On the track he was
electric and is one of the
FASTEST horses to enter stud in recent memory.
DEEP FIELD set a new
TRACK RECORD at Canterbury at 1100m in 1:03.04 and set a
CLASS RECORD on debut - 1100m in 1:03.18.
He
WON his first
5 races in a row by a combined margin of
24 lengths.
Now a dynamo at stud, DEEP FIELD last season
smashed the
All-Time Record of Individual Winners for a second crop sire with 86 (4 SW), previously held by his own sire
Northern Meteor.
He is way out in front as a
current season 3rd Crop Sire with 107 Winners (5SW). Such is his success; his service fee has jumped to
$88,000 in 2021.
Our new filly is the
First Foal of the
speed mare JACLYN – she
WON 2 Races - 1 at 2 - at 904m and 1000m and was
2nd in the SAJC Schweppes Hcp.
Our filly by DEEP FIELD is bred to be awesome.
COSMIC FORCE
She is a 3/4-Sister to the super-charged 2yo and now an eagerly awaited first season sire; the quicksilver juvenile speedster - COSMIC FORCE (Deep Field x Little Zeta).
COSMIC FORCE was a
true pre-Christmas elite 2YO by one of Australia's hottest sires in
Deep Field.

installed the 2019 Golden Slipper favourite after demolishing a quality field in the
Gr3 Pago Pago by
over 7 lengths, the
largest winning margin by a 2YO in a group race this millennium!
COSMIC FORCE broke a
race record defeating both
Standout and
Microphone in the time-honoured
Gr2 Roman Consul Stakes, emulating the feat in this stallion making race, previously won by successful sires:
Exceed and Excel, Fastnet Rock, Brazen Beau, Zoustar, and Russian Revolution.

Whilst other notable speed horses in this immediate family including stakes winner

Initially we identified this filly on the way she was bred genetically, with a rating score of
A++ 1,771% and a GeoNick rating of
A+ 1,205%.
DEEP FIELD works extremely well with
DANEHILL line mares (
JACLYN is a
DANEHILL line mare).
DEEP FIELD has produced
6 of his stakes winners to date out of
DANEHILL line mares:
COSMIC FORCE Gr1, DIG DEEP Gr2, QUANTUM MECHANIC Gr2, PORTLAND SKY Gr3, FITUESE LR, ISOTOPE LR.
Whilst his
own sire NORTHERN METEOR produced 23 Stakes Winners on the cross and his Sire
ENCOSTA DE LAGO produced 50 Stakes Winners on the cross.
When we saw the filly, she was quality, with good size and scope. A fluid walking filly that glided effortlessly over the ground. She has a big hindquarter and all the appeal of a precocious juvenile.
We placed her on our
finals list and then had her
X-rays reviewed which were passed as
“low risk” and her
videoscope was examined and passed as
Grade 1.
When our vet passed her physically, and she was also fine on X-rays and Scope, it was just a matter of pricing her.
As they say
“Every Champion has a Story.”
We made inquiries of
Widden Stud acting for the vendor, as to where their reserve was being set. We were advised that it was
$60,000 however interest had been strong and they were anticipating the filly to sell well over that figure.
We agreed, believing she would make
over six figures and
deserved to be there.
As such, and
content with what we had already purchased, we chose to
let her go.
She was very late in the sale.
Lot 1822, she was just
9 lots from the end. Interest from buyers had waned. She was in the worse part of the catalogue.
We had already
purchased our Grey Filly by FROSTED the day before and decided to be content with the
one purchase here, and sit on these
20 purchases we had made throughout the year.
Watching as Lot 1822 entered the salering, the filly quickly rose under the auctioneers calls to
$55,000 but they were being
“pulled off the wall.”
We were
astounded when she left the ring
passed-in $55,000 - Reserve $60,000.
The
Team at Widden were aware of our interest in her and approached us a few minutes afterwards to inquire if we would like to make an offer, as understandably, they would prefer to sell horses than take her home. Despite us having
pulled down the shutters on 2021, we
really did like her and because we
had done all our due diligence, we were
comfortable to submit a
sensible offer.
We were happy to buy her at a price we felt would be exceptionally good value for our Owners.
We liked her very much,
Mr Viera, the vendor was a keen seller as he has plenty of horses which he breeds.
We offered $50,000 (+ GST) to Widden’s manager to take to the vendor and Mr Viera accepted.
Job Done!
Our final filly was now DYNAMIC at exceptional value.

In review, 2021 has been an exceptional year at the sales.
We had to work harder than any other year because of the way prices had
skyrocketed across the board.
However, we have still found high quality at value prices for our owners.
Entering into this final sale, we were
already SOLD OUT of all our Magic Millions purchases.
So, the opportunity to add to our stable of future stars was an aim.
We achieved this adding 2 beautiful fillies by top sires, bred to do different jobs.

The FROSTED Filly is a 2000m style of racehorse whilst the DEEP FIELD is a precocious jump and run type that could well aim up into the Magic Millions in January.
