AREBEITSAM won Heat 5 at Randwick this morning by
a massive 13 lengths x 3/4 length allows the ownership team to be confident that they have the prospect of another good preparation ahead of them.

ARBEITSAM (3yo Gelding SNITZEL ex WORKHARD by Red Ransom) has had one previous racing preparation starting
6 times for 2 wins and 3 thirds and banked $120,900 to date and has a 68 Benchmark rating.
He only missed out at his final race of the preparation where after
winning at Warwick Farm by 3.3 lengths defeating accomplished galloper FRANCE (winner of last Saturday’s Inglis Guineas LR),
Arbeitsam was put on the truck and sent to the Gold Coast to run in the Magic Millions 3yo Guineas but the rushed trip and 7 day back up was a bridge too far at his 6th run.
A patient spell, giving him full opportunity to recover and a slow build up to this preparation seems to have worked a treat.
Whilst this was his third trial this time in, his first couple were just short course fitness builders.
He ran 1.3 len 4th on 28/4 to Bella Vino and Tactical Advantage over 740 at Randwick and then ran second over 800m on 10 May to Mr Manhattan by 0.2 length. Both these trials the horse went around without being put under pressure and the blinkers were off.
In today’s trial the blinkers were re-applied and out to 1,050m suited the horse better as we believe his best trips will be at 1400m and 1600m.
Gai Waterhouse wanted to give him a third trial to ensure a solid fitness under the belt for when we plan to resume in 15 days time on the
3rd June at Rosehill over 1200m in a 3yo Bm78 event.
That appears a nice stepping stone to a second up
3yo 1400m BM 78 at Rosehill on 17 June.
Being a
BOBS eligible horse, he’s running for $74,000 to the winner in both these events. A major advantage we have identified is the horse is comfortable on rain affected ground. Hence why a winter programme was determined would be our best option.
