Boom! The best placed horse in Australia on Friday 29/7 duly saluted when
Dynamic Syndications 3yo REBEL COUNTY (Star Turn x County Cork) recorded his
3rd Win from 6 starts when claiming
Race 3 at Goulburn, the Goulburn Produce Class 2, 1500m Handicap.
REBEL COUNTY winning at Goulburn
Here, he was second up after a spell. We had him in a Race in Sydney last Saturday, over 1500m which we thought he would be very hard to beat, but unfortunately, the races were abandoned after the running of the first race. So, we had to settle for this Goulburn event. We also had him in at Rosehill for this Saturday but the race was over 1300m which was too sharp but we had to have him in that event as an insurance policy to make sure he got a race start to keep his fitness levels where they are needed.
Looking an absolute glamour in the parade ring,
our Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou trained REBEL COUNTY looked on type a class above.
First-up from a spell he had resumed over 1450m at Muswellbrook carrying 61.5kgs in Class 3 company and just ran out of gas the final 50m to finish 4th just 2.08 lengths away.
Here, he was
back in grade from
Class 3 to Class 2, he was
up in trip that suits him better, and he was
fitter for his first up run. Yet he only went up
0.5kg for his first up effort.
Plus, both his
previous race wins were at Goulburn.
However, whilst they were held at Goulburn, they were actually
Kembla Grange provincial races that were transferred to Goulburn track during Covid lockdowns.
So, he was a horse that had won twice at provincial grade, coming back to a Class 2 country class race.
He also had a top jockey in the saddle who had ridden him the start before.
At weights and measures he looked thrown-in to this event and that’s how it panned out.
Allotted
62.0kgs which would be a steadier for many horses, our 3yo gelding is built like a
brick outhouse and the weight was not a concern, as
he led from the time the gates crashed back until the Dynamic Duo smiled for the snapper.
REBEL COUNTY wins with ease
REBEL COUNTY (62.0kgs) ($3.0 Fav) defeated THE PRES (55.0kg) ($4.20) by 2.32 lengths with SMARTER THAN YOU (57.5kgs) ($11) a further 2.09 lengths away back in third place.
A well-judged ride by leading rider
Andrew Adkins assisted the task at hand, but in not much more than a
jog- trot-canter, REBEL COUNTY was never under any pressure at any point of this event.
Our tactics were simple
“go to the front and improve on your position,” and that’s how the race panned out.
We anticipated on the speed map that REBEL COUNTY would have an easy lead as we couldn’t see any exposed on-speed competitors.
So, our instruction was simply, make a statement and roll along a couple of lengths in front and then, slow the tempo mid race to get some easy sectionals then turn it into a sit and sprint. That way they would need to give us a head start and run super sectionals the last 600m to catch us and in this grade the opposition shouldn’t have the class to do it.
Andrew and Rebel County peeled off a split of
11.53 secs from the 1400m to the 1200m to get the field spread over
7 lengths as they settled down, then from the 1200m to the 1000m they recorded an
11.30 and this was the
fastest split of the race, and ensured all others were out of their comfort zones and to also ensure the horse sitting second would not want to eyeball us in front.
Then from the 1000m to the 800m Andrew applied the brakes to run an
11.79 but had spread the field out over
8+ lengths passing the 800m marker.
The next split was
super soft, as we expected nothing wanted to make a move and Andrew peeled off a slow
12.33 yet he was still two lengths in front of the horse sitting second and eventual runner-up named The Pres who had a
7.0kg pull in the weights over us.
Then as the field swung for home and into the straight, they passed the 400m marker and the Dynamic Duo had recorded another slow split of
12.04.
Mathematically, this made it
nearly impossible for those chasing to make any headway, as we had turned the race into a sit and sprint affair.
50m mark
With plenty of petrol in the tank, Andrew sat calmly under hands and heels increasing the tempo for a split of
11.62 and those chasing under pressure to make up the headway.
Passing the 200m pole, Andrew pushed the
“go button” and despite the heavy weight, our horse extended nicely. Andrew got into his rhythm, pushing Rebel County out over the next 100m and the pair put a big gap into those chasing.
Passing the 100m marker he was
2.5 lengths in front with those chasing unable to counter.
Leader of the pack
At the 50m with the race well and truly won, Andrew went back to a
hands and heels, sit and steer job as the Dynamic Duo cruised over the line posting an
eased down 12.37 for the final split.
Winners Circle
The last 600m was in a
slick 36.06 secs so Andrew’s ride, a stack them up and sprint from the 400m to the 200m, gave nothing else a chance.

Adam Watt & Dynamic Gerry Harvey
Gerry Harvey bred REBEL COUNTY and bought back into the horse believing he had bred a nice individual and on his efforts to date,
Gerry was very astute.
The horse is a
Magic Millions graduate and he appears capable of winning better class races than he has achieved to date.
REBEL COUNTY recorded our 42nd Race Win for the season and our 768th Race Win overall.

It’s been a
tough six months for racing in NSW has been difficult with the
slow or heavy tracks being served up since February and the
loss of so many race meetings.
REBEL COUNTY is an example of this racing dilemma. We had him in a Race in Sydney last Saturday over 1500m which we thought he would be very hard to beat. So we believed despite the weight he was very well placed into this event.
Well Done to All and Onwards and Upwards !
