Dynamic Jason Deamer and Jack Duggan Claim Mayors Cup at Gosford

What a wonderful way to close out the 2023 Calendar Year with our Dynamic Galloper JACK DUGGAN (6yo Grey Gelding by Jack Milton (USA) ex Unbridled Treasure (USA)) trained by our great mate and wonderful horseman JASON DEAMER, winning the MAYOR’S CUP over 1900m at Gosford on New Years Eve 31/12/23.

Our UK import purchased from the Tattersalls Sales, was ridden beautifully by Chad Schofield.

However it wasn’t all beer and skittles, as Chad had to take matters into his own hands when Plan A to lead or sit at the girth of the leader went out the window, after JACK DUGGAN was away awkwardly, and didn’t muster his customary early speed to cross the field from out wide.

After 25m Chad summed things up well and allowed the speed to go, as he crossed over from wide, to find the running line, one off the fence, as the field thundered out of the home straight for the first time. Settling with only three behind him, Chad moved across and found the fence as the field passed the 1600m marker.

Having used no petrol to get there, Chad allowed JACK DUGGAN to fall asleep, lobbing along in his own rhythm, 3 pairs back on the fence, 6 lengths off the speed.

Chad had a lap full of horse passing the 500m marker, but was buried away and needing a bit of luck and a courageous ride to extract our Dynamic galloper out of his ugly, boxed-in position as the field swung into the home straight.

The leaders were compounding, and things became tight as the runner-up and favourite was to his outside and trying to hold our galloper in a pocket.

Chad had hooked out 3 deep and tried to get to the outside of the tiring horses in front of him, and as a slight gap appeared Chad drove Jack into the gap and barged his way out, as our runner was too strong and full of running.

With 75 metres to go, JACK DUGGAN strode to the lead and increased his margin to 3/4 of a length as the camera flashed.

JOB DONE !

Chad had ridden a pearler, Jason Deamer had delivered the horse to the races in magnificent condition and peak fitness, and Jack Duggan showed courage as he muscled his way clear and attacked the line.

Named after the Irish Folk Song “Wild Colonial Boy” JACK DUGGAN recorded his 5th win overall but more importantly, his fourth win in Australia, and his fourth win for his trainer JASON DEAMER who has had our grey galloper for 15 races of his total 24 race starts, 21 of those races in Australia.

JACK DUGGAN has taken his prizemoney tally to $117,798 and vitally he broke through the $100,000 glass ceiling here with this victory, now having won $104,595 since arriving on our shores.

JACK DUGGAN has won over 1513m, 1600m, 1900m (2), 2100m.

He has taken his overall career record to: 24 Starts = 5 wins, 1 second, 2 thirds, 4 fourths.

JACK DUGGAN won Race 5 on Sunday, 31 December 2023, the MAYOR’S CUP - a Conditional Benchmark 68, 1900m Handicap.

JACK DUGGAN 57.0kgs ($4.80) defeated New Republic 57.5kgs ($3.80 Fav) by 0.72 length with Hunter Bred 56.5kgs ($10) 0.92 length third running an overall time of 1:57.88 with a last 600m in 35.55 secs.

It was a terrific way for Team Dynamic to conclude the 2023 Calendar Year with our final runner signing us out from the Winner’s Circle.

JACK DUGGAN recorded our 59th Race Win for the 2023 Calendar Year; our 34th Race Win for the Current 2023-24 Racing Season and our 862nd Race Win overall.

Onwards and Upwards - Forever Forward, as we now turn into the 2024 Calendar Year and look forward to many visits to the Winner’s Circle for our Dynamic Owners.
