Dynamic Syndications chose not to be active at the 2019 Magic Millions National Yearling Sales when we discovered the highly promising previously Hawkes trained 3yo Colt TAPICONIC (USA) was being sold by his USA based owner Mr A Beck.
TAPICONIC pre-race at Canterbury 8 May 2019
By the super sire of the USA in TAPIT - Followers of Dynamic Syndications are aware of the huge opinion we have of the superstar sire TAPIT (USA) and to purchase such a magnificent individual by the sire from a brilliant mare with an equally brilliant pedigree is just part of the puzzle.
To watch his 2 barrier trials and 3 race starts and to see how much he does clearly wrong as he learns his racecraft, all points to an exciting future ahead.
TAPIT - Sire
TAPIT is a superstar in the United States and Canada where this Group 1 Winning Alpha Male has become Champion Sire in the US and Canada in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
He started his first season at stud in 2005 at a modest Service Fee of $15,000 USD only to see it rise twenty-fold up to $300,000 USD.
That was because from his first crop he became Champion First Crop Sire and Champion Sire of 2yo’s.
Now with 12 racing crops, he has been 3 times Champion US and Canadian Sire and along the way has sired: 7 Champions, 25 Group 1 Winners 3 Breeder’s Cup Winners and to date 229 Stakes Horses among 780 Individual Winners and boasts an unheard of 76% Runners To Winners strike rate.
He is a Breed-Shaping superstar and the dominant sire of his era.
Less than a handful of TAPIT progeny have ever made their way down to the southern hemisphere and we have secured a sensational son of this super sire.
Offered by Vinery Stud at the 2017 Magic Millions, TAPICONIC who had been bred in the USA to Southern Hemisphere time and sent to Australia, was passed in for $280,000 on a $300,000 reserve.

The vendor retained the horse to race in Australia and now as we come to the conclusion of his 3yo year the horse was sent to sale to be sold by Mr Beck.
You won’t find a better looking individual than TAPITONIC (USA).
This 3yo colt is a magnificent horse but still looks immature and his best certainly appears in-front of him.
To buy him now that he has proven his has ability and displayed his lack of racecraft between his ears, yet all can see the motor under the bonnet is a V8 strongly points that next preparation he has the ability to win his easy events and graduate in Saturday company.
Having done our due diligence prior to purchase, we were aware that the horse is 100% sound, having discovered his veterinary history is as “clean as a whistle” was encouraging.
We also discovered that the horse was running freely in the agistment paddock since his last start 1.1 length 3rd at Canterbury on the 8th May.
Upon the horse’s arrival at the complex we went to inspect him early on the 6th June, being the day before the sale. The horse was placed into box number 86 by the transporters and then, was basically abandoned.
On Thursday afternoon, because our contracted veterinarian Dr Tim Roberts is also the previous trainer’s vet, to avoid a potential Conflict of Interest perception, we had our other go to veterinarian Dr Greg Nash inspect the horse for us doing a full physical examination including an endoscopic evaluation where the colt passed 100% clean.
He arrived in fantastic order from the spelling farm Oak Ridge, (where we also spell our horses) but no party was present from the vendor or the previous racing stable to represent the horse and parade him.
The horse looked "untidy, covered in stable shavings and had rolled in manure" and that’s how he was presented through the sale ring.
There is no doubt that presentation had a marked influence on his price, as perspective buyers (especially the many overseas buyers at the sale) wrongly would have assumed, he was being dumped. This proved to our significant advantage as we had significantly more ammunition to ensure Dynamic secured him.
To buy him at the Fall Of Hammer of $90,000 was a major discount to his true value.
After we purchased him we gave him a "clean-up" for the photo with a brush and a wipe off of the manure off his coat, he came up looking in the great condition in which he he would have left Oak Ridge.

We had spoken with jockeys who have ridden him and they gave us glowing reports of his ability.
With prizemoney at such high levels and getting better all the time, to be able to secure what appears a Saturday class galloper that’s sound and right to go, with his education completed and exposed ability, we can’t be more excited for our Dynamic owners that will be lucky to have a share in him.
The major benefit to this horse was his grade.
He’s a Maiden - so we have all the upside ahead of us.
When you watch his race replays you will be assured that he won’t be a maiden for long when he comes back into work.
From the sales he has been returned to the agistment farm Oak Ridge from where he has been and will continue his spell until the end of June so we can complete all our necessary documentation and decide on a stable to send him too.
Typical of an immature early horse and of the trainer who originally had him, TAPICONIC has only had the one race preparation which consisted of 2 barrier trials and 3 race starts:
