The saying’s go: “
All good things come to those that wait” and
“Patience is a virtue.”
That has proven to be the case again at the
2021 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale as having just
11 lots to bid upon in the catalogue that we
truly wanted to own, it was on our
10th visit to the salering that we proved successful.
We secured LOT 393 - a Handsome Dark BAY COLT by PRIDE OF DUBAI ex LITTLE MISS SMILEY for $130,000 + GST.

We came to the sale to first and foremost
buy an athlete, but the yearling had to
fit within out strict criteria.
He certainly did that on
type, being a
well conformed, well grown individual with a purposeful stride.
He was passed sound of wind and limb by our
vet Dr. Tim Roberts, who advised he had
low risk X-Rays and a Grade 1 scope.
Whilst his working pedigree is an
A 155% with a
Quality Rating of Q7.
Whilst his
Geographical Rating score is an A+ 718%.
We had marked this colt
highly on inspections and didn’t believe we would be able to purchase him.
We didn’t have a big budget to buy him and we bid to
our limit of $130,000 in the ring but our bid was countered at $140,000 by the auctioneer with a vendor bid.
We withdrew at that point and to our surprise there wasn’t another bid at $150,000.
However, we were all in at $130,000, then the auctioneer said that the horse was
Passed-In with a
Reserve posted at
$180,000.
Coolmore staff had been watching us bidding on the colt and advised their sales bosses that it was
Dynamic Syndications on the horse.
A few minutes passed and they spoke with us wanting to see if we were still interested in buying the colt.
We were and we do a lot of business with the
Coolmore crew, but we explained we were
"too far apart on their reserve to our all-in price" on this particular yearling.
They understood, and because of
our loyalty to Coolmore Stud yearlings and their
appreciation of our business relationship over so many years, they
dropped their reserve to our last bid at
$130,000 + GST and ….. we shook hands –
deal done!
A big thanks to the Team at Coolmore for their generosity which we will pass-on to our Owners.
Like most thing’s it’s not always what you know but rather who you know. This is one of these situations. It takes a long time to build such positive goodwill.
We helped the Coolmore Team by them selling a passed-in lot to us.
Team Coolmore helped us by dropping their reserve by $50,000.
They call this a true
“WIN – WIN” situation.
Imagine how this pedigree could grow if the highly promising
SAIF can continue his good form and win a Gr1. We will certainly be cheering him on!
This colt is
BOBS Eligible and will also be entered into the
Inglis Race Series.
