Promising 3yo TEXCEL, leading trainer CIARON MAHER Racing and top jockey HUGH BOWMAN combined on Sunday at Gosford to deliver
DYNAMIC SYNDICATIONS our
71st Season Race Win and our
725th Overall Race Win.
TEXEL our 3yo chestnut gelding by EXCEED AND EXCEL ex TIMBOURINA carries the brand of a
Star on his near shoulder, belonging to breeder
Mark Alati, owner of
Marquee Stud, and now that his race distances are lengthening,
TEXCEL who has thrown
so much more to his Dam who was a super middle distance mare, than his sire, is showing he deserves to wear such a moniker, as he clearly has the ability to win much better races, after he crunched a handy field in Race 7 at Gosford in the
Sneddon Brothers Class 1 Handicap over 1600m, on a soft 5 surface, running an eased down 1:40.09 with a last 600m: 0:37.2.
Travelling sweetly throughout,
TEXCEL who was a bit headstrong as a younger horse,
keeps improving race-by-race, as the 3yo continues to learn his racecraft.
It’s now
Back-to-Back wins at 1600m for TEXCEL who takes his record to
7 starts: 2-2-2 and $62,695 including
two (2) BOBS Bonuses.
Presented in
immaculate condition by the Team from Ciaron Maher Racing,
TEXCEL (58.5kgs) wearing our second set of colours with a
white cap, was sent out $3.30 Favourite, and was never in doubt in the run, as he gave
Hugh Bowman an armchair ride throughout, without any need for Hugh to ask our horse for a strenuous effort, as they won eased down by 2.27 lengths over Tip Top Timing (56.5kgs) with Chateaux Park (57.5kgs) in third, beaten 3.61 lengths behind
TEXCEL.
Anticipating there would be speed in this race for the first couple of furlongs, Hugh was asked to have
TEXCEL in a prominent position tracking the speed and our horse would do the rest.
As the gates crashed back,
TEXCEL jumped away quickly and speared to the front after 50m before the pressure came on from Rachel King on Pyraminx, who made her intentions clear that she wanted the lead with an all-out attack for the front, whilst
Dynamic Syndications other runner, Significant Rule, pushed on from the outside barrier to match Pyraminx going into the first turn, but another runner, Mr Cantankerous, also went forward and was trying to hold Significant Rule wide on the course.
Hugh Bowman rode a lovely tempo, which forced the three runners to over race to cross
TEXCEL. This gave Hugh the perfect trail in fourth spot, one pair back on the fence, as they ran through the first turn. This meant that the three horses Pyraminx, Significant Rule and Mr Cantankerous were all over racing on speed and Hugh had
TEXCEL in a perfect balance with cover.
As the field swung into the back straight passing the 1000m, Pyraminx was leading the fence with Significant Rule at its girth, with 3 lengths back to Hugh and
TEXCEL tracking that pair, and Mr Cantankerous working hard to sit outside
TEXCEL, with the balance of the field stringing out over a dozen lengths.
Passing the 800m, Mr Cantankerous started to yield ground and that allowed
TEXCEL to race solo whilst eventual runner-up Tip Top Timing was tracking
TEXCEL each step of the way.
There was no change in the order as the field started their swing down the side. Passing the 650m Hugh Bowman eased off the fence to be one off and in a position to swoop off the home turn as the leaders hit the wall. As
TEXCEL came off the fence, Tip Top Timing strode up to take his vacated spot on the rail in fourth position as the sprint came on, and the field started to swing into the home straight.
TEXCEL was now 4 wide, after coming off the heels of Significant Rule and then, Tip Top Timing stole a gap between Pyraminx and Significant Rule, saving valuable ground and coming up to eyeball
TEXCEL as they balanced for the run home.
However, Hugh Bowman hadn’t spent any petrol to get there, and Tip Top Timing was all out. Hugh slipped
TEXCEL some rein and the
Dynamic Duo did a gap job on them.
Passing the 200m
TEXCEL thought the job was done when he hit the front, but Hugh was a wake-up to that, and gave him two taps to remind him what he was there to do, and the horse extended beautifully.
Then passing the 75m mark,
TEXCEL was looking about again, and Hugh gave him one more tap to concentrate and
TEXCEL responded like a good horse does, attacking the line under his own desire without any need for further urging from Hugh, to record an eased down but widening 2.27 length victory.
Returning to the winner’s stall, Hugh Bowman reported: “Yeah that was good to get a win on him. I had a bit to do with him this prep. He enjoyed that quick pace. If it was a slow pace, he would be better to be out in front. He’s a horse that likes to go at a nice even pace, but what he did do when I balanced up was let down very well for me. It’s the first time I’ve felt that with him, so over this trip he was able to do that. He was inclined to stargaze the last bit, but we had it safely parcelled up. So he’s starting to string a few together now. Thanks for the ride.”

This win by
TEXCEL was a
Warm and Fuzzy moment for
our Team at Dynamic.
It was our
71st Race Win for this
2020/21 Racing Season with 7 days remaining.
It extended us to
3 wins past our previous best season back in 2009/10 when we recorded
68 Wins.
Whilst it increased our overall tally to
725 Race Wins for our
Dynamic Owners in the past
16 seasons.
It’s always a buzz to win races, but it is so much more rewarding to win for the
wonderful people who race with us.
We are thrilled for
all our owners that see their horse return to the
winner’s circle.
Well Done All.
