Sky Channel’s Racecaller summed it up perfectly over the final stages: “TOO MUCH CLASS really lays down the law, TOO MUCH CLASS gets the upper hand and moving clear from a wall of them, TOO MUCH CLASS – too good!”
Dynamic Syndications 5yo mare TOO MUCH CLASS (Smart Missile x Skyline Blush) showed a brilliant turn off foot when sizzling down the outside from last position to score a length win in Race 5 at Eagle Farm on Wednesday, the MORSE BUILDING CONSULTANCY Benchmark 70 Handicap over 1600m for in form Jet Pilot Ben Thompson.
TOO MUCH CLASS (Jack Bruce) 57.5kgs ($3.8 Fav) defeated Villaden (Waller) 55.0kgs ($7) by 1 length, with Roller Coaster 55.0kgs ($14) 1.2 lengths third.
It’s a big job for any mare to give weight to males and then give them a cold as she sizzles-bye down the outside.
WOW – What a WIN !
Congratulations to our DYNAMIC Owners that Own and Race TOO MUCH CLASS with us. It was also a Vital Win for her later career as a broodmare because incredibly, this result was her first city success.
Our trainer JACK BRUCE and his devoted team are doing a fantastic job with our mare.
Yet again, she was presented in fabulous condition in the parade ring and she raced accordingly, justifying her $3.80 favourite price.
Arriving up in Brisbane in excellent order from our Newcastle based trainer JASON DEAMER, Jack was sent TOO MUCH CLASS so her owners could see her escape the Heavy tracks in NSW that our mare just doesn’t enjoy.
It was hard for Jason to say good-bye to TOO MUCH CLASS knowing she had her hoof on the till, but Jason is such a great team player for us at Dynamic Syndications, he had no hesitation at our request to pass the keys on to Jack to continue the job for our owners.
JACK BRUCE has taken over our mare, and she has continued to thrive week upon week in the Queensland sunshine.
JACK BRUCE only started training recently and TOO MUCH CLASS became Jack’s 15th Winner along with 20 Placings from just 61 starters to date.
That’s a Winners:Runners Strike Rate of 24.6% whilst 57.4% have run in the first three- Amazing!
TOO MUCH CLASS under JACK BRUCE’S tutelage has started in 6 races: 3 Wins, 1 Second, 1 Fourth, 1 Fifth and picked up $77,325 in earnings.
She has won for Jack at the SUNSHINE COAST, GOLD COAST and now EAGLE FARM.
TOO MUCH CLASS took her total career record to:
22 Starts = 6 Wins : 3 Seconds : 2 Thirds & Prizemoney: $147,300 Winning from 1400m / 1700m.
She was the best of good things beaten last start in Saturday company on 1/10/22 at Eagle Farm over 1600m, when the leader in a slowly run race held on by ¾ length as TOO MUCH CLASS made up many lengths from the tail of the field over 1800m.
Dropping back to 1600m here, she exhibited a dazzling display of pace over the final 200m that broke the hearts of her peers.
Jockey Ben Thompson was having his fifth sit on our mare and has got to know her quirks.
She is a mare that has developed over time, to want to drop out early in her races and get into a rhythm, and then gather momentum at the top of the straight before hitting the go button at the final 200m marker and she engages her booster rockets to rattle home.
This is how the race unfolded. As the barriers crashed back the field of jumped away as one in a beautiful dispatch.
After the first 50m, Ben grabbed hold of TOO MUCH CLASS and our mare bowed her head, and went to sleep, as the field carved out a slick first sectional of 11.19 secs. This was perfect for a backmarker and the field quickly spread out over 10 lengths before the tempo slackened.
Passing the half-way point of the race, TOO MUCH CLASS and Ben Thompson were bidding their time waiting for the race to unfold.
Passing the 600m marker Ben then angled TOO MUCH CLASS out 3-deep to the running line and in a couple of bounds, our mare started to improve sharply.
She was speared 6 wide around the home turn, and Ben just kept her balanced.
Passing the 300m Ben was still nursing our mare until the 250m when he let the brakes off.
TOO MUCH CLASS quickly hit the front and established a clear lead.
At the 150m she started to stargaze and began to lay in towards the rail. Ben simply grabbed hold and changed direction and our mare straightened up nicely, and was full of running over the final 100m to allow Ben an easy time under hands and heels until the camera flashed.
A top win, both well-deserved and courageous.
Simply TOO MUCH CLASS had Too Much Class.

Post Race Jack Bruce was interviewed on Sky Channel by Bernadette Cooper who said:
BC: “Appropriately named for today in particular wasn’t she! Jack Bruce joins us now for a chat and Jack, that was a very cool, collected ride”
Jack Bruce responded: “It was a cool and collected ride. I was very proud of her today. She ran really well and it’s a good effort to get down the outside the way she did.”
BC: “It is. Was that the plan always, to get back to last?”
JB: “Yes, it was, Ben knows her and he’s done a great job on her previously, so I just leave the instructions to him, but she’s been a good mare to me now, she’s won three for me, so it’s a Big Thanks to Dynamic Syndications sending her up. And it’s Big for me to have those colours in my stable and it’s good to see them win at Eagle Farm.”
BC: “And they can send some more?”
JB: “Absolutely they can, while they’re running as well as this mare, they are always welcome!”
BC: “It would appear that this trip is sort of her pet trip for her.”
JB: “Yes, it’s funny you say that, because I always thought she would get 2000m and I had been sought of saying that to Adam a lot, that I felt that she would, but she’s been extremely effective at a mile, so we’ll have to have a think about where we go. But it’s great, she’s a city winner now as well, which is really valuable for her. Thank you.”
BC: “Jack Bruce has been going great guns since setting up here at Deagon, and TOO MUCH CLASS a mare by Smart Missile.
“We’ll get Ben Thompson’s thoughts but he just let it all unfold in front of him, there was a bit of a race on for the lead in the early part, but then they slowed and cruised along, so this lady had a bit of work to do on straightening, she was dominant after wanting to run in about the furlong, looking for those horses to her inside, but she straightens up and ends up a convincing winner by a length. Well Done Ben!”
BT: “Thanks Bernie. She’s having a great prep, really loving life up north, and Jack Bruce and his team have done a great job with her, so she’s now a city winner and a well-deserved one in that.”
BC: “She likes being out the back sort of minding her own business, not being too competitive in the early parts?”
BT: “Yes and I felt I have worked her out, its doing no work in the first three-quarters of the race and give her space and let her build her momentum, and see what she can do. So I thought she was a little awkwardly drawn from barrier 7 of 9, but coming back from Saturday grade I thought she was really well in today, and didn’t want to risk her being caught deep or burning any fuel early, so she did a good job. She was at the back, rounded up the whole field, and plenty of credit in today’s win. She wanted to duck in at the furlong, so I had to change the whip over to my right hand, to guide her on the straight and narrow, but she did well. Thank you.”
TOO MUCH CLASS had just that.
This win by TOO MUCH CLASS recorded Dynamic Syndications 781st Race Win and our 11th Race Win for this current season.
Onwards and Upwards!
