run in transit, she drew a nice gate, I had a lovely run, travelled well; I just had to be patient coming to the corner, I didn’t just want to come out full pelt and collect someone up, so I was quite happy to bide my time, and she did a good job to pick up from a stop-start after that. She’s done a really good job, and she got that TAB Winner off her back.”
Brittany concluded:
“Fantastic, she’s a beautiful horse, thanks Nick.”

There is little doubt that the way our mare presents and the way she is bred, that further distance will suit the mare and she will be competitive at 2000m and further.
