Proudly he wears our colours and is trained by Ciaron Maher.

He won 2 of his 4 starts in his first preparation, including the 2200m Geelong Classic LR last Spring, and made his way into the VRC Derby. He did a great job then, and is now being aimed at the ATC Derby in the autumn or alternatively the Qld Derby in the winter.

Our trainer is bullish SAINT EMILION will run very well after being given a short spell, and we live the dream that with the prospects of our Derby runner, can you just imagine if he jags that Gr1, then our new filly would be a half-sister to a Gr1 winner as well as being the 3/4 sister to ALLIGATOR BLOOD.

Our filly was purchased with 3yo Classic races in mind.

She is not bred to be a speedy squib, so will be preserved as a 2yo and not pushed along. She is bred to run 1600m and further as a 3yo and older horse and then, she will hold one of the most commercially desirable pedigrees to head into the broodmare barn, so when her racing career draws to a close, she will still have significant value.

Imagine her value if she can emulate the deeds of her black-type siblings?

With a genetic rating score of A 465% and a Quality rating of Q7, she has the genetics to match the commercial pedigree page.

Bred by Gerry Harvey and offered for sale under his Westbury Stud (as agent) banner, we spoke about racing the filly together and Gerry agreed prior to going through the ring that if we were to purchase the filly, he would retain 50% to race with us. He also confirmed he would put a low $150,000 reserve on her to meet the market and let us know this well in advance, so we had a budget to aim towards investing into the filly.

Ensuring we were holding the $150,000 bid in the ring; the hammer fell our way on this quality filly.

This advanced our stable to 8 new yearlings from this sale and our buying has been fabulous with still another big day of selling due on Friday.

We arrived on the complex and started inspecting horses back on the 1st January with the view of buying half a dozen yearlings.

We inspected 337 yearlings that had qualified with genetic patterns that suited our needs. Then we reduced those to 97 yearlings to be vetted thoroughly. Several failed on x-rays and / or endoscope. With those that remained on our list, we valued them and set our ceiling prices accordingly.

We now have 8 on the books and we still have interest in more lots along the journey.

The buying has been sensational value in a strong but thin market.

That offered a raft of opportunities which, having done our homework, have allowed us to swoop when they presented.

Product Disclosure Statements and Owners Deed will be submitted through to Racing NSW for approval and will be made available once approval letters are returned to our office.

In the meantime, we will be registering potential owner interests in each colt.
