DYNASTIES Deliver - Sires and Their Sire Sons Lead the Way in Australian Group 1 Success
DYNASTIES Deliver - Sires and Their Sire Sons Lead the Way in Australian Group 1 Success

Following on from our review of Wednesday’s Breednet.com.au article where the
58 Group 1 Winners
of the
73
Group 1 races
during the 2018-19 racing season were analysed, these
results
revealed the
58 Australian Group 1 winners
for this season had interesting
statistics relating to purchase price.
In this article, we follow-on by
analysing the way these 58 Group 1 winners were bred.
And the results reveal no surprises as the
Danehill sireline
is still the dominant force producing
15
Group 1 winners (
26%
) - more than double the number of Group 1 winners produced by the next best sireline.
However when
11
of these 58 Group 1 Winners were Northern Hemisphere bred horses
, then we must compare the
15
Danehill sireline against the
47
Australasian bred Group 1 Winners.
Here we see it’s actually
32%
of Group 1 winners in the Australian 2018-19 season.
DANEHILL
It’s amazing when you consider Danehill died in 2003 and 16 years later he's still the most influential force in the pedigrees of our Group 1 winners with
32
of them (
55%
) carrying Danehill in their pedigrees in some capacity.
The evolution of the Danehill sireline is fascinating if you like statistics (
which we do
).
It’s interesting to see his
Champion sons
Redoute's Choice, Fastnet Rock
and
Exceed and Excel
all sired Group 1 winners in their own right this season and importantly, they achieved Group 1 success with their sire sons:
REDOUTE'S CHOICE
REDOUTE'S CHOICE
– sire of
The Autumn Sun
REDOUTE’S CHOICE sire sons –
Not a Single Doubt
- sire of
Kenedna, Qafila
Stratum
– sire of
Land of Plenty
Time Thief
– sire of
In Her Time
SNITZEL
SNITZEL
– sire of
Trapeze Artist
SNITZEL sire son -
Shamus Award
– sire of
Mr Quickie
FASTNET ROCK
FASTNET ROCK
– sire of
Prince Fawaz
FASTNET ROCK sire sons -
Smart Missile
– sire of
Maid of Heaven
Hinchinbrook
– sire of
Spright
EXCEED AND EXCEL
– sire of
Microphone
EXCEED AND EXCEL sire sons -
Sidestep
– sire of
Kiamichi
MR PROSPECTOR sireline
The Mr Prospector sireline produced seven (7) Group 1 winners including
Winx
- the best horse in the world, interestingly she is free of Danehill blood. The seven Group 1 winners for Mr Prospector were all sired by shuttle stallions whom are no longer available to Australian breeders with exception being
Alizee,
who is a daughter of Golden Slipper winner Sepoy (by Elusive Quality) from Watchful (a daughter of Danehill).
Alizee herself is from Essaouira - a daughter of Exceed and Excel. So she has a
3 x 3
Danehill cross being Paternal mare line Danehill over a Maternal sireline Danehill.
Alizee she's not the only Australian Group 1 winner this season with this same or similar Danehill cross.
Alizee joins
Verry Elleegant
by Zed (
3 x 3
),
Sunlight
by Zoustar (
4 x 3
), and
Amphitrite
by Sebring (
4 x 3
).
However when reviewing a Danehill cross, it must be stressed that Danehill (sireline) over Danehill (Dam’s Sire) has a very poor strike rate of success.
SADLER’S WELLS sireline
The Sadler's Wells sireline also produced
seven (7) stakes-winners
and highlighted an emerging sire dynasty for the late
High Chaparral (IRE)
and his sire sons.
High Chaparral sired Group 1 winner
Princess Jenni
,
while his sons had a Group 1 winner each.
Dundeel sired
Castelvecchio
and
So You Think sired
Nakeeta Jane
.
SIR TRISTRAM sireline
The
Sir Tristram (IRE)
sireline continues with its success delivering
six (6) Group 1 winners
through his Champion sire
Lonhro siring
Aristia
and
Lyre
whilst his Lonhro’s Champion son
Pierro sired
Pierata
and
Arcadia Queen
.
Also Champion NZ sire
Savabeel sired
Shillelagh
and
Zed sired
Verry Elleegant.
GREEN DESERT sireline
The
Green Desert branch of the Danzig sireline
produced five (5) Group 1 winners and is being seen worldwide as a growing influence through the deeds of champion sire
Invincible Spirit
and his sire sons who include
I Am Invincible,
the
most successful Group 1 sire in Australia
this season with
four (4) individual Group 1 winners:
Oohood, Invincibella, Viddora
and
Voodoo Lad.
Importantly for Owners with
Dynamic Syndications
, we are across these genetic trends when selecting horses on pedigrees well prior to attending the saleyards for the physical inspections.
At the 2019 yearling sales it’s no coincidence Dynamic Syndications purchased yearlings by many of the sires listed above:
FASTNET ROCK, SNITZEL, LONHRO, PIERRO, EXCEED AND EXCEL, ZOUSTAR, SAVABEEL
whilst we also purchased yearlings by new sires
EXOSPHERE
(champion son of Lonhro),
VANCOUVER
(Champion son of Medaglia d’Oro),
CRITERION
(champion son of Sebring),
SCISSOR KICK
(son of Redoute’s Choice).
