The first metropolitan meeting of the new 2022-23 racing season was conducted at Canterbury Park on Wednesday afternoon and
Dynamic Syndications were back in the Winner’s Circle with
our first runner for the new season, with our newly turned
4yo mare NOTIONS (Press Statement x She’s Sirius) won Race 3 the BOWERMANS HANDICAP Benchmark 72 picking up $25,400 to the winner.
NOTIONS wins Race 3 the BOWERMANS HCP 1900m 3/8/22
Trained to perfection at Rosehill by
Dynamic Co-Trainers RICHARD and WILLIAM FREEDMAN (Freedman Training) and ridden in this event by our
go to jet pilot Nash Rawiller, NOTIONS was never in doubt of claiming victory in this event.
NOTIONS was on the quick back up after running at Rosehill on Saturday.
On paper the race result looked disappointing. However, nobody was more disappointed than
the co-trainers and our ownership team as Saturday’s rider rode her upside down and in total contradiction to given instructions.
Despite being well supported in betting on the day, a poorly executed ride cost her any hope of success in that event.
We also had her nominated in this Canterbury 1900m event as a back-up plan in case we chose not to run on the Saturday.
When
Richard and William advised us that our mare had “licked the tin out” and pulled up a treat, we chose to
accept on Monday for this 1900m event. There were only 8 acceptors and then there were two scratchings so on race morning it was a field of 6 runners.
Normally we wouldn’t back up so quickly but the way our mare had been ridden on Saturday and not extended in the straight, we felt she had more unused energy to give, and knowing she was fit and well, we decided to run.
We weren’t concerned about the opposition at Canterbury as we felt she was a super hope at Rosehill on the previous Saturday, but it was
imperative to find cover with this horse who races fiercely if pushed forward into clear running.
She needs cover in her races to allow her to finish off.
Having our preferred rider back on top here at Canterbury, we asked
Nash Rawiller to ensure she found cover despite the small field.
On paper we believed the horses drawn barriers one and two would get going, so the plan was to grab hold of our mare and then steer across to the fence to land onto the back of the leader and wait until the top of the straight to extend.
This is where Nash Rawiller shows his class and horsemanship skills of an elite level.
Nash gave NOTIONS and 11 out of 10 ride and our mare duly saluted.
The field of 6 facing the starter bounced away evenly and after 50m
Nash restrained NOTIONS as the Good Omens barrier 1 went to the front and Speed Legend Barrier 2 pushed up with it and they went at a good tempo to allow Nash to drop in behind the leaders 3rd on the fence with Spring Break at our girth then there was a break of 2 lengths to Oz Legend and the favourite Chateaux Park a further length behind.
From the time they went past the winning post the first time until the point of the home turn there was no change in the order.
Approaching the home turn the tempo was increased and the horse at our girth had dropped off and then, the horse Speed Legend that had been second dropped off, allowing Nash to peel off the heels of the leader Good Omens and our mare
NOTIONS was full of running, pulled her way up to eyeball the leader.
Whilst this was happening, James MacDonald on the favourite was making his move put wide and looked as if it was going to storm down the outside.
Nash pushed the “go button” and under his riding our mare extended beautifully to hold out the favourite who couldn’t get to
NOTIONS and the
Dynamic Duo went on to score by
1.19 lengths with Oz Legend (Hugh Bowman) a further
1.34 lengths further away in third spot.
A Happy Nash Rawiller

WINNERS CIRCLE
NOTIONS has now had 11 starts.
Dynamic Syndications / Dean Watt Bloodstock purchased NOTIONS for $90,000 as a 2yo filly in the racing section of the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale after the filly had just the one race start for an unplaced 6th of 8 at the Sunshine Coast.
Since we have owned NOTIONS she has had 10 starts for us: 4 Wins - 2 Seconds and $111,465 with plenty of upside on the racetrack and residual value for the breeding barn upon retirement.
A big shout out to RICHARD and WILL who have polished this mare into claiming 4 wins for our team.
We have always had a good opinion of this mare but have been able to place her to advantage to build her resume.
This preparation she resumed at Rosehill and we took a claim but the mare over-raced in front and took control of our jockey who didn’t have the strength to restrain her and without base fitness NOTIONS knocked up at the furlong and dropped out.
We then took her to Goulburn to give
NOTIONS a confidence win and she duly saluted over 1300m. William Pike got the filly to settle back worse than mid-field with cover and despite carrying the grandstand when worked home stylishly from the back to reel in the leaders and went ob to score.
Third up we took her up to Brisbane to race in the
Gr3 Winx Guineas where she didn’t have a lot of luck in transit where she finished 7th of 15.
Back to Sydney we raced her at Randwick on the Kensington track, and she ran 2nd beaten a pimple by Icecrusher who franked the form by also winning on Wednesday at Canterbury as well.
Then we raced her on Saturday, and we put a line through that.
So, we have backed up here 4 days later and got the chocolates.

REBEL COUNTY
It’s been a nice few days with
REBEL COUNTY (Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou) winning for us on Friday then on Saturday it was a
Dynamic Double as RICHARD and WILLIAM FREEDMAN trained for us SELFIE TIME to win at Kembla Grange and LOVE TAP to win at Eagle Farm.
SELFIE TIME
LOVE TAP
