Proudly, the
Team at DYNAMIC SYNDICATIONS report that we have achieved our
700th Race Win on Friday night at Canterbury and our
46th for the current season when our promising 3yo gelding
MAJOR ARTIE (ARTIE SCHILLER (USA) from MAJOR CONQUEST) produced a tough win in driving rain to claim
Race 6, The Agency Real Estate Handicap Benchmark 72 over 1550m.
This win was significant because
MAJOR ARTIE carried 58.5kgs equal top weight, but he was the
only 3yo in the race taking on the older, stronger, more mature horses. That is a huge effort to carry top weight and give away, age and experience to claim victory.
Turned out in impeccable order by the Tulloch Lodge Team, it was the
“bone and muscle” that
Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott polish into their horses that came to the fore, along with as usual, an excellent ride by our
“go-too” horseman
Nash Rawiller that assisted
MAJOR ARTIE to be strong through the line to claim a well-earned victory.
In achieving this target MAJOR ARTIE has advanced his career record to:
7 Starts = 3 Wins, 0 Seconds, 2 thirds, 1 fourth and now $107,445 in earnings.
Dynamic Syndications wish to
acknowledge and praise our team member Andrew Baddock and his Crew at GOOREE PARK who recommended we should purchase
MAJOR ARTIE when the horse was offered for sale through the
Disbursal Sale of the Estate of the Late Eduardo Cojuangco at the
Magic Millions in August.
MAJOR ARTIE at the sales
We inspected the horse and considered him as
“clean as a whistle” and then
our Vet Dr Tim Roberts said MAJOR ARTIE was “clean of wind and limb” and agreed with Andrew Baddock that we should buy him, so we did for
$37,500 + GST.
Since then,
MAJOR ARTIE has started in 5 races for his excited group of Dynamic Owners, recording 3 Wins, 1 Third and 1 Fourth and earned $100,445.
He won his Maiden at Canterbury over 1250m on the 1st January.
Major Artie winning at Canterbury 1/1/21
Last start on
27 January, he won over 1600m at Gosford and he dropped back in trip to 1550m at Canterbury for this Win as a fitness foundation stone to advance in trip.
Winning at Gosford 1600m 27/1
Importantly, we believe he is very much
still learning his racecraft and he has been crying out for
longer distance events in better class.
However, we have to lay the fitness foundations and needed to advance in his Benchmark Ratings to give us an opportunity to compete in our target races.
He has now earned his benchmark ranking and will be
given his chance to continue advancing up the pecking order in the coming weeks.
On Friday night, he had to do it the hard way. He jumped quickly as is his pattern and preference to lead, however an inferior, older 5yo gelding trained by Mark Newnham named Knowitall Jack carrying 1.0kg less than us, which was heavily backed into second favourite to beat us, tried to upset our racing pattern by leading but that failed miserably, as Nash was happy to let that horse roll and we sat at the girth of the leader.
As the field approached the home turn Nash was sitting a length off the leader and slipped
MAJOR ARTIE a little more rein to apply pressure to the leader. As the field straightened, Nash pushed the go button and
MAJOR ARTIE worked through his gears.
Looking for further, he was unable to sprint but worked home solidly.
At the 200m he was still one length off the leader but chasing hard. He had caught the leader by the 100m and by the 50m he was a neck and then a 1/2 length in front before a late charge down the outside from runner-up Above And Beyond who had been stalking
MAJOR ARTIE throughout the event, was able to get that horse to within a neck on the line but it was never a threat.
MAJOR ARTIE 58.5kgs ($3.10 fav) defeated ABOVE AND BEYOND 58.5kgs ($6.50) by 0.2 length with KNOWITALL JACK 57.5kgs ($3.70) a fading 0.6 length third in a time: 1:33.26 with the last 600m: 0:35.72.
Post-Race Commentary:
Richard Callander: “MAJOR ARTIE for Gai and Adrian, big, strong, he had the biceps out bulging Nash, and he get’s Major Artie home. But the Winner was tough.”
Paul Joice: “Yeah the Winner was tough, just brute strength from Nash on Major Artie got him home. Above and Beyond was coming but once again, (Major Artie) sat outside the lead, did all the work in the run, Nash just drove him to the line and it was a good result for punters.”
Richard Callander interviewed Tulloch Lodge Foreman NEILL PAINE:
RC: “Well done Neill. I tell you what, you would swear we’re at the football or something, a thousand owners!”
NP: I looked at the owners up there in the grandstand, they charged to the front like a mad soccer game, screaming and yelling, all young blokes that own the horse, that was great and Gee Wizz, isn’t this horse racing in good form.”
RC: “You know what – He’s a Winner!”
NP: “Exactly right, and Nash rode him an absolute treat. You can see how strong Nash was last 100m on the horse, so it was really good to see and really pleased for Dynamic, the Owners, so it’s a popular win.”
RC: “Seeing your owners tonight, that’s what it is about.”
NP: “Exactly right and just standing here with you Richard, we get a kick out of these wins, seeing everyone wrapped and happy and jumping about, I felt like running up there and jumping with them! Thank you.”
RC: “There he is, Neill Paine for Gai and Adrian and in the Dynamic Syndications Colours, well done to Dean Watt and the Team, and they needed Nash’s big, bad, biceps, and he (Major Artie) got out to $3.00 on the fixed odds.”
Nash Rawiller brought back MAJOR ARTIE to the Winner’s stall to wonderful, exceptionally raucous scenes of a large group of very excited owners standing in heavy rain, cheering the horse and jockey home like the stars of the turf that they were.
TAB’s Glen Munsie then added to the commentary:
“They have a good team here Dynamic Syndications, and they have a had a trot, they had a horse win today at Tamworth, having its first start for Jason Deamer, it won by a 100 yards GUMNUTS, which they actually purchased off Godolphin. It’s interesting to see they are buying some tried horses, and that’s not a bad way, especially when you’ve got a big syndicate of owners, they want to get there horse to the races fairly quickly.”
Just some of our great team of owners who welcomed NASH Back to the Winner's stall
Post-race Nash was interviewed by Paul Joice for Sky Central:
PJ: “Nash, brute strength got you home there, great ride.”
NR: “Oh, probably Gai and Adrian’s “bone and muscle” I’d say. He’s a horse that I was weary about coming into this trip and no doubt he can step up into something a bit further next time. I think it will be in the Autumn, he’s a promising horse on the way up and a nice sort of 2000m race is something he can win. There is something nice at Randwick there, at Group 3 level that might be right up his alley."
PJ: “You have a lot of very happy owners over there Nash, good luck getting past them and well done.”
NR: “Thanks.”
Richard Callander then spoke with co-commentator Paul Joice with a preamble into the following race:
RC: “I want to talk to you about those owners, they are the scenes that should be on front covers.”
RC: “You see tonight, it’s a Friday night, there would have been 30 young blokes there, and all the young blokes in the horse, they were giving Dean Watt’s son Adam, a wrestle, headlock cuddles, and they were all over him, you know they are the pictures I love to see!
PJ: “exactly right Richard, we love to see it, punters winning is great and owners winning is just as good because they are just as important in the industry.”
