Dynamic Syndications lovely
4yo mare NARRATED (Snitzel x Fictional Account) was
resuming from a spell for her
co-trainers CIARON MAHER & DAVID EUSTACE and with another
“pearler” of a ride by
“happy-go-lucky” Irish born jet pilot
JOHN ALLEN, our
Dynamic Duo led throughout to claim Race 6 at Ballarat on Sunday, the
“Hygain Winners Choice” Bm64 Handicap 1400m, on a Heavy 8 surface.
Official Photo Finish
Starting $2.10 favourite, she ran a time of 1:27.12 with
NARRATED carrying
59.5kgs top weight, in a field of 7 runners and after scratchings.
NARRATED banked the first prizemoney cheque of
$19,250.
Our race tactics were simple –
“go to the front and improve on your position, then smile for the camera.”
NARRATED drives to the line
Job Done!
As the gates crashed back,
NARRATED came out running, landing a neck in front after the jump, and she worked forward to have the lead on the fence after the field had gone 100m.
Another horse Improvident came up to try and eyeball us and then dropped back to sit ant our girth, in an attempt to annoy our mare and get her running along overworking, but that tactic failed, as with the silky hands John Allen were able to get
NARRATED to settle into a rhythm, bowling along, peeling off soft sectionals for the first 1000m, to turn the race into a sit and sprint.
Despite the big weight especially for a mare, and first-up from a spell, against the males,
the race was never in doubt.
As the field thundered around the home turn for the 400m dash for the cash,
NARRATED was able to give a big kick and Improvident tried hard to go with her, but it was no match.
200m
At the final furlong marker,
NARRATED was full of running whilst Improvident
“burst like a pricked balloon” and dropped off to finish last.
100m
NARRATED and John Allen where going strongly but were starting to run on fumes at the 50m marker under the 59.5kgs, as the second favourite was the swooper out wide, and with her 2.0kgs pull in the weights, she too tried hard, but wasn’t able to reel-in
NARRATED who cruised past the post with a
0.75 length lead over runner-up SABRE PRINCESS with
3 lengths back to third placed HANAADY (58.5kgs).
Finish
There was excitement in the voice of the race caller as he described the final 400m and concluding stages he said:
“What’s the favourite got her at the top of the straight Narrated?”
“Allen hit the detonator just in front Improvident the outside trying to go with it, they got away 2 lengths from Hanaady, then followed by Sabre Princess.”
“But it is Narrated finding plenty inside the 200m for Allen, Sabre Princess starting to launch late but can’t get there and the money was Bang-On and Narrated Wins.”
Returning to the Winner's Circle
Post-race the
stable foreman Nicky was interviewed by
Racing.com reporter who asked:
Stable Foreman Interview:
Interviewer: “Nicky – Good performance by Narrated – just too good again.”
Nicky: “Yeah, she was really good, her work at home has been quite good, and we thought she may be sharp enough to win today, and she was.”
Interviewer: “So, coming her today you thought she fit and ready to go first up, from a bit of a break.”
Nicky: “Yeah, we were highly confident, it was just whether the Heavy Track first up would be okay for her and yep that was no worries.”
Interviewer: “Is that a concern? I know you got the win here now but is that a concern going forward how much that could have taken out?”
Nicky: “We will see how she is when she gets home, and how she pulls up and we will go from there but I would say she will be okay but she is a neat frame sort of horse but hopefully that hasn’t taken too much out of her.”
Interviewer: “When you look at her record, she is very consistent, what’s she like to deal with at home?”
Nicky: “She’s an absolute sweetheart, she’s really just a pleasure to have around, so it was good for the team, good for everyone at home and good for Dynamic to get another winner down here again.”
Interviewer: “So, another winner for the stable today, the Grand Annual during the week, a Group 1 yesterday, it must be a happy place to come to work at?”
Nicky: “Yeah it has been the last couple of days and weeks, it was good the horses were huge at Warrnambool, huge in Adelaide and Caulfield as well, it’s been great week.”
Interviewer: “Your horses are winning everywhere – well done.”
Jockey John Allen Interview:
Jockey John Allen returned to the winner’s circle and was asked by the interviewer:
Interviewer: “John, it looked straight forward for you there.”
John Allen: “Yeah, good win. Jumped was able to find the lead easy enough, got into a good rhythm and she gave a good kick.”
Interviewer: “You had Sabre Princess at your outside at the 200m, but did you feel you had her covered with 200 left to go?”
John Allen: “I knew there was one coming at me and it got a bit closer at the finish, but my filly was trying hard and I was confident enough that I would be holding them off.”
Interviewer: “First up there and obviously she was pretty fit, David and Ciaron had her ready to go today?”
John Allen: “Yeah, she’s been to the jump outs a couple of times, and I had been jumping on quite a while, so we were pretty happy she was ready to go.”
NARRATED has become an ATM Machine for her loyal group of Dynamic Owners.
According to John Allen NARRATED is Number 1
Her Career Stats have been amazing to date and she is just starting to come into her own with maturity and over a trip that suits.
To date her record shows:
12 Starts: 3 Wins, 5 Seconds, 3 Thirds and Prizemoney: $108,260
Min/Max-Dist-Wins: 1400 (2) - 1850 1st Up: 3:2-0-1 / 2nd Up: 2:0-0-1
Surfaces: Good: 5:0-3-1, Soft: 3:1-1-1, Heavy: 4:2-1-1
Importantly - from 5 Starts in Metro Area to date = Placed 5 times (4 Seconds, 1 Third).
The only time she missed a placing in 12 runs was at her second career start, where she ran 7th of 13 over 1500m but was only
2.1 lengths from the winner.
We have been patient with
NARRATED, allowing the daughter of
6-time winner FICTIONAL ACCOUNT the time she needed to mature.
FICTIONAL ACCOUNT
FICTIONAL ACCOUNT Winning the Fenwolf S., LR at Ascot in the driving rain
Her Dam was the
Champion Female Stayer in Ireland in 2011 as a
5yo (6 wins 1600m-3400m) a dual stakes winner; 3-times stakes placed and
loved the mud and these traits are showing in her daughter.
NARRATED is certainly one for the
Black-Book because she will just keep getting better as the distances increase now that she is a mature mare.
NARRATED has been
placed to advantage to build her
resume for the breeding barn upon her eventual racetrack retirement.
Now with
3 wins and 5 metro placings, she has started to sneak up in Benchmark ratings where after this win at Ballarat, the handicapper whacked her
6 points (3.0kgs) making her a
Benchmark 71.
So now the plan is to aim higher at metro events before she is weighted out of those.
To secure a city win is our aim then add some
black-type to keep building up her
pedigree page.
Then we can look at better class, middle-distance events with our mare, especially over the winter months with her fondness for heavy ground.
NARRATED as a yearling at the Sales
NARRATED was purchased by Dynamic Syndications / Dean Watt Bloodstock from the Arrowfield Stud draft at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sales for $150,000 and with her
commercial pedigree page and on what she has achieved, she will be a sought-after broodmare prospect offering her owners a nice return, in addition to the
$108,260 prizemoney already in the tin and the promise of more to come.
